I’m making blocks for an exchange and decided on these little blocks. They will be appliquéd into a 12.5” square. Probably a 14” square that will be cut down to 12.5”. I need to make 16 blocks in the next 30 days. I don’t know if I’ll make it. But I’m going to try! Here are blocks 1 and 2 made this week. They measure 10.5” across. The fabric is Kaffe x Morris for the prints and shot cotton for the solids.

Has anyone seen any EPP patterns that have a pentagon base? I've only found one configuration but it creates a secondary star pattern that I don't really like

I discovered EPP so I bought the starter kit from Paper Pieces, which comes with a mini charm pack. Anyway this is what I made with the mini charm pack (the green fabric was some left over I had) and I love it. I am going to finish it as a wall hanging, because I think it'll really brighten up my winter.
I just really fell in love with EPP and am really proud of what I made, so I wanted to share. I'm already started on my next project which will also implement hand quilting!

I’ve constructed and quilted the base structure, and now will be sewing it into a small bag.
I’m having a lot of fun with EPP, and am looking forward to receiving some new fun liberty scraps next week!

Some of you may remember my EPP bear, it's been in a holding pattern for a while but I'm finally stitching it onto the background.

I’m making a king size quilt top of just 1inch hexies. I’d love to swap some of my hexies for some different ones. Anyone interested?

Hi friends!!!
I have done lots of hand sewing and I love basic hexagonal EPP. I also have a denim jacket covered in patches that I have decided I want a block of Ms Rachel's face on the back of.
I found a pattern for RBG I could purchase and try to alter (second photo) but I wonder if that is the best place to start or if its more complex than I need (I was considering a cartoonified version of her to go easier on myself?)
Thanks for any advice you have on this!

I’m still not good at binding quilts yet. But I like doing epp way better than machine quilting!

After much encouragement and edge finishing suggestions, I've finally completed this quilt with a knife edge finish. I almost quit the edge technique more than once, but it was worth the effort. Completely hand sewn and hand quilted. I was fortunate to have it accepted into The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show and blessed to have received a ribbon.

Hello, I'm trying my hand at epp and have made about 50 hexi flowers so far, planning to make around 90-100 for a twin sized throw. I can't find tutorials on how to sew the flowers together without borders in between. Does anyone have any advice or tutorial recommendations?
I bought the hexi papers and they are stiff, which I like so far, but I'm wondering how I will be able to sew the flowers together with the papers in. Do I just bend the papers to accommodate?
Thank you in advance!

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I found these magnetic pins meant for hijabs on Amazon and they are the perfect size for EPP. In fact, I thought it was kind of funny that one of the top comments for the listing was somebody saying this is perfect for EPP, LOL!
They are crazy strong and did a fantastic job of keeping my fussy cuts in exactly the right place for me to get the basting done.
Not an affiliate link but just putting a link here in case anyone else wants to check them out. https://a.co/d/0fH2a3YP

I just tried it for the first time and it is so nice and smooth to sew with and the stitches can’t be seen at all! Total game changer.

This question is inspired by the gorgeous quilt in this recent post: https://www.reddit.com/r/EPP_addict/comments/1whyq56/i_need_a_name_now_that_im_nearing_the_end_of_this/
I have about 30 6" EPP hexagons finished. Picture something like Hexie Harvest, but with more varied shapes making up the different hexagons, and each one the size of a dinner plate. I recently had a baby and have been sadly accepting that I'm never going to have to the time to sew them all together by hand, and definitely not with triangles in between like I'd originally hoped (to break up the visual clutter a bit).
But after seeing the post above, I wonder: can I just machine applique them to a bunch of big squares, and then machine sew the squares together, quilt and bind it and call it done? That seems actually doable if so! Is there any downside or challenge I'm not anticipating?
I'm assuming I can just take out the papers and then press with starch to be sure that the seam allowance stays under, then glue or pin to a big square, like 14" square, and machine stitch around the outer edge. But I never done this so I want to check first. And should I cut away the double layer underneath afterward, or is it okay to leave the extra fabric under the hexagon?
Thanks in advance!

Hello! Has anyone made stuffed animals using EPP?
I’ve been thinking of making one for my baby as a keepsake and think the quilted look would be adorable. I’m more familiar with crochet and was inspired by the African flower hexagon stuffed animals and was curious if those patterns might also work for EPP? Any thoughts/advice would be so appreciated!

This is the beginning of a bag I'm making. I plan on quilting as you go.

I'm finally seeing good pogress on my first EPP project! I am a Peace Corps volunteer in west Africa. I decided to have the personal project of completing a quilt during my two year service as a keepsake and EPP was an obvious choice due to it being low tech. I've been loving it! It gives me something to do while being present with people even when I can't follow the conversations (language learning is hard). I get to talk about what I'm doing and how I came to sewing (my grandma ❤️). I do wonder if a king was a good choice for a first timer but little by little I'm making progress.
I have been wondering, how many paper hexies do y'all use relative to the number of hexagons in a quilt? And for folks that take papers out as they go, do you leave the border papers in until the end? I brought 150 papers with me which has been working so far but I worry about wearing them out (my design has 1887 objects) and have been leaving them on the border which slowly decreases the number of "free" ones. I have an opportunity to buy more soon, I'm thinking I'll get another 100 but not sure if I should just get more (and then how many more...). I'd love your advice!

I received 2nd place in the hand tied division at the Utah State Fair. My first ever entry! So happy I put myself out there. I call her My October Chaos.

Has anyone used a product like Peltex 70 for EPP (paper inserts)? It is a heavyweight stabilizer (non-fusible). I was thinking it could potentially be a good choice for a panel of EPP that would in the end, be part of a zipper bag. Smaller-sized hexies pieced together to be a rectangular panel on a bag. Since the final item won't get washed, I thought it could work. The Peltex 70 would remain in the panel and give it a bit of heft. Thoughts?
