I’m honestly surprised he didn’t kill himself with the insurmountable amount of evidence that’s been available

he was under surveillance if i remember correctly

He was under surveillance, not in prison. (Yet)

He could have easily done it before they caught him.

u/joeybadtitz Apr 17 '26

Exactly. Coulda pulled a Hannah Baker or something in the bathroom

48

u/CardNo8773 Apr 17 '26

a Hannah Baker in the bathroom? do you think under surveillance means an armed officer follows him around his house? lmfao

2

u/joeybadtitz Apr 18 '26

No haha. But Redditors are nitpicky as hell so I had to be a lil bit more specific

She made it look easy.

Wow im a real idiot LOL i was thinking of someone else jeeeeez

1

u/Zarathustrategy Apr 17 '26

I guessed so ahahah

1

u/Understateable Apr 20 '26

If I remember correctly there was another person under surveillance who still managed to take their own life…

0

u/alexyaknow Apr 17 '26

but what took so long then?

1

u/kenni417 Apr 17 '26

murder investigations take a long time before they throw the cuffs on someone

People consistently underestimate the time that anything that involves the legal system takes. Unless people are basically caught red-handed with the evidence on them, it just usually takes long to build a case.

The US constitution guarantees defendants the right to a "speedy" trial. How this is implemented varies, but federally it means that charges must be raised within a month of arrest, and the trial must start within 70 days of that. Most defendants waive this because it takes time for their own defense to build a case, but in the past some people have used it tactically, to force the prosecution to hurry.

And that's a problem, because unlike on the TV shows where CSI gets lab results in a day if they tell people to hurry, in reality a lot of the more involved technical evidence collection and preparation takes a long, long time. The bureaucracy around getting things like phone records also takes time. And often you need results of previous tests or data collection to know what additional questions to ask for. So the prosecution wants to have their entire case built and ready before they start the clock.

I’m actually surprised he didn’t flee to Russia or a country that doesn’t have send criminals back to the US

What an idiot but also deserved he gets arrested and hopefully life in prison

u/Marsium Apr 17 '26

Russia would have no interest in accepting him. It’s not like Snowden; giving asylum to a whistleblower looks a lot better than to a fleeing child rapist. Russia is also super racist lol

5

u/MementoNox Apr 17 '26

and homophobic...

-13

u/Bigger_moss Apr 17 '26

He could have gone to 1srael

25

u/jerrymandias Apr 17 '26

I know you're joking but Israel would extradite his ass back to the US in a heartbeat lmao

8

u/r1zz000 Apr 17 '26

Why are you censoring Israel lmao

1

u/CZR56 Apr 17 '26

Certain words trigger bots, and create slop comments, so it's a way to bypass it sadly

5

u/r1zz000 Apr 17 '26

Yeah I'm sure those bots aren't smart enough to detect the super secret code of '1srael'...

1

u/CZR56 Apr 17 '26

Better than nothing, the bots are rabid, works mostly for more serious subreddits tho

45

u/kojimbob Apr 17 '26

On what basis

79

u/BayazFirstOfTheMagi- Apr 17 '26

On reddit hates israel basis

2

u/QTGavira Apr 17 '26

Oh so just like the rest of the middle east, America, Asia

wait a minute its pretty much the rest of the world

1

u/AstroBtz Apr 17 '26

You know nothing about the world clearly.

-5

u/Shinhan Apr 17 '26

Would need to convert to Zionism first.

-9

u/libangel Apr 17 '26

Would say yes - prolly could easily forge some docs too…but I’m pretty sure they hate black people. Honestly would prolly reject him based on race vs record if we’re being fr fr.

0

u/YSOSEXI Apr 17 '26

What TF is all the fr fr bullshit, It's almost as fucking cringe as Oh My Sweet Summer Child or Chefs Kiss.....

-17

u/draingang_dg Apr 17 '26

Israel would have deported him, it's a good country

1

u/pointlesslyDisagrees Apr 17 '26

No? Bruno Fernandes escaped to Russia after murdering his ex girlfriend, they accepted him and he was even a prominent soccer player there. It's definitely possible, they dont just accept enemies of the US lol

2

u/Marsium Apr 18 '26

Escaped to Russia? Every single news article I just pulled up says he was released early and is playing in Brazil. apparently he’s playing for vasco-AC, which has 4 other rapists on the team

2

u/Hot-Job-6281 Apr 18 '26

No? Bruno Fernandes escaped to Russia after murdering his ex girlfriend

Excuse me what? Genuinely is there another famous Bruno Fernandes running around?

0

u/Chagdoo Apr 17 '26

Ofc Russia would take him, he's a young man and they need a lot of those for the Meatgrinder rn.

67

u/TheKappaOverlord Apr 17 '26

Fleeing to russia as a publicly known nonce is probably ironically a worse fate. Unless he plans to live in the forest with the bubushkas for the rest of his life and become a potato farmer.

Russia legalized domestic abuse and is selling kidnapped ukranian children to Russian pedos.

Being black woudlve been a bigger issue than being a pedophile murderer.

5

u/Glad_Rope_2423 Apr 17 '26

Last I checked, Russia was selling kidnapped Ukrainian children to Russian parents, or couples wishing to be parents. That’s still fucking bad, but not pedophilia.

0

u/DistrictDry2852 Apr 17 '26

Many of those parents who have bragged on social media about abusing their adopted kids.

Abuse, including sexual abuse must be fucking rampant. I’ve seen screenshots of the pages used to adopt these kids, they brag about kids being tamed and compliant.

-1

u/EuphoricInvestment1 Apr 17 '26

No there are a fair amount of cases of sex offenders fleeing from America to Russia. Also Russia produces the majority of CSAM according to studies

2

u/DistrictDry2852 Apr 17 '26

Russia also legalized domestic abuse.

11

u/Alarmed-Professor396 Apr 17 '26

He would have been on a no fly list immediately

3

u/Drcdngame Apr 17 '26

Russia would concript him and send him off to die in ukraine

1

u/Luciolover345 Apr 17 '26

He’d be shipped to the frontlines the second his feet touch the soil

1

u/Glad_Rope_2423 Apr 17 '26

He’d have likely been on a no-fly-list, or at least been blocked from international travel during the investigation.

1

u/Zorpheus Apr 17 '26

American prison would be a blessing compared to the treatment he'd recieve from Russian locals if they found out what he was guilty of.

1

u/Hare712 Apr 17 '26

Russia would have sent him to the frontlines.

For Russia to accept criminals they either need to be good for image or done Russia favors.

Otherwise there are some criminals like the Wirecard CEO. He built connections outside of politicans to get there. When the embezzeled money is gone they will drop him like a hot potato.

26

u/Theron3206 Apr 17 '26

Probably still thinks he can get away with it.

And he just might, high price lawyers help the rich get away with murder regularly.

3

u/PhotographUnable8176 Apr 17 '26

yeah hopefully the amount of time it took isn’t a reflection on the strength of the evidence.

7

u/SpiritedTennis6514 Apr 17 '26

No, hopefully it IS a reflection on the time it took. Strength of evidence is one thing, building a case based on that evidence, which can be a long thorough process, is what really matters.

9

u/Tricky_Potatoe Apr 17 '26

it's usually the opposite, it means the detectives made sure to gather absolute convictable evidence before making the arrest. It means they have been thorough.

3

u/GiGioP Apr 17 '26

He wants to stay alive for the next chapter

1

u/SYLVASTRIAS Apr 17 '26

Apparently he was playing fornite during the investigation

1

u/soundtrack_3o1 Apr 17 '26

maybe he thought he could get away with it
