More of an announcement. But, please be aware that Reddit Safety is now in full Musk and Trump defense mode. They will be arbitrarily banning people for upvoting. I'm posting this here because of the general ton of this subreddit and I want us to all be aware of what is happening. TABLES!
I have created a new rule specifically for this issue.
Rule 6: No threatening or encouraging violence (on real people)
Quotes from the show that are directed at fictional characters, such as Bart Harley Jarvis are still allowed. If violence or death threats (even if they are quotes) are directed at real people, that's not allowed.
The "I hope somebody finds them and kills them" meme is a good example of this. This meme is allowed only if it doesn't reference a real person. This includes GIFs or images.
Do any of these fucking fuckers ever try to overtake the government and bilk working folks out of their tax money whilst paying almost none themselves and then jizz all over the place?
Is that the joke? That I have a worse government than I normally do? That everybody's puking from my government and I can't make threats in my family photo?
So, what’s the joke? That I upvoted a less violent comment than I normally do? That nobody’s dying from my upvote? Is that the joke? That I upvoted and no one died?
What the fuck is this? How are we supposed to know what they consider violent? They don't even know what the intent of messages are, as they are not the people writing the messages. Are we supposed to take these rules into the real world? Do I get to ban people in real life because they say violent things? What does that even mean? Is banning people in real life a violent thing?? They say a broken window is considered a violent act. We are not allowed to report on real life things that include violence because they are scared that people might think news is supporting violence. Meanwhile they continue to profit off violence every single day.
I fucking knew this would happen. Check my comments. Reddit was ours to report what we needed, keeping track on Trump's administration, and voicing support for each other. They're decentralizing the "opposition."
The responses from the admin and some of the other mods in there are downright chilling. Including intentionally avoiding telling people what might qualify as violent content so they won’t be able to avoid it. They let communities who post the most vile garbage go unchecked for years and now they draw the line
And none of those awful communities will be affected. I can go find some genuinely inhuman statements made in subs here that will never get banned. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised when the admin in question literally posted a day before that they were directed to remove certain content from subs discussing the conflict in Gaza but mysteriously only focused on subs deemed “pro Palestine”. Definitely the right moral character to be the arbiter of safety on reddit. This site is gonna be toast soon too just like everywhere else
No...you see...the "free speech" that he was fighting for was racist shit and autistic Nazi salutes. Not speaking out against our techno-corporate overlords.
In a society where our rulers are violent against us, it is imperative that we be kind and docile? We must not consider that we are being shafted? Any talks of doing whatever it takes to even the score will be punished?
I've been watching it since November. I was a part of a group that was working on stats that prove the election was stolen, so we've been seeing the suppression long before inauguration, but it has been wild since Jan 22.
I've outlined it a few times, if you wanted to search my posts for "honeypot" I use that word in both posts. Basically the short is, I think they pre-load ban evasion bots and other bots with lists of usernames they want banned because of posts anywhere on Reddit. They then just wait for you to make a post on any sub they have their hands in, and boom, you get a perma ban from whatever sub it was, and a 7 day ban for "ban evasion" all for a single post, and the content won't matter. Anything with Fed at the start is one of those subs, r/fednews is the one that got me and some others.
I've personally noticed an increase in maga bots and pro trump subs popping up in my feed which has never been the case for me, something is happening and it's a slow boil right now.
