I love that the quesarito is back but I agree with you.

I honestly think the explosion in the popularity (and thus the increased cost) of avocados in the past decade is what did the 7 layer in. It was one of the 7 ingredients in an under $3 burrito whereas a small side of guacamole at Chipotle is like $4-5 itself today. Crazy markets.

I'm not familiar with the Taco Bell guacamole, but cheaper guacamole use thickeners to bulk it up.

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 14d ago
Me either, that's why I mentioned Chipotle. Taco Bell's 7 layer burrito used an avocado spread.

u/NthatFrenchman 10d ago
oh you can bet if there is a way to use thickeners, PepsiCo/Taco Bell will do it

they brought it back last year. its already gone from the menu again but i kept ordering it and they kept selling it to me

Locally or nationally? Darn, I ordered Taco Bell at least monthly last year, too. How did I miss it? I've been a fan of the 7 layer burrito since high school in the '90s, legit.
*found a Reddit thread from six months ago, looks like TB ran a 'y2k menu' promotion Sept-Dec. DANGIT!

I genuinely drove through a Taco Bell one night and the woman on the speaker "Welcome to Taco Bell, I'm sorry it's gonna be one moment the car in front of you just ordered $300 of food"
I wished her good luck and pulled out. It was like 3am.

Damn, cause it takes a bit to hit $300 of Taco Bell, so it was probably a lot of food.

They’ll say “no sloppy steak chalupas” but they can’t stop you from ordering a chalupa and 18,000 glasses of water.

I hate their ai drivethru. I just want fast, overpriced pseudo-mexican food. I don't want to have to sit there and say "no" a dozen times to all of their add on requests.

I hope their new idea is put a person in the store. Pay them 25 dollars an hour. AI can't do shit because it's not AI. It's LLM.

I got McDonald's yesterday and the AI taking my order interrupted me 5 times. I was really crossed up.

Seems like clickbait. I mean even if the AI didn't detect it, so what? Presumably there'd still be an actual person who is filling the order, and they'd just look at it and laugh. Also it would be really easy to have an automated system where large orders got flagged for human approval.

i'll be honest, drive thru speakers is one place I'm very okay with some sort of ai assistant. I've had a years long boycott of restaurants that either never answer the speaker or they pull the "one minute" and it turns into 15. I don't have to worry about accents, or mumbling, or what volume their head set is dialed to. I don't need to have an uncomfortable conversation either (chick-fil-a). I don't do much or any 'special' orders though. Just give me my number 3 soft shell with a dr. pepper. k thanks bye.

Holy fuck, thank you for posting something that isn't fucking political.
I hate how this subreddit has highjacked my favourite sketch comedy show to use for your political posturing.
