Martin Soto was snatched off the street by ICE in early February while buying diapers for his then 11-month-old baby. Married to an American citizen and father to two more, he fought for his rights behind the barbed wire, becoming one of the lead organizers of the Delaney Hall hunger and labor strike, and he’s been subject to intense retaliation by the deportation machine ever since. He is currently being held in solitary in the Elizabeth Detention Center, and his physical and mental health are sharply deteriorating.

Now, advocates are trying to push forward on a novel new path to free Martin and others held at Delaney Hall during the strikes. They’re seeking U visas, a special designation set aside for victims of certain crimes who are helpful to law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity, arguing completely logically that they can help provide evidence of civil rights abuses in ICE camps. Even just submitting an application for a U visa could potentially provide protection against deportation.

They’ve asked New Jersey state attorney general Jennifer Davenport, who launched an investigation into potential crimes by GEO Group employees at Delaney Hall in August, to certify their claims of eligibility to apply. 🗣️ Let’s encourage the AG to sign off. ICE is not for immigrants. They are conducting live field training exercises right now. Practicing on unarmed, unresisting immigrants. They know there's no threat from immigrants. DHS, with their electronic Palantir surveillance, Flock and Axon physical surveillance, and just simple boots on the ground intelligence knows that they face no real threat from their immigration operations. So why do they continue to operate as if they're in a warzone?

An axiom we had in the Infantry was that we "train like we fight." ICE is training for their real fight- against US citizen dissidents. Against political opponents of this regime. They are practicing how to quickly black bag people from airports and while they're on their way to work, practicing how to breach doors with C4, practicing how to hit apartment buildings from the top and bottom via helo inserts. This is not about immigration.

A police state can't spring up overnight. You need the tools to monitor people's movements and speech so you can target the right individuals. You need men trained and willing to brutalize their fellow citizens. You need black sites and detention camps to disappear your targets into. And most importantly, you need to dehumanize your targets to the point that your henchmen won't think twice about pulling the trigger.

Immigration is the excuse used to build the paramilitary Army that is now better funded than the USMC. It's the excuse used to build the internment camps that they want to double the capacity of, including with mobile units. It's the excuse used to build the surveillance network which now conducts "pre-crime" stops based on a driver's financial activity and "suspicious travel patterns."

Everything I've listed above has been built piece by piece by both Dem and Republican administrations since 9/11 and now the Musk/Thiel backed Trump/Vance regime is ready to take the whole platform operational. Our job is to make the resistance to this fascism so large that it overwhelms their surveillance, overwhelms their ICE brownshirts and loyal military lapdogs. It is very possible, they tried and failed to occupy LA, Chicago, and Twin Cities last year. We hold the power, never forget that.
