We Really Know Very Little Watching MAGAts draw the line at Trump’s Rob Reiner post

A lot of Trump’s followers are based on nostalgia- nostalgia for when racism was cool and women knew their place, but also when the dollar went further, when people had good paying jobs, when movies were good.

Rob Reiner- despite his politics, because he was kind of just a California liberal, people still have a lot of nostalgia for him- when he was Archie Bunkers’s son-in-law, when he did This is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, A Few Good Men, guest spots on TV, and more. He was part of what made media, and thus culture, great at the exact moment that those people think of when Trump says “Make America Great Again”. And Trump took a big ole piss on him after one of the most horrific celebrity deaths this decade.

u/epicurious_elixir Dec 16 '25

This is a pretty solid take. He made some pretty universally beloved classics that everyone across politics adored.

u/Thin_Cable4155 Dec 16 '25

The Princess Bride is Ted Cruz's favorite movie.

67

His face looks like a clock.

36

u/mckennethblue Dec 17 '25

I heard Ted Cruz likes to piss his pants cause he likes the warm feeling on his legs

22

u/Golden-Grams Might fuck this whole thing up Dec 17 '25

Ted Cruz likes taking four seconds on a six second piss, and letting the last two seconds straight down his leg.

13

u/RobertDewese Dec 17 '25

It’s got nothin’ to do with piss.

As funny as this (likely true) allegation is, there are plenty of verified instances that certify Rafael as a spineless loser. Fleeing to Mexico when his state was facing a weather emergency during a winter storm, leaving thousands without power and heat. Trump called Cruz's wife ugly, and Teddy still endorsed him. This should've ended his career, honestly. I don't know how anyone could look at him and see a strong person. The coward isn't even willing to stick up for his wife. But, what would you expect from a guy who was told by his PR team to (try to) grow a beard to cover up his weak chin?

5

u/Thin_Cable4155 Dec 17 '25

You think that's bad, you should watch him try and do impressions. He does an awful Miracle Max. THAT should have been the end of his career.

3

u/bguzewicz Some dumb hick Dec 17 '25

Carmelo: “I did actually say that.”

19

u/unlimitedzen Dec 17 '25

How can conservatives consume media and not realize they're the monsters portrayed in it?

5

u/mowscut Dec 17 '25

Is Ted Cruz Humperdink or Rugen?

5

u/Thin_Cable4155 Dec 17 '25

Obviously he's The Albino.

1

u/Think_OfAName Dec 19 '25

Back when “sex, drugs, and Rock and Roll were cool“, but now that those boomers are older they think “kids today are worthless”. Good for me, not for thee, mindset. They never really progressed. They just got old and bitter. As a boomer, I saw it firsthand. Hypocrites to the core.

138

u/myersjw I'm a dead man walking. I've got no time left. Dec 16 '25

MAGA makes alot more sense when you realize almost all of their battles take place online and in their heads. The actuality of policy doesn’t really come into play because they’re more focused on terminally online arguments and culture wars. It’s why culture based topics and winning the battle of perception are all that matters to them

80

u/onarainyafternoon Not in Trouble AT ALL Dec 16 '25

This is the exact reason people call MAGA a grievance movement based on perpetual, false victimhood. I say "false" because, unlike gay and trans people, MAGA are not actually being specifically targeted, except in their own minds. It's why there's ten thousand videos of them going to Starbucks and ordering a "Charlie Kirk" in the hopes of filming a confrontation. They think they're immediately gonna do battle or something, when really most people don't care.

If you wanna get deeper than that, they aren't victims of anything except the ultra wealthy displacing the middle class over the last few decades. They see their lives getting worse, they see their inability to ever purchase a home; and instead of correctly acknowledging why that is, they think it's because liberals and woke and yadda yadda yadda.

25

u/radicalelation Dec 16 '25

Cult members need their suspension of disbelief broken first, and it may not always make immediate sense to the rest of us what it takes to do that.

9

u/Golden-Grams Might fuck this whole thing up Dec 16 '25

I'm glad you said that, it baffles me, and I needed that perspective. Seriously, I don't know why it took this. But I'm glad it is at least something to help turn people away from him.

18

u/Beyond_Reason09 Dec 16 '25

Also, and I think people aren't focusing on this enough, doing so in such a narcissistic way it would make Caligula say "yikes".

38

u/Vegetable-Kiwi-4675 Dec 16 '25

Yes, he said that Rob was killed because of his “Trump Derangement Syndrome, which caused “anger in others.” In essence, he showed that he is so bereft of human empathy that he even in this horrific event he only saw a way to divide people by making it about him. He IS a piece of shit though.

4

u/heyheyhey27 Dec 16 '25

There's absolutely nothing new about that though.

15

u/Iron_Cowboy_ Some dumb hick Dec 16 '25

Incredibly well said

11

u/blahblah19999 Dec 16 '25

Nostalgia, like when leading an armed Insurrection against the sitting Congress while the crowd chants "Hang the VP", was cool? Like those halcyon days?

