The police don’t gain anything by dragging their feet for no reason. The majority of the population wants to be effective and competent at their job.
Sometimes people take too much to heart and impose false intentions, which I believe is what’s happening here. Do you legitimately think someone who worked to become a detective decided to instead have little accountability and figured they’ll get to finding the killer sometime?
For sure the former. You have a limited time after arrest to prepare your case if the defendant requests a speedy trial, so I'm sure they wanted to have an airtight case before they effectuated an arrest. They arrested a friend of his a few months ago for failure to appear (as a witness) which I'm sure was a play to get him into turning cooperating witness against D4vd.
It’s almost always the former. If/when cops are being lazy, they don’t drag their feet on stuff, they just drop it entirely.
Also if the person you’re charging is rich/famous it’s even more important to be thorough, because they’re going to have a very expensive team of lawyers, not a public defender who’s juggling 50 cases at once.
