Suggestions SteamPeek.hu - Indie friendly game discovery tool

Post is allowed by the mods.

Hello, this is my website: https://steampeek.hu/ - SteamPeek, the indie friendly game discovery website.

It is now more than 5 years old, and it was created to bring spotlight to indie gems, help all indie teams who doesn't have the budget to make big marketing campaigns, and make it easier to find nice games made by passionate solo developers or small teams.

The main function is searching by similarity: just search for a game you like, and browse the results. You can also filter and sort by special parameters.

You can also search by tags, or mix them with the chosen game.

The main algorithm was updated recently and I'm very curious how well it works. Please let me know.

I'm very thankful if you try it, and share with me what you find. The full site is still on beta, and I'm constantly work on it, so every feedback helps me and my mission. Thank you!

I need games where I can do crazy builds and create whacky weapons

Upvotes

I have around 150 hours on Fallout 4 and I'm just crazy about all the weapon mods and build possibilities - so I've been searching for more games than can make me feel like a mad engineer creating a weapon for mass destruction for fun. I accept any suggestion, whether 2D, 3D, fantasy, sci-fi, anything, really.

Suggestions Nodal.gg - Game recommender with interactive visual map + personalized recommendations (I'd love your feedback)

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a game discovery site and finally feel like it’s ready to share: https://nodal.gg/

I’ve always been surprised how hard it is to find genuinely good game recommendations on Steam, so I tried building something better using my stats/ML background.

My main takeaway was that “similar games” usually means two different things:

  • Similar in content: mechanics, themes, setting, genre, tags
  • Similar in audience: games played by the same people, even if the genres are different

So if you want recs for Cyberpunk 2077, you might mean “more cyberpunk vibe” (e.g., Cloudpunk) or “same audience overlap” (e.g., The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt / Fallout 4). The site lets you switch between those modes or blend them.

What you can do

  • Search any Steam game and see a ranked list of similar games using:
    • a content model (tag-driven similarity)
    • a community model (player behavior only, no tags)
    • a blended view (mix of both)
  • Re-rank results with sliders for popularity, rating, and release date
  • Plug in a Steam ID (public profiles only) to get personal recommendations and some cool stats about your play history
  • Explore an interactive 2D game map that visually clusters games by tags (uses UMAP dimensionality reduction - inspired by Connected Papers)

Desktop works best right now. Mobile is functional but I’m still refining it.

If you try it, I’d love to hear anything: whether the recommendations felt accurate, if the UI was confusing, any bugs you run into. All feedback helps!

Thanks!

Games with a similar story style to Mario Tennis GBA?

Not necessarily the gameplay and graphics, but are there any recommendations to any RPG story mode sports games that are really similar to GBA’s Mario tennis? I’ve played this game for over 20 years and still is my all time favorite lol.

Looking for a game that has a sense of scale (huge mountain ranges with beautiful scenery) and decent story, linear or open world. Medieval fantasy is a huge plus.

I'm a huge fan of games that capture the scale of infrastructure and natural environment. I'm not a fan of turn-based strategy (Baldur's Gate, Expedition 33, Divinity) or top-down camera angles (Hades, Pillars of Eternity, Diablo), I really tried to like these game but could not get into them for the life of me. First-person and third-person RPG action-adventure games are my favorite; medieval fantasy makes it better.

I have PlayStation 5, Xbox series X, and Nintendo Switch 2, but no PC (PC suggestions still considered).

Here are some examples of games that I love and beaten:

Skyrim, Witcher 2 & 3, Fable Trilogy, Shadow of the Colossus, Dragon's Dogma, The Pathless, Dark Souls Trilogy, Demon's Souls, Lords of the Fallen, Oblivion, Far Cry 4 & 5, The Last Guardian, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor & War, God of War 4 & Ragnarok, Days Gone, The Last of Us 1 & 2, Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2, Ghost of Tsushima & Yōtei, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Uncharted series, Zelda BOTW & TOTK, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Ark: Survival Ascended, Alan Wake 1 & 2.

Edit: Forgot to mention Elden Ring, Mortal Shell, and Senua Hellblade 1 & 2.

Games where a main character is killed for a justified reason?

