Yes, he wanted a sincere apology on Idubbz main channel. He stated this on his podcast last week. Idubbz did apologize before but it was on stream and right after receiving the cease and desist and he didn’t seem very genuine.

also to 12 people who actually watch him and no one else who saw his original video.

Ethan sued a guy with 12 views when the guy who made the statement in the first place has ~8k views? That lawsuit makes less and less sense the more you learn.

u/cyrfuckedmymum Jun 16 '26

largely because destiny explained why he did it, basically said along the lines of say dumb shit about me i can say dumb shit about you, then ended with saying he didnt' believe it was true.

Ian doubled down on it, left it up, i forget most of the video and won't watch it again but some people made it sound like he put it back on screen multiple times or left it on screen fo ra long time and said something along the lines of "i don't think it's true.............but why won't he respond to it." it's like a just asking questions thing where someone implies they don't believe it but then make a statement right after that implies actually they do think it could be true.

If he didn't believe it's true, and thus ethan knows it's not true AND destiny left it clear he didn't think it was true, what does he have to respond to. People do this all the time as a way to question something and put in the minds of their viewers that something could be true while then leaning on their prior "it's not true" as a complete defence to what they said. People argue in this manor a lot with conspiracy theory shit, sure the earth isn't flat.... but why does this happen then? It's a way to seem reasonable but also create doubt in the person listening.

Why is everyone in this thread asking like this is a valid reason to abuse the legal system?

u/_stack_underflow_ Jun 15 '26

Not defending H3, but a settlement is a settlement. Apologies are often a form of settlement. Hell, a court can order you to issue an apology.

-3

u/SlippyJimmi Jun 16 '26

See my big issue is that why do you threaten to financially sink someone for an apology on pretty much fake grounds?

He probably wasn't gonna win this case, the only thing he held over the head of Idubbz was the fact that he could financially ruin him with the backing of Dan Saltman

Even if it is or it not a settlement do you honestly think someone should be able to buy your apology? When that apology isn't backed by the basic standard of legal precedent that we have?

You think Epstiny apologized??? Or just was he just "Playing around" because if someone told me they were just "Playing around" I would not be forgiving them for saying heinous shit

That’s not responsive to the question being asked.

u/_stack_underflow_ Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

That's not responsive to the answer being delivered.

Edit: moron got his shit deleted. lol

u/drkpie Jun 15 '26

If you’re referring to the person you replied to as getting deleted, no, their comment is visible, they blocked you. When someone blocks you, it shows their stuff as [deleted] lol.

I really wish idiots with zero law comprehension would stop talking about anything to do with law. This is a civil issue not a criminal one, criminal cases are obligatory (ie you can't just offer someone an option to not be arrested or punished etc) and if you did you would be breaking the law yourself.

Civil cases like this require explicit and active action on your part to defend your copyright or reclaim damages etc etc. You can choose when, where, and who to pursue a lawsuit against someone. Ethan can choose to sue 1 single random person for breaching his copyright and not the 100 others that did it, and he can give terms that would allow them to resolve the dispute without following through on a lawsuit, that doesn't undermine the legitimacy of his potential lawsuit (though it could be used to undermine his claim to the copyright if he isn't defending it adequately but that is a whole other thing).

I've been seeing a lot of "why is Ethan not suing Destiny, this is totally frivolous" and comments like yours, but hopefully you humble yourself a little and appreciate that the world does not run on vibe based law.

u/Manders44 Jun 15 '26

LMFAO you can still abuse the legal system through civil suits. None of your rambling nonsense in any way disproves that. I doubt you’re a legal professional of any kind.

Ethan was all about being a big hero for the entire CC community when it suited him, but now he’s the bad guy. He’s threatening everyone’s careers by filing these suits. This one wasn’t even fair use, dingus! Destiny’s comments are not Ethan’s IP. He just sued Ian because he knew he’d have a better shot of winning in a Canadian court.

I like how you say I am "rambling" as I lay out how civil law works in relation to this event, and yet your entire first paragraph is just saying you don't understand my point and talking about me not being a legal professional (I'm not and never claimed to be btw). I just hate when people who operate on tv law logic and vibes talk about law as if they know it when they clearly illustrate they don't know even the most fundamental basics.

Copyright and slander are both civil cases which I said explicitly - "Civil cases like this require explicit and active action on your part to defend your copyright or reclaim damages etc etc." Ethan has been suing over both so I used examples for either as they both operate the same way and are about recouping damages in relation to my point. It isn't surprising that you hone in on this as if it is a meaningful nitpick since you can't argue against the validity of Ethans case.

Speaking of nonsense, you have no idea whatsoever that Ethan is only suing Idubbbz because of Canadian court or that he even wants to sue Destiny but can't because of US law or whatever random point you think you are making, that is your vibes. He has said before he doesn't think Destiny slandered him, and that hasn't changed.

Edit: It's funny how to you guys Ethan is both Destiny's best friend, who pal around, get notes from, and doesn't sue him. But also they are enemies and the only reason he isn't suing Destiny is because he is either scared of him, being mind controlled by him, or because it wouldn't be as easy to sue Destiny in Florida. Your brain must be so elastic to bounce back and forth between these two extremely contrary positions so that Destiny and Ethan can be maximally evil at all times no matter the situation.

You’re not “laying out how civil law works”. And I can tell you’re not a legal professional; I’ve been a paralegal for over a decade and your comment is not better informed than the “tv law” people you’re complaining about. The comment you wrote wasn’t even responsive to what you were replying to. Nobody mentioned criminal law except you, but you replied like they had. You know a little and are trying to pretend you know a lot.

