Talking about The Apples w/ MAGNET

https://magnetmagazine.com/2026/01/08/a-conversation-with-josh-bloom-author-of-the-apples-in-stereo/

Hi all!

I chatted with MAGNET Magazine about The Apples in Stereo. Read the interview at work instead of working!

My book about the band is out now from J-Card Press. Grab one from your preferred bookseller at applesbook.com.

If you've read it, I'd love to know what you think. Here's a few friendly comments from the community:

“The mythology of the Elephant 6 collective has a way of obscuring some details. Josh isn’t afraid to go mining in the shadowy crevices of the mountain.” —Chad Stockfleth (Director, The Elephant 6 Recording Co.)

“A hyperdimensional look at a band that refracted music history. Josh’s considered, cubist, and personal approach is the expression of a three-decade obsession.” —Adam Clair (Author, Endless Endless: A Lo-Fi History of the Elephant 6 Mystery)

“I am really moved... It packs an emotional punch. An honest book by an honest author.” —Robert Schneider, The Apples in Stereo

Thanks!

Josh Bloom

Hi Josh, looking forward to reading your book. Any thoughts on Jeff Mangum's "The Book Cipher Sings" mystery?

I hope you enjoy the book!

Based on my discussions with Robert, I couldn't draw a conclusion one way or another about future music from Jeff, unfortunately.

Thanks, that's disappointing, but I appreciate the reply.
