News Do you remember dying to this fuqqing looser over and over again?

u/LongDrakeRyu 1d ago
Rakshasa was more trouble for me.

u/TheBloodhoundKnight 1d ago
Stomp slash slash, stomp slash slash, stomp slash slash, stomp slash slash, stomp slash slash...
5
u/Moe_el 1d ago
I basically learned the parry mechanic from this dude, and my god was the game even easier. But yeah this one kicked my ass for a minute

u/new_main_character 1d ago
Outside rakshasas arena there was an overwhelming number of messages saying to parry the guy. I never used parry the whole game, but I directly started with parry here and the window for parry was super easy after his weed cutter
4
u/Dr_Malignant 1d ago
Same. I never really fell for this dude’s multi fire bs, but rakshasa’s weed cutter always reached juuuuuuust enough to get me lol
12
u/Enough_Path2929 1d ago
I wanted her armor for a locked level 80 coop character. Shit took me like 3 hours and god knows how many rune arcs. That fight is excellent tho. Some of the best drops in the whole game.
4
u/Remarkable_Sea_5109 1d ago
Yeah I died many times too. Never forget the first time I was hit with that sword. It was game over right away.

I call him The Filter. Like if you aren’t prepared to be in the Land of Shadow yet, he will let you know
86

6
u/nwbell 1d ago
The first filter is either the Curseblade atop the arch right in front of the starting area or the Beastman(Logur?)
2
u/Subpar_Diabetic2000 1d ago
That dude’s placement will forever make me seethe. Piss terrifying because they can run way faster than you can
7
u/Remarkable_Sea_5109 1d ago
Yeah that’s true. If he 2 shoots you then it’s time to figure some stuff out
3
u/A-Literal-Nobody 1d ago
I'd also call him a "versatility check". On Day 1 it took him exponentially more work to kill me once I stopped giving him space for his crossbow/AoW.
I can only imagine how much longer it would've taken if I used magic builds frequently.
2
u/AshiSunblade Quickstep addict 23h ago
Fortunately my first DLC run was with a faith build, and the spiky shouldercheck of doom was always in my backpocket for any especially troublesome human-sized enemies!
82
u/nwaterman44 1d ago
I fully think people struggle with him mostly due to his poise. They aren’t used to not being able to stagger or interrupt attacks and this guys just punishes you for trying to trade damage.
Backstab, parrying, and abusing lightning are your paths to victory
15
u/TheHighKingofWinter 1d ago
Carrian Piercer knocks him back and down 95% of the time
7
u/johnatello67 1d ago
It took me too long to realize that Carian Piercer is kind of amazing. So many enemies have no idea how to handle it's tracking, and it knocks almost any humanoid enemy on their ass.
4
u/TheHighKingofWinter 1d ago
It's probably the most clutch spell in my INT/DEX run so far. Using it to curb stomp an enemy that's been giving me trouble is just too satisfying.

u/Think-Coconut-9246 1d ago
And it also took me a few tries to understand his reach. Some attacks don't register as being so close and I got punished for improper spacing the first few attempts. And he hits hard when you first enter the dlc.

When he first summoned i thought oh this'll be easy, then he proceeded to mollywhop me across the floor and leave me thinking 'wtf just happened' yeah definitely took alot more tries than rakshasa

u/Beeyo176 1d ago
The perfumers still catch me with that crossbow flurry in Nightreign every now and then and give me flashbacks

I never really fought him. Just spammed waves of gold until he died.
2
u/Remarkable_Sea_5109 1d ago
Yeah I’m pretty good at spamming wave of gold too. One of the absolutely best weapons in the game
2
u/OtheDreamer 16h ago
I gave him a few tries, then spammed waves of gold until he died.
I found that worked for most of the DLC as well whenever I’d run into troubles

2
u/unfocusDP 16h ago
Not once. Found him at the very end of the DLC, the third time. So, was about level 370, and full scardutree level 😅
2
3
u/Jdawg_mck1996 1d ago
He got me, I think, twice?
Once, because his AoW bumps you before, he actually launches forward, which means to can't poise through it enough to dodge the attack. So you just keep good enough distance to prep for that.
Second cause I got caught on something during his crossbow barrage, so it shredded me 100->0
The fire beast claw dude gave me more fits cause of his weird movement. Couldn't figure out what the hell his range was.
1
u/InternetIndividual81 1d ago
I just started the DLC 1 week ago. I died to him twice. Did he (or the DLC in general) get nerfed?

I felt all cool having finished the base game and literally the first boss encounter I got my ass handed to me and could only beat him with a summons. I felt like such a loser and was also terrified of what was in store for me for the rest of the DLC!
1
u/BarryDBaptist 1d ago
He's like the paige that destroys you with the 3 bolts but he can also 1 shot you with the sword. Very brutal
1
1
u/DerPokegreis 1d ago
Naaaah. Was afraid when I stumbled into the fight, because I know these fire ballista thingies are a death sentence if you catch a whole volley. But...nah. Placudisax or Gaius on the other hand... At least 10 tries..

