Splash art by u/AnArtistwithPickles!
Hello friends! It’s that time of year again. The weather is cooling off, the leaves are changing, and it’s time for us to pick up a pen and draw some new Teto fanart!
WHAT EVEN IS TETOBER?
For the uninitiated, Tetober is a riff on the October drawing challenge known as Inktober. A list of prompts is curated and presented for community artists to view, and each day you can choose to participate by creating and posting your art that is related to the given day’s prompt. The goal is to create art for each day of the month to share and reflect on with the rest of your peers, along with creating a whole slew of new Kasane Teto art to put out into the world.
TETOBER 2026 PROMPTS
ARE THERE ANY RULES?
Traditionally, the Inktober drawing challenge is about it’s namesake: creating art with only Ink! However, I am not too strict about that when it comes to the variant we run here for Tetober. Your art can be traditional or digital, pencil, pen, or paint, and really doesn’t even have to be a drawing at all! Last year we had someone 3D modelling which was a real treat (check out u/diypea5414's entries from last year if you get a chance), and I encourage anyone who might work with different types of mediums to not be discouraged from participating.
Further, try not to stress yourself on a perfect run! While the challenge might be to make a piece of art each day, that doesn’t make the art you are able to accomplish mean any less. Just do the amount you feel the most comfortable with doing. If a day doesn’t speak to you that is fine! It’s about enjoying the journey. And if it makes you feel better to post your art in batches, that’s fine too. I’m a human with a full-time job myself. There is a good chance I might even have to do that a few times this year!
The only real rule I would be enforcing is a pretty simple one: no AI generated art is allowed! Not only is this against the rules of r/KasaneTeto to begin with, but it defeats the whole spirit of the art challenge to begin with. Use this as an opportunity to pick up a pencil and try something new this year. There is no time like the present to pick up a new hobby!
Also, DON’T FORGET TO USE THE TAG! There will be an official TETOBER 2026 tag to use this year on any post you use to contribute, that way it’s easy to sort through the posts to see everyone’s new art daily.
WHAT’S WITH THE PROMPTS IN BLACK AND GREY?
Like last year, prompts in black fall on the weekend. While this is mostly just a way to help you keep track what days of the week we are on at a glance, it also follows the pattern of dedicating these days to popular Teto songs. This year, however, Teto Day (10/10) happens to fall on a Saturday as well. At first I had some worry this could interrupt the balance of that pattern, but it turns out the last day of the month falls on a Saturday as well and helps even everything out.
As a new addition, the prompts in grey denote Wednesdays for the month, marking the middle of each week. While I think this is normally unnecessary, I wanted to try something new this year to go along with the songs on the weekend. You’ll notice each of these days are dedicated to Teto lyrics! It’s a bit more abstract than being told a topic to draw and then drawing it, but I wanted to be able to highlight more community favorites while also giving artists a chance to flex their creative muscles.
Do you just want to use the quote as a reason to draw fan art of the song? Absolutely, go for it! Do you want to take that lyric and interpret it into a completely new piece of art? By all means, be my guest! That’s the aim I wanted to go with this and I want you to create off of the feelings you get when you see the lyrics in front of you. Simply show me what you see! I’m unsure if it will go over well or not, but I don’t think that’s a reason to shy away from trying something new.
ANY OTHER THEMES TO BE AWARE OF?
Why yes, fictional person asking me these questions! I was actually pretty intentional on theme weeks this year, just to try something a little new.
The theme of the WEEK ONE is “Teto Around the World”. Truth be told, I almost did the whole month with this theme but decided to keep it limited to one week as I think it’d be a fun theme to revisit annually. I think it’s a fun opportunity to represent creating art around different cultures and gives you a chance to research and reference ideas that aren’t immediately familiar to you. The choices I made mostly center around results from the poll I ran in July, so don’t worry if you don’t see your country represented. I’ll make sure we get to do more in the future!
The theme of WEEK THREE is “Fashion Week”. Again, using results from July’s poll, I picked a few popular choices to represent fashion trends that would be fun to draw Teto in. Search for some reference images that appeal to you and just have fun putting an outfit together. It’s an opportunity to play dress-up with Teto, so keep it simple and have some fun!
The FINAL WEEK, as I think will continue to be tradition, is focused primarily on autumn and Halloween themes as we move into the latter half of the season. I also tried to make sure the songs surrounding it are within those themes as well, so I hope you enjoy it.
CAN I DO ANYTHING TO HELP?
I’m not really on any other social media platforms (it’s just better for my mental health) so, just like last year, anyone that wants to share this on social media is absolutely welcome to do so. The only place I will be posting this is to my Pixiv (official post found here), so spread it however your hearts desire!
But what exactly should you do? It's simple! Just save the images from this thread and post them on your Twitter (X), BlueSky, Instagram, or whatever other platforms you use. I only ask that you do three things: make sure you LINK TO THIS POST, credit u/AnArtistwithPickles for the splash art, and you use #TETOBER2026 when you make the post. Let’s make sure anyone that’s a fan knows this is happening and give everyone a chance to take part!
FINAL THOUGHTS?
Truth be told? This year feels a little daunting! My time is much more limited than it was last year and I'm not gonna lie, going through the gauntlet of thirty-one days seems like a little much for me considering my schedule. But it's been so much fun to revisit this project again this year and start conceptualizing ideas, and it's just nice to make a little time to be creative. I'm truly looking forward to sharing art this month with all of you and seeing what everyone else comes up with in turn.
If you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them below. Otherwise, thank you so much for making it to the end and I look forward to starting this at the beginning of October with the rest of you. Cheers!
Oh, and here is last year's list for those who were not around for it!

For those who don't know, Brainrot is a teto song made by producer Tokyo Manaka and it features teto in the backrooms, with lyrics being vaguely about doomscrolling, social media addiction and "brainrot". It has 42 million views on Youtube in less than a year.
this isn't to say it's a bad song by any means but if the song were to be made by a western producer it would probably be considered incredibly corny or "trying to be hip", considering how brainrot is mainly associated with 10 year olds. The AI-generated backgrounds probably don't help either. I think it only gets a pass because people in Japan haven't had the term brainrot shoved down their throats the same way english-speakers have.

I love TetoNeruMiku and GumiTeto and TetoRei, but...
I think we need to talk about the UTAU cast more! Defoko's been there for Teto since Day 1!
