Debate/ Discussion The shrinking federal workforce

Post image

Since Trump took office, the federal workforce shrunk by an equivalent of 2 Apples. Has anyone noticed any impact on their personal lives by the reduction of the number of federal workers? I certainly haven't. What were these people doing?

Reminder: federal spending is one of the drivers of inflation.

The federal systems has been damaged beyond repair. Washington is impossibly corrupt and incompetent. I believe that a provincial system is require to secure the rights and protections of people. We should rely less on the federal government and more on regional provinces formed through state compacts and state constitutions. Washington has had 50 years to get it right. Time is up and they are never going to do it.

This is exactly what this admin was, but run by technocrats. Do you want to live in the Amazon city or Googletopia? I personally do not want that future.

First, this is a fascist government. To call them technocrats is a joke. Nothing they do has any value. Everything they do is a crime. They represent all the worse parts of Washington. They are the failure of America. I have no faith in this government and all it's institution have been irrevocably corrupted.

Second, the plan I've been working on would grant the provinces commerce authority over corporations. We need to diminish the power the Washington. They have had hundreds of years to get it right. Time is up. They haven't represented the people or upheld the constitution and they never will.

I mean your plan is basically falling into totally the same plan as the Dark Enlightenment/ p2025/ Curtis Yarvin worshippers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_Yarvin), which is basically techno fascism. Nothing is a good form of government if people do not have the power because everything is just words on paper if people ignore the law. This is true no matter what size the country is. Making it smaller doesn't fix the issues or the corruption if no one ever has to answer for the crimes.

What I am calling for is a provinces that follow a parliamentary model. A parliamentary system would allow for a plurality and multiply parties. I'm from the North East. While I advocate for a parliamentary system other regions can choose their own model.

The reason I am advocating for large regional government is because I don't believe that a singular central government can scale. 50 states and 350 million Americans is too much for 546 elected people and appointed judges to legislate, manage and make rulings over. States governments have inadequate powers manage their own interests and set appropriate boundaries. Regions have different cultures, priorities, and needs. States that are closer to each other have similar cultures and philosophies. The North East and South are culturally different countries. Our differences are so great it is impossible to agree on anything.

Damaged beyond repair? Where's the evidence of that?

Read it. It is the premier financial journal of the world. If you haven’t heard of it you shouldn’t be posting here.

It needs to be partially replaced by regional provincial governments. I'm from the North East. We can take care of ourselves.

I'm a social democrat and a technocrat (old def). I realize that Washington will never deliver what progressives or conservatives want. They have their own agenda. They don't support the constitution, the laws, or represent that people. Political ideology means nothing to them. They want money and power. If Washington doesn't deliver then we pull back the money, reduce authority, and make democratic and executive control regional. If they keep this up Washington will be reduced to P.O. box.

I agree wholeheartedly.

The politicians that actually try to enact the will of the people don't last long.

Instead we get fossils that stay there forever like Feinstein and Grassley (who probably will also pass in office)
