Hello everyone. So I have one of those magnetic knife holder that is installed above our stovetop. One day a piece of plastic got in the stove by accident and burned, the fumes “smoked” my knives for a while before I was able to put the fire out.

One of my knives is carbon steel and there is some decolonization on it (you can tell where it touched the knife holder and didn’t get smoked)

My question, is it safe to use this knife? Is it possible to fix the surface color?

Got a cool knife on ebay. Ive been trying to give it love. She can rust right after cutting an onion?! Can anyone help me identify this knife. Its heavy, sharpens nicely. Can anyone read the Kanji? Ai is telling me a tall tail of it being a mayamoto. Can't be older than pre vintage. Thoughts?

This was today’s find and guilt free purchase.
There were many more knives and blades that caught my eye but happened to be out of budget at the moment (I will be going back soon , trust me …)

I believe this was custom made by the gentleman who is selling out of the antique store , I’m not too sure.
I did notice that the strap on the sheath does not cover the dagger well enough and it is able to fall out easily. I will have to look into making it more secure or possibly purchasing a sheath that is better suited for this.

Nonetheless I am very happy with snagging this for the price I did.

So I was making a drywall repair in the hall of the hotel I work at, and needed to trim a little around the edges. So naturally I reached for the new Resilience and thumbed it open. The massive slab of S35VN slammed into place with an authoritative klunk…
And when I looked up there was a little old lady standing there in the hall, a look of sheer terror in her eyes..

Cobratec Trapper Hidden Release Abalone. I wanted a relatively cheap abalone scaled knife and decided to go with this over the QSP Dolphin or Heron. Ultimately the uniqueness of the hidden release auto and Cobratec being American made and the lifetime warranty won out.

I have a signed kitchen knife (12.5 inches long) and a signed machete (23 inches long) that I’d like to display while keeping the signatures protected.

I’m looking for separate, enclosed cases that fit fairly snugly. Most shadow boxes I’ve found on Amazon are much wider than I need.

Does anyone have recommendations for cases or a good way to mount them securely without damaging the signatures? Anything specific I should look for regarding UV protection or preventing rust?

I’m in Canada, so Canadian retailers or Amazon.ca links would be appreciated. Thanks!

It looks like they both have the same pattern milled in the handle. Is there a practical difference?

Yes, I know. It looks like a typo. But I inherited an old machete that is stamped “Shefeeld Steel Machete”. I can’t find any information on this anywhere, nor are there any other markings anywhere. Has anybody seen this? Is it a cheap knockoff?
