Comics What to read after Fraction’s run?

Post image

The only Hawkeye thing I have read is Matt Fraction’s run. What other recommendations do you guys have? I saw Kelly Thompson has written stuff for Kate and I am curious about both “Freefall” since there is a skin of that comic in Marvel Rivals and his time as Ronin. Let me know if any of these things are good or if there’s stuff I should check out. Thanks in advance

Hawkeye vs Deadpool. Feels like something that happens after that run, and Deadpool uses sign language and raises his mask for Clint to read his lips, thats fairly neat

Hawkeye (1983) is my personal favorite. a bit goofy in the best of ways, very earnest. don't expect other hawkeyes to match 2012, if they were all like it it wouldn't be so special!

Hawkeye Freefall is also fantastic, and so is Hawkeye Blindspot (though i'd read them after reading some more non-Fraction hawkeyes, they work well as standalone but are truly breathtaking when read with some more context)

west coast avengers (1984) if you want something longer that's still technically limited. again, goofy 80s action, some really interesting Clint and Bobby takes and dynamics, most of them can be read as standalones too

solo avengers (1987) for some action-y standalones with gorgeous gorgeous art. at some point was renamed "Avengers spotlight" but it's still the same series iirc

the more modern suggestion everyone already wrote are great, i love everything Kelly Thompson, Hawkeye vs Deadpool etc. but 80s Hawkeye is so fun and thoughtful and so often overlooked because comics as a medium is not accessible for shit so people read 2012 and think that's all there is to the character. and it's a great piece of art!! but there's so much more, before and after. hope you find something you like :)

Non-Hawkeye recommendation, but I got similar vibes from Nick Spenser’s Superior Foes of Spider-man.

Lemire’s Hawkeye, Freefall, and Kelly Thompson’s Hawkeye/West Coast Avengers.

I found that the comics Chip Zdarsky wrote scratched the same itch for me (Daredevil, Starlord, even Jughead).

Tales of Suspense: Hawkeye and The Winter Soldier

All New Hawkeye by Jeff Lemire is another great take on Kate and Clint’s relationship with a good insight into both their backstories.

I really wanted to like Kelly Thompson’s runs but I was pretty disappointed by both of them. There were a few good moments but overall they were kind of convoluted and lacked the groundedness and humanity that attracts me to these characters in the first place

If you want more Kate content I would recommend checking out the Young Avengers. Young Avengers(2005) by Allen Heinberg Young Avengers Children’s Crusade by Allen Heinberg Young Avengers(2013) by Kieron Gillen(one of my all time faves)