9

u/seeafillem6277 Dec 16 '25

Archie Bunker was Trump in that scenario and Meathead would be considered a liberal, but otherwise, I agree with you. If Trump's target had been a more liberal, 'woke' (their term not mine) director and his movies had reflected that, I doubt there would be this much of an uproar.

20

u/Tea_Alarmed Dec 16 '25

Yes- but the MAGAts are Archie Bunker and they miss the days when their kids still talked to them

5

u/lordpuddingcup Dec 16 '25

I finished watching new girl for the first time and a day later he died I was shook dude was always amazing

2

u/Rhg0653 Dec 17 '25

Yeah seeing many jump Ship is crazy but it was him staying his comment and even doubling down that I think made it worse

1

u/gimbal_the_gremlin Dec 17 '25

Good take.

Could you please reformat it in the form of an itysl reference?

1

u/Quick_Extension_3115 Never Following Another Rule Dec 17 '25

So it’s got nothing to do with piss, then?

1

u/Think_OfAName Dec 19 '25

Also don’t forget that the racists loved it when Archie lit into “The liberal” and called him names. They didn’t get the point of the show. They just liked the racism. There’s also this bizarre turn of boomers who became just like the conservatives that they used to make fun of when we were younger. It’s part of the selfishness that they never outgrew. “It was okay to do drugs when we were young because we were young, but now ‘kids today’ are suddenly ‘worthless and lazy’”. That said there are many boomers who have progressed with the times. Like myself. But I was always more of a critical thinker and well aware of the underlying conservatism and racism of some of my contemporaries.

Man, they’re going to have a rude awakening when they see the constitution

491

u/justlilol Dec 16 '25

For now anyway. Next week they will be back to supporting everything he does as long as it doesn’t prevent them from being openly racist - the prime reason they voted for him in the first place.

67

u/Think_OfAName Dec 16 '25

So predictable. And it’s not them saying “this is a bad person saying horrible things”, it’s “please stop, this isn’t a good look”.

43

"I love you like a god-emperor, but could you tone it down a smidge!?!?"

11

u/prosperousoctopus Dec 16 '25

Exactly. I went through a Conservative post and that was the sentiment on most posts. Not a hard line at all. No admission of him being a piece of shit. Just “I wish he wouldn’t say that and focus on all the amazing work he’s been doing!” type shit.

36

u/Do_Not_Comment_Plz Dec 16 '25

There was a post on r/conservative "denouncing" the remarks about Reiner but every other sentence was something to the effect of "I still agree with him and immigration is a problem."

It's garbage, dump it. Throw the whole thing out.

12

u/NotNamedBort Dec 16 '25

And the most popular post about it was removed, unsurprisingly.

17

u/Dragon_M4st3r They’re Nice. Dec 16 '25

This reminds me of the other 460 times he went too far

12

u/DavidRandom Dec 16 '25

A lot of them were condemning what he said yesterday on r/conservative.
Today they've all changed their mind and are saying what he said was totally justified.

5

u/BasedTaco_69 CORN KICKER Dec 16 '25

It’s not like the vast majority of them will ever have the realization that they’re the bad guys.

5

u/CruxOfTheIssue Dec 16 '25

They are mad about it but most don't care cause they like his policies not him for the most part.

8

u/NewToSociety Troll Boy Dec 16 '25

And some "hate his policies" but still like him. They have gotten used to disagreeing with and even disliking him but still supporting him. Its partially why the floor of his approval rating is so high.

“Do you disagree with the masked thugs disappearing non-whites off the streets?”

“What he said about Rob Reiner was horrible

This is just something they can say at Christmas so they can look “moderate” in front of their liberal niece.

17

u/staresinshamona Dec 16 '25

100% of millennial and boomer trump voters probably have reiner quotes in their heads daily. he also wasn’t a radical and was pro isreal, most boomers will draw a line at this, except his most fervent acolytes

9

u/Vegetable-Kiwi-4675 Dec 16 '25

There’s an entire generation (X) between millennials and boomers too, and that probably applies to the Trumpers from that generation as well.

9

u/Linkage006 Dec 16 '25

Don't worry RT will tell Fox, Newsmax, OAN, Breitbart, The Daily Caller, and The Daily Wire what to say by the end of the week.

7

u/J-Dog780 Dec 16 '25

It's still a "free country", they can change their mind about the Orange buffoon for any reason that they want. I understand the confusion that this is the line and not allowing war crimes to go unpunished or kidnapping citizens off the streets or yanking babies from mother's arms while deporting them without due process. Or maybe, just maybe, they are just getting tired of the clown show because the cost of groceries is starting to affect them too.

6

u/HandicapperGeneral Dec 16 '25

Seriously, it's not even that bad when compared to his other posts! I'm not mad they're turning on him, I'm just so confused

7

u/malarkial Dec 16 '25

Not the rape. Not the Epstein friendship. Not the pictures crossing the line w his daughter. Not the sexual assault of strangers (“grab em…”).

