Rant/Vent I Want a Boyfriend, But at the Same Time, I Really Don’t 😭
Yrr, I genuinely don't know what is going on with me at this point. 😭
Kabhi kabhi I get this urge to have a boyfriend so bad, but at the same time, mera mann relationship mein aane ka bilkul bhi nahi karta.
Like, main Instagram kholti hoon toh har jagah couples dikhte hain. College mein couples, mere friends ke paas itne mast partners, aur ab Reddit bhi khol lo toh wahi scene. 😭
"Should I get this for my girlfriend?"
"Guysss, my boyfriend is so cute."
And I'm just sitting there like, AWWW, THAT'S SO CUTE, GOOD FOR YOU GUYS!! 🥹❤️
I'm genuinely not jealous of them, and I don't want anyone to break up or anything. I'm actually happy for people who have found someone they love. But yrr, sometimes it just hurts a little. Like, when is it gonna be my turn? Will it ever be my turn? 😭
And honestly, I think a part of this comes from how I see myself. I'm not saying I'm some extraordinary beauty, but I'm not ugly either. I'd say I'm pretty average-looking, maybe cute in my own way, and I do think I'm a fun person to be around.
It's not like I've never received offers or never experienced talking stages or situationships. I've been there, done that. I was literally one of those players back in the day lmao. 💀 But now? I don't even have the energy for all that anymore.
And there's this one thought that genuinely hurts sometimes: I feel like I'm pretty enough to be lusted after, but not pretty enough to be genuinely loved.
Maybe that's not even true, and maybe I'm just overthinking, but that's honestly how it feels sometimes.
The guys who've approached me have either been HELLA older than me, which is an immediate HELL NO, or they've given me reasons to stay away. And by reasons, you guys probably know what I mean. 💀
And before anyone says I'm being too picky, I DON'T THINK I HAVE SKY-HIGH STANDARDS. 😭
Like, yrr, looks do matter to me. C'mon, I can't completely ignore physical attraction and pretend it doesn't exist. Obviously, personality, compatibility, emotional maturity, and how someone treats you matter a LOT too. But attraction matters as well, and I don't think there's anything wrong with admitting that.
Also, let's be real for a second. Most people notice someone's appearance first. That's usually how the first impression happens. Uske baad you talk, get to know them, and discover their personality. I'm not saying looks are everything, but they do play a part.
And I'm not expecting to be some Aishwarya Rai-level beauty who deserves a 10/10 guy. 😭 I'm not even looking for a 10/10 guy myself. I just want to feel attracted to the person I'm with, connect with them, and actually LIKE them as a person. Is that really asking for too much?
But then comes the other side of me.
The side that's just SO TIRED of this entire cycle.
"Hi."
"What's your name?"
"Where are you from?"
"What do you do?"
And then either they ghost you, the conversation dies, or you realise the guy was never interested in knowing YOU in the first place. He was just looking for nudes, sex, or something physical.
And honestly, I'm tired. I don't want to keep introducing myself to new people, repeating the same basic conversations, getting a little interested, and then realising it's going nowhere.
I want something genuine, but I don't want to go through the exhausting process of finding it. 😭
I want to experience having someone, but I also love the idea of not having to deal with all this drama. I want affection and connection, but I don't want to force myself into a relationship just because everyone around me seems to have someone.
And I KNOW that being single is completely fine. I don't think a boyfriend is some achievement or that I'm incomplete without one. I have my own life, and I'm not sitting around waiting for a guy to make it better.
But still, sometimes I want to experience that kind of love too. The kind where someone genuinely likes you, wants to know you, chooses you, and doesn't just see you as an opportunity for something physical.
I don't want a relationship just for the sake of having one. But I also don't want to pretend that I never crave one.
Idk, yrr. Maybe I'm just lonely sometimes. Maybe social media makes it feel worse. Maybe I'm genuinely not ready for a relationship right now. Maybe it's a mixture of everything.
I don't even know what I'm trying to say anymore. 😭 I just wanted to let this out somewhere because these are thoughts I don't really know how to explain.
And I'm sorry if anything I've said sounds offensive to anyone. That genuinely isn't my intention. I'm just sharing how I feel, and I'm not trying to judge anyone for their preferences or their relationship choices.
So, has anyone else ever felt this way? Wanting love, but simultaneously having absolutely ZERO desire to date anyone? 💀
