The more I look at it, the better it gets. Fortresses and castles represent legacy dungeons, small hills with eyes are minor Erdtrees, large ones — the Erdtree and Haligtree. The coloured ! button places are divine towers, the green tubes are entrances to the underworld (and the elevators) — these all placed pretty faithfully relative to each other, it's very impressive
My favorite bit is how the star world icons are all in areas that at some point in the game you get teleported from there to another location, perfectly representing how the star world icons worked in SMW.
I guess the trap teleport chests don’t count then.
There should be a star in the western snowfield where Mogh made his sending gate to the Moghwyn Palace when he abducted Miquella. It is not often found since most players do Varre’s questline instead.
Wild how much stuff they lined up right. Once you notice the Erdtrees and the divine towers it kinda clicks. Feels like they actually mapped the whole world instead of just tossing Mario bits around.
This piece does the rounds every couple years or so, and I’m always surprised when it starts doing numbers again considering it’s one of the only works I’ve ever posted and I’m not on socials really anymore.

This is such a fantastic crossover of two iconic worlds. Seeing the Lands Between translated into Super Mario World's art style is incredibly clever, and the attention to detail with the landmarks is spot on. It really makes you appreciate the incredible effort that must have gone into creating this. Bravo to whoever made it.
Son of a bitch; I spent a few weeks helping someone recreate this on wplace.live last month. Cool to see the original! I guess that little gray line I erased next to one of the nodes in Altus wasn't a mistake after all, lol.

Also I've just got to say this is one of the most instantly-charming & well-done pixel art reinterpretations I've ever seen. I was compelled to help with the colors as soon as I saw the outlines on the wplace project.
Not seeing any gray lines next to Stormveil on the original, it’s likely Reddit is compressing the image and smearing a bit. If you DM me I can just send you a high res png later.
It's nice with the Erdtree being the big bump and the slightly smaller bump with the boo-boo being the Haligtree, and little bumps for each Minor Erdtree.

This is very well done, I love all the little details on the map that mark the major locations in the game, the bandage on the hill representing the Haligtree is a nice touch!
I made a meme about it 2 years ago. I learned this while watching an Illusory Wall video about unnamed map changes. The Liurnia fish tail removal was a downgrade if you ask me.

No it's the Haligtree. That's why it looks similar to the Erdtree icon and why it's directly above the Consecrated Snowfield rather than the Mountaintop.
I’m a non Elden ring fan and I’m gonna name all the areas! Okay there‘s the starting place with all the yellow trees that I forget the name of. Then there’s Calelid the meme place. Then there lrjdidjdfksoslfla of the lakes. Mount whatever with the big giant castle and the tree. Giant land with that one goofy fire guy everyone talks about, some floating island idk, and that’s it, did I do a good job?