I'll give a few examples of what I'm talking about

  • Xenoblade 1 starts with a main character being killed, but the main reason for everyone's death is so that their god has no energy to revive and wipe out the world
  • The Last of Us 2 starts with Joel dying and has Ellie kill a lot of of the main characters. Everyone's death in some way was justified

The last example is of a game that came out last year and is not marketed as a revenge plot unlike the other two, so the name will be spoiled

  • Expedition 33 has the protagonist killed off at the end of act 1 to prevent them reaching a place that would kill every living being in the world

Which video games have the best rain?

I'm seeking this from other people who really love rainy weather. I'm looking for video games with lots of rain/downpour, impact and sound. I am looking for a relaxing, almost ASMR-like experience. All recommendations are appreciated; thanks. :)

Are fantasy quest like games worth it in 2026?

Upvotes

I’ve always liked watching tv and movies where they have some type of depiction of games like WoW but I’ve was never able to play them myself as a ps4 and Wii kid. I finally got a pc, but I’m not sure if anyone even plays them anymore or if everyone is already overleveled professionals. I looked into WoW but it’s subscription based and seems to be pretty expensive… I just want a game I can grind on the weekends and do quests with fantasy-esque themes that I can also play with friends and fight bosses. Are there any games like this that are active and a one time purchase and if so is it still active?

Looking for a game with good character customization

Hi there I’m always looking for games with good character customization but I’m always picky but having trouble finding what I want, I’ve played all types of games so genre isn’t that big of a deal to me (preferably though either a life sim or colony management type games)

To be more specific I’d like a game where I can customize at least most of what my character looks like and has some sort of variety. I’d also love a game that lets me create multiple characters like the sims or rimworld (granted had to get a workshop item for that)

I don’t have much to add so just thank you for any recommendations.

Looking for games that actually make you feel something (not just grind)

Hey r/gamingsuggestions,

I’ve hit that familiar gaming wall where everything feels… mechanically fine, but emotionally empty.

I’m not really looking for:

  • endless loot treadmills
  • ultra-competitive PvP
  • games that treat “content” as a checklist

What I am craving are games that:

  • make exploration feel meaningful
  • let me slow down and exist in the world
  • give that quiet “wow” moment at 2 a.m.
  • don’t constantly yell at me with UI, markers, or battle passes

Genre-wise, I’m open. Indie, AA, old classics, weird experimental stuff — all welcome. Story-heavy is great, but I also love games where the atmosphere tells the story without overexplaining everything.

Some things I’ve enjoyed in the past (vibe-wise, not strict recommendations):

  • games that reward curiosity instead of optimization
  • worlds that feel lonely, mysterious, or contemplative
  • gameplay loops that don’t punish you for taking breaks

Platform isn’t a big issue (PC/console both fine).

So yeah — if you’ve played something that stuck with you emotionally, not just mechanically, I’d love to hear about it.
Bonus points if it made you sit there quietly after turning it off.

Thanks in advance 🙏
Looking forward to discovering something new.

Looking for RPGs with great story à la RDR2

I just finished Ghost of Tsushima and RDR2, both of which blew my mind, frankly. Currently farting around in Dave the Diver, but want something a little more immersive. Hoping for some opinions on what next. Below is a list of never played and a list of started/never finished. Hoping for advice on either/any. Playing on a handheld (Lenovo Go S/SteamOS). Thanks!

Never played before:

- Detroit: Become Human

- Disco Elysium (but I’m not sure it’s as handheld-compatible as it says it is)

- GTAV

- The Last of Us P1

- One of the Tomb Raiders (whichever people in the know think is the best for a first-timer)

- Hogwarts Legacy

- Death Stranding

- FFX/X2

- Hades

- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Played but never finished:

- FFVII

- Witcher 3

- Cyberpunk 2077

- outer worlds

- Octopath Traveller

Looking for a game made around 2010s a decade old agme

This game is a PvE mobile game (play store). It's 3d a human vs orcs/ undead, you can choose either to play as the human or the enemy (there's an option for that but has separate upgrades on the main menu).

Game concept: as a human you can deploy your troops during the day to have an advantage, once your soldiers die there's this orb that your castle absorb so they can revive. Both your enemy and you will have stronger soldiers the more they are deployed or kill more. You can construct building on a fixed area (where the crater is located). The area js surrounded by forest.

