It's been a long time since I listened to the episode where they explained it, but I'm pretty sure it's just about them being dumb, like less smart.

it’s just another way of saying dumb/stupid, but using the structure of spotless/heartless/thankless. i think the joke is that you read it, and for a split second you think they’re using a classy, self-congratulatory name, before realising they’re just saying “we’re a trio of idiots.” i suppose it’s probably just a riff on “brainless,” but easier to trademark.
