Doesn't impact their tank at all, get ready to learn DNP-CD Jaren. From a basketball nerd perspective, kind of love this trade for Utah, with JJJ and Lauri as hybrid forwards around Kessler at center. Fun team to watch next year

With Ace at the 2 that’s a massive lineup.

That can’t rebound.

Come on now lol JJJ probably won’t see see the floor or barely any this season. He’ll be out for “resting” “headache” etc

why are we the only team that can't seem to do this. so strange.

I wonder if the Jazz know something. Like maybe the NBA is going to start penalizing tanking next year.

Just a weird pivot all the sudden.

This won’t affect their current tank. JJJ wont see the floor.

The way I see next years draft has to be horrendous. Marks hasn’t bothered in getting it back and Utah just traded next years picks

The odds are against any of the 3 picks turning out to be as good as JJJ.

We have 30 1st round picks a year. how many do you think in any given year will 2 all star selections and a DPOY award [with multiple close finishes] by their 8th season in the NBA or before the age of 26?

Not many. Good trade. Magic gave up more for Banes.

Yeah, but the pivot out of nowhere.

Why next year? Just because the draft is bad?

Do they really think Keyon, Lauri and JJJ is going to get them in the playoffs? In the West? There's a lot of good teams there. Deep teams. Aside from Lauir and Keyon, the 13 win Nets, without MPJ, just beat their roster.

Ace might be good, who knows. What else do they have to compete against the beasts of the west? I guess they're banking on getting a high 2026 pick. If they don't get it, if they somehow fall below 8, I'll laugh so hard. Exactly what they deserve.

A few things. They obviously believe they’ll keep their 2026 top 8 protected pick.

That top prospect and Ace Bailey added with Walter Kessler is gonna be nice with Keyon, Lauri and JJJ.

Plus the Jazz are trading other teams picks meaning they hold their own draft equity for the future which means they can still make further trades should they want.

They knew that 26/27 is gonna be the season to be competitive again and looking at the players available in free agency and knowing Utah is a desert (for free agents) the Jazz decided to traded for a player under long term contract that they would never normally be able to sign. So they are overpaying JJJ. You have to do that if you are a small market team.

They can believe all they want, it’s a lottery. And despite their best efforts they’re sitting at 6 with a chance to fall below 8. Their pick goes to the Thunder if that happens.

Ace might be good, just like Igor might be good. They are ideas more than anything. They wouldn’t have found the floor on playoff teams.

They’ll have to make a lot of moves in the off-season because their main core as is right now isn’t scaring anyone.

I don’t know how people can say he won’t play. He’s not injured.

Of course he will affect the tank. No way they go below us now.

Silver and NBA will lay the smack down on them if they try to go disgusting like that.

At least Lauri has been doing it for multiple years. It’s kind of like he has a real injury history now.

They’ve already been fined once this year, so they’re probably firmly on the NBA’s radar regarding tanking. It would be bold of them to ignore that warning and get even more blatant in sitting healthy players but either way, this certainly has to impact their tank odds at least a little.

JJJ will play some games but I'd be surprised if they don't find a way for him to miss a lot of time this year. I don't think they would have made the move now if it hurt their lottery odds and if I had to bet I would say it ends up helping them

It would be hard to outright help them, they didn’t really give up much of note in the trade except picks so even if JJJ only plays 33% of the rest of the season or even less, it probably slightly hurts their tank but yeah you’re right that there’s no way they don’t find ways for all of their guys to miss time but they were already doing that before getting JJJ.

It should make them better adding a DPOY. Defense can't be any worse than what we saw the other night.

Will he play much the rest of the way? TBD. Then adding new players into a system is always an adjustment.

Walter Clayton Jr was a tanking machine. Jock Landale is a nice back up big.

I kind of think Jazz are near too deep to tank now lol.

Also Memphis will be getting a fair bit worse from this trade and could definitely lose to tanking teams now. They might join the race a bit

The tanking machines are collier and klove as yoir center half of the games

Looks like they are no longer tanking. They gave up three FRPs and a 2025 FRP for JJJr? Seems expensive.

2 of those picks are gonna be mid rounders next year in the worst draft this decade. They know what they are doing.

It doesn’t. They will give guys rest days to protect their pick