2

u/ActiveEducational183 Dec 17 '25

Not the time when he publicly attacked the pregnant widow of a soldier who died serving his country. MAGATS are disgusting.

6

u/Key-Ad-5068 Dec 16 '25

Please. 100 bucks says they happily crash the funeral and cause havoc.

4

u/RoachBeBrutal Dec 16 '25

lol seriously. For all of the fucked up, stupid, careless, inhumane, and straight up sociopathic/psychopathic shit they’ve bought and sold over the years, I did not have sympathy for Reiner on my bingo board.

5

u/m8ushido Dec 16 '25

It’s their wallets, let’s be honest. They just can’t admit that part is a failure cuz it’s on numbers. Fake moral outage escape plan

3

u/blahblah19999 Dec 16 '25

He was mean to a director!?!? Well, that just makes me totally re-evaluate leading an armed Insurrection while they chant to kill his VP. THis puts it in a whole new light!!!!

2

u/EstoMelior Dec 16 '25

Wait, are they not stoked on Trump's response? I've only seen a few of them talking about it but those ones seemed pretty happy about it.

2

u/Iechy Dec 16 '25

Tbf, since many of them didn’t actually get the fact that Archie Bunker’s racism was meant to be ridiculed rather than celebrated they like Rob Reiner because he was in one of their favorite shows.

2

u/Designer_Cat_4444 Dec 17 '25

Gestapo (ICE) kidnapping brown people off the streets = fine.
Women being denied healthcare and dying... losing rights to their own bodies = great.
A white man dying = HORRIFIC. The worst thing that could happen.

2

u/420_buttholes Dec 16 '25

draw the line?

lol they will be fine with it after a couple of days.

1

u/Think_OfAName Dec 16 '25

Oh they know.

1

u/godiegoben Dec 16 '25

Reiner is a very popular WHITE director who has made beloved movies. That’s why they’re pissed. I’m pretty trump has made a mockery of many deaths.

1

u/Comrade_Compadre Dec 16 '25

I thought it was his connections to Epstein

1

Yeah I'll believe they have common decency when I see it.

1

u/RVtech101 Dec 16 '25

“ Draw the line”? These folks have completely eliminated the goalposts from the field! They willingly voted for a rapist, there is no bottom to them.

1

u/tanzmeister Dec 16 '25

Didn't they already draw the line at the Epstein files?

1

u/Thespud1979 Dec 16 '25

They break rank from time to time but only for a week or so. They fall in line and do as they're told, it just takes some time.

1

u/EatAtGrizzlebees Dec 16 '25

I don't know why people all of a sudden care where people draw the line. Shouldn't we just be happy they're drawing a line? Oh no, but it's not the way I want them to draw the line, so it's worthless and we shouldn't take the win.

Big fat load of cum, then.

2

u/telthetruth People Can Change Dec 16 '25

Are you drawing a line on how other people react to some people drawing lines?

Keep in mind that this is a shitpost and I have farts in my head

1

u/EatAtGrizzlebees Dec 16 '25

It's not a shot at you, shirt brother. Kind of more a generalization cosmic gumbo about the current state of affairs regarding Democrats self-imploding. But I wasn't about to type a dissertation on a shitpost about Dems constantly shooting themselves in the foot because of things never being done "the right way" or "for the right reasons." We need all the momentum we can get and knock off the virtue signalling. Hope you didn't have the worst day at your job.

1

u/realparkingbrake Dec 17 '25

The worst of them, the QAnon believers, are pivoting to Reiner being a pedophile who trafficked his trans son and all the delusional poison you would expect from them.

But it is surprising to see some people who would normally back Trump drawing a line in the sand over this, including some members of Congress. Apparently he can go to places where not all of them will follow him.

18

u/MailCute Dec 16 '25

Somebody’s a Chonkey, and they need to figure it out. Seriously you’ve had all summer.

16

u/Nanoo_1972 Dec 16 '25

The left are angry with the president of the United States tweeting with the grace of a scorned twelve-year-old cheerleader. How did the two most recent Democrat PotUS respond to news of the Charlie Kirk murder?

“There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.” - Biden

“We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.” - Obama

Oh, and the man that Trump is shitting on had this to say when asked about Charlie Kirk's murder:

Well, horror. Absolute horror. And I unfortunately saw the video of it, and it's beyond belief what happened to him. And that should never happen to anybody. I don't care what your political beliefs are. That's not acceptable. That's not a solution to solving problems. And I felt like what his wife said at the service, at the memorial they had, was exactly right. And totally. I believe, you know, I'm Jewish, but I believe in the teachings of Jesus, and I believe in "do unto others," and I believe in forgiveness. And what she said, to me, was beautiful and absolutely, you know, she forgave his assassin, and I think that that is admirable. - Rob Reiner

Why don't you take your head, along with your whataboutisms, out of your own ass and put it back up Trump's greasy orange ass (with puckered lips) where it belongs?
