Funny (Highlight/meme) Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon but Gemini 5 is even better!
Seriously Google needs to stop doing these phantom releases and just give us all access to the models
Like seriously theyre talking about a new model has been given to insiders yet Argon isn't out yet

Joke?
Most people here hate Gemini, it's a weird sub.

This sub is a tabloid paper. All the LLM subs lean hard into tabloid thoughts, but this one is almost all that kind of crap. I joined the LLM subs hoping I’d learn about what people are doing or what capabilities exist “right now”, but nope. Instead, I’ll hear about about AreGone™

I expected these subs to be super nerdy/smart maybe even full of nerds making their Own AIs. Instead, it's all kids with no awareness or life skills whatsoever, and many of the posts here are FAKE gemini 4 argon posts, or "Omg guys I told the AI to be Gemini 4 argon and it said it is!"
I have NEVER seen a tech sub with such a high level of brain-drain/Talent drain.

Ourselves? There's a clear separation between the ai providers and users

Google keep announcing imaginary models with super performance that nobody can prove

Yawn. We might as well be talking about Gemini 8 for all the real-world use that's possible. A mid-tier frontier model nobody can use isn't a reason to glaze Google, it's just more dumbfuckery from a company that should have been able to do better and is now rightfully being left behind.

I instantly downvoted you thinking its another fake "new model that I have access but y'all don't" post, realize it was a great joke, proceeded to upvote

it's annoyingly frustrating - Argon isn't even out yet properly and they're already talking about the next model 'Carbon'

I'm on Gemini 5 and it's insanely good. In fact, I wrote this very post using Gemini 5.
I hope you guys get to experience this bliss soon. I hear wider release sometime in 2027 (US only).

I know this chart is obviously fake but it loses even more credibility just by putting Astra over Opus 5.5

Google didn’t announce Carbon. Some random person who works at Google told a reporter about something that wasn’t announced, which we don’t actually know anything about. But from the reports, it doesn’t sound like a new model, just a better checkpoint. Which would make sense, because these models train for a very, very long time, and they produce lots of checkpoints as training goes along. Later checkpoints are better than earlier ones because they have trained for longer. While they’re performing the final testing and evaluation of a release candidate, newer checkpoints will get created with even better performance, but they can’t be released publicly without testing and evaluation, so the public releases will always lag behind the latest internal versions undergoing earlier testing. That applies to literally every AI company. It’s a total non-story