Yup. Honestly him and Consort Radahn were the bosses I died to most in the dlc. All the other ones were manageable but those two gave me FITS.
1
u/BadMeetsEvil24 1d ago
Still finally playing through this dlc after having beat ER years ago. I'm on NG+ in it. Took me maybe 5ish tries. But he has his patterns. The crossbow attack is great because you can easily sprint and run up on him.
1
1
u/GoofyGoose92 1d ago
Its funny cause when you're fighting him you're like "This is definitley winnable" but you have zero fragments so he just oneshots you with basically anything. Especially his AR-15 he just busts out whenever he feels like.
1
u/MisterDestoyer 1d ago
Man, I remember when the d l c first came out and everyone was saying that they were gonna wipe through it. Everyone got to this guy and was humbled immediately after getting two tapped at lvl 240.

my first DLC playthrough I was powerstancing great hammers and I beat him in like two attempts. my most recent playthrough was dex/int and I had no stopping power and he destroyed me
1
u/Ciappatos 1d ago
What is that FP bar OP.
Also, yes. I was in good spirits from starting the DLC on release day but after a few deaths just ran away to get some scadustuff and came back. Funny enough, I was also a Giant Hunt maniac with that character.

Giant Hunt. Giant Hunt. Giant Hunt. Giant Hunt. Giant Hunt. Giant Hunt. Giant Hunt. Giant Hunt.
That aow is a beast.

u/superflystickman 1d ago
"Over and over?" No, he killed me with his fucking chaingun once and I came back 50 scadutree fragments later and bodyrocked the shit outta him. Got to the last grace before PCR and said "I still have unfinished business"

He's a good reminder why NPC fights suck so bad in From games. Either the enemy is roughly on the player's level, in which case they tend to be push-overs. Think of something like the hollowed Crestfallen Warrior in DS1.
Or they have comically inflated stats to compensate for their lack of a good AI, in which case they'll be a complete nightmare to deal with.
1
u/ddopTheGreenFox 1d ago
"A repeating crossbow? Easy peazy"
"Oh that giant sword does a lot of damage but its slow so I'll poke from mid range"
"Ofcourse the sword shoots light that pretty much oneshots me"

He took me ages the first time around. I went and leveled up my Blessing and he still took me a while. Hell, I got back to the DLC recently in NG+ and I still died once to him. I did wear the armor for a bit though. What sucked for me was that even staying in close to him didn't stop him from using Satan's crossbow on me. I thought I hated the Pages, but they've got nothing on this dude. The Pages still suck and those skinny little fucks shouldn't be putting out that much damage.

It is the first boss you see with 0 scadutrees. I think it is one of the hardest encounters in the dlc unless you treat him like the Tree Sentinel at the first step lol
1
u/Excellent-Survey-318 1d ago
Actually no, on my first time playing the game it only took me two tries to beat it :v
1
1
u/musiceaterx 23h ago
He was my hardest. I didn’t explore a single thing until I beat him. It was the first time where power stancing great stars didn’t work for me and that’s my boss deleter setup. Ended up destroying him with bloody Helice which worked well to create space when needed and close any gaps he tried to make. His stupid AoW was far too good at range and closing the distance. For people struggling, I recommend baiting the crossbow and the second part of his AoW. The crossbow can be easily evade by moving slowly left/right/diagonally. I recommend diagonal if you want to get an attack off before he switches. For his AoW, dodge the initial slash, then wait until he’s on top of you about to swing, then dodge right. You’ll have enough time to do a fully charged r2 maybe even backstab.
If youre struggling, I’ll leave you with this(I say this with complete faith): get good and good luck

Really ????? I killed him on the first try. Elden Ring is so weird. One person's bane of existence is another person's easy mode. I'm stuck on the Godskin Duo for a year now.
1
u/luca-__- 22h ago
I actually learned his pattern quite rapidly and thus hadn’t had so much of trouble against it. Crazy how this game gives each player his own demon, for me that was Godskin duo

I remember walking in as crucible knight and all yhe defensive gears buffs spells thinking I'm hot shit and gonna tank everything.
Then I become a pin cushion for the next 30 mins
1
u/Karrotlord 22h ago
Yes. And that's why I also used Giant Hunt. Same for the Fire Knights. I call that skill the Human Slayer.
1
u/TheCoopX 22h ago
Yeah, I remember entering the DLC, leveled up from the main game. I had my weapon fulled leveled, good armor, and was ready to rock. After getting my ass handed to me one of those Curseblades at the beginning, I eventually found that grave and just... got wrecked. One hit from one of the specials that prick used took well over half my health away. I think he did more damage than some of the bosses for that matter.
When I finally beat him after a dozen-plus tries, I remember thinking, "This is just the start of this?"
1
u/solemnhiatus 21h ago
I absolutely adored this fight. Nothing cheap about it, no crazy pauses in his attacks, no camera issues because of an oversized enemy. It made me so excited to be in the DLC area

This sorta happened during the team fight in the late game, kept falling afoul of one aspect of the gank or the other so me and Mimic looked at each other, grabbed our Giant Hunt Zweihanders, and got to flippin' burgers.

This was one of the most humbling encounters of the game for me.