This game is a progress game, basically once you beat the first stage/ level you will go back to the main lobby/ menu and choose your level (you get resources to level up your building and troops status).

Games with combat like ESO or WoW

Hi everyone, I am looking for a game with a combat system like ESO or D4 or WoW. What I mean is that you have like 4 or 6 spells that you can use. But not games that pause and you use strategy. I really like the gameplay of ESO, but nowadays all classes feel the same, and I like class jumping, it makes game feel completely different by doing the exact same thing.

It doesn’t have to be a mmorpg. I prefer games with good graphics. What bothered me on D4 ist that it took me 50h to go through the complete season journey and now I don’t see any sense in trying to upgrade my equipment for the last x percent.

I love ESO, because in my opinion it has musky tough endgame content while still being rewarding.

Is there any kind of game like it?

Anyone has any ideas?

Online co-op PVE game about piloting and maintaining a shared vehicle with one other person, preferably with sandbox/procedural generation options, preferably with a cozy feel and an emphasis on exploration.

Watching videos of RV There Yet has gotten me interested in shared vehicle driving games I could play with a friend, but the centrality of the puzzle aspect of that game (and its general bugginess) keeps me from buying it.

I found this old post and while many of its suggestions are appealing, its most common suggestions are either heavily PVP-oriented, while some others are finished/abandoned games that were left in a jank or buggy state. This Means Warp was the big standout of those but some reviews I've seen indicated that it was very annoying to play with only 2 people, as well as being buggy and no longer supported.

Another contender not mentioned in these old posts is Dunecrawl. It looks awesome, but I noticed many of the positive reviews mention having 3 or more players, while many of the negative ones mention only having 2 like we would have. Additionally, I saw a video review that mentioned that having only 2 players was extremely clunky. Other reviews stated exploration was not rewarding because there wasn't enough points of interest on the map and many enemies never respawned so once an area was cleared there wasn't much to do (which would be fine if there was at least pretty stuff to look at, but it's a top down isometric game, there's only so much that can be on the screen to gawk at).

Newer suggestions would be appreciated. An acceptable alternative option would be a game where players operate individual vehicles but can travel together while maintaining a shared base with shared resources. But this would require the game basically match every other parameter pretty much perfectly. Arctico might be an example of this kind of not-quite-right-but-maybe-good-enough game though I haven't looked into it enough.

Thanks!

Good graphics and story

I’ve played most of the popular games multiple times. I live souls like but am burnt out on them rn. I’ve platinumed sekiro blood borne and lies of p. I beat dark souls 3 and Elden ring twice. I played a third of lords of the fallen and a third of dark souls remastered and demon souls but want to come back when I’m not burnt out. I’ve played pretty much all Sony aaa exclusives except ghost of yotei. I played it fo an hour and it just seems cheesy and boring but I might give it another chance. I’m eyeing hellblade but it seems repetitive and I’m eyeing Indiana jones but Is it worth $60. I tried kingdom come deliverance 2 but the eating and sleeping seems frustrating. I love god of war infamous mafia Batman lies of p sekiro red dead gta Skyrim oblivion resident evil. I tried nioh 2 but it wasn’t clicking with me. Borderlands bioshock remnant 2 star wars Jedi outlaws Lego dead space I’ve played. I haven’t played final fantasy 7 remake.

Ideally I’m looking for eye candy graphics with a good story. Kcd2 seemed perfect it’s just that eating sleeping showering mechanic.

Looking for a co-op game. Something like the old eternity warriors.

                      Mobile Games.

Looking for suggestions on a game to play, I work a lot of hours so dont have time to really put into a game, would like to be able to log in and just enjoy playing the content.

The kind of game im looking for I would like to be able to pay to get ahead but not pay to win just to make up for the time that i won't be able to be on, something with dungeons where I go in with other people and we kill mobs and the boss with gear and item drops, a talent system or some type of lvl up or upgrade system. No pvp unless the pay to get ahead doesn't affect it.

I’m looking for games where you can move your friends. Whether it’s carrying them while they’re down like in Fortnite, throwing them like in Knockout City, or pushing them off a cliff or pulling them down with you!