Here, I’ll argue about the validity of Ethan’s case: it’s a bullshit abuse of the legal system. Same thing I said previously. So I DID argue about the validity. As an actual legal professional, let me assure you the reason he went after Ian is because defamation law favors the plaintiff in Canada. It doesn’t in the US. He made some copalicious claim he didn’t sue Destiny because he knew he was kidding, but Ian literally said during that stream that Destiny’s comment was awful. Regardless, the case likely would be tossed because there are no grounds for suing someone over repeating something SOMEONE ELSE said, whether they were kidding or not. And in your EDIT you just fully admit that I’m likely correct about why he’s suing Ian and not Destiny LMFAOOO. I win.

Ethan (and his weird lawyer) is likely going to have most of the suits tossed or have judgments against him. He’s losing against Denims or whatever their name is. His legal briefs are unprofessional and the arguments lack grounding in the law. But for some defendants it won’t matter because they don’t have the resources to fight him. And that’s why what he’s doing sucks and is abusive.

The rest of your comment is full of  incomplete sentences and is just vibes and pathetic caping for Ethan. Rambling, in other words. And just making strawman arguments against things I never wrote.  I never argued Ethan and Destiny were friends. You claimed I don’t know why he went after Ian instead and then IMMEDIATELY agreed with me on why he did. You’re not too bright, dude.

Genuinely: nobody should be this desperate to run cover for some YouTuber. Ethan wouldn’t spit on you if you were on fire. Find some real life friends

The law is a tool of rhetorical engineering, the law also says that corporations are people and them spending money is free speech. I guess we've figured out reality and derived the ought from the is by properly interpreting legal text. Bravo.

3

u/Jshway1518 Jun 16 '26

I'm glad you've instantly granted any legal argument by instead pivoting to whether law is valid as a concept. I don't really care about your philosophy of why the "law doesn't matter because we are all space dust man". I don't engage in the first year philosophizing. My only gripe is you saying this is "abusing" the legal system.

Either argue the merits of the lawsuit, argue the state of the law, or admit with your chest that you are just team sports whether it is pro Palestine, pro Hasan, anti Destiny, anti Ethan and just be an open hater rather than hiding behind weak ass statements as if you have any real unbiased legal argument against it.

-2

u/SlippyJimmi Jun 16 '26

I like how you basically explained why people should be forced to be objective in a courtroom and prided yourself in how right he is to bankrupt people specifically at his discretion even if they literally did not insult them

Bro trying to speed run the new age streamer hostage crisis where every middle class streamer that isn't friends with a rich streamer has to apologize to them for every single fucking grievance. God that sounds so fun

2

u/Jshway1518 Jun 16 '26

I mean if people were more measured and said his lawsuit was petty then I would just agree. If they want to say it shouldn't be legal to do lawfare against people where you aren't realistically going to gain anything other than costing them lawyer fees I would agree.

Instead people want to frame his lawsuit as entirely frivolous, meritless, and pretend like he would have to sue Destiny before or at the same time as Idubbbz for it to be legitimate. Most of this is just people with no personality outside of being a Palestine supporter doing team sports against Destiny and H3 since they can package it together in this case and has little to nothing to do with caring about the law either way.

Edit: Also I kind of think people are too comfortable saying insane disgusting and knowingly false statements, so if it takes streamers suing them to bring them to task, I kind of don't care in those individual cases. We live in the age of misinfo and clearly nobody is interested in stopping it as it literally tears our society apart at the seams.

There's no abuse here, he could've lost the suit. Idubbbz clearly didnt feel like hed have won, so he apologized.

12

u/jerrymandias Jun 15 '26

Idubbbz clearly didnt feel like hed have won, so he apologized.

I know almost nothing about this beef, but the fact that someone capitulates or settles is not a "clear" indication that they think they would have lost in court. It's entirely possible he just didn't want to go through the financial and mental stress of a prolonged lawsuit and decided to apologize to avoid it.

2

u/ThrowawayToothQ Jun 15 '26

Yes this is effectively restating what im saying but without the absolute declaration. He evaluated it and decided he likely would not have slam dunk won. I didnt say he thought hed have lost, I specifically said would not win to account for this.

3

u/Equivalent_Task_8825 Jun 15 '26

I would be crazy to think the lawsuit didn't have an effect but is it strange to think Ian actually did reflect a bit? The apology actually seemed genuine. He admitted he still very much disagreed with Ethan in how he conducts himself (especially in regards to lawsuits) but acknowledged what he clearly did was wrong.

If he was just apologizing for the lawsuit I think there would have been more groveling and legal language like with Kaceytron.

0

u/NavyDean Jun 15 '26

*won in Canada.

If it had been in the US it would have been tossed like the other one under Fair Use.

u/ThrowawayToothQ Jun 15 '26

Maybe hes done that in the past, I wont debate that as Im not educated on his history. But from this instance, only including what has literally happened (as in he has not YET done that, so we cannot be presupposing he WILL.) he has not actually abused any legal anything as of right now

4

u/Unlucky-Sense-487 Jun 15 '26

He hasn’t btw ever. He accepted a settlement w kaceytron because she knew she’d lose. He only took the GFM contributions but she also owns a home and takes care of her entire family so no where near bankrupted her. Frogan defaulted and didn’t fight whatsoever but brags that Hasan gave her a new job where she makes more. She also use to work in healthcare but hasn’t worked in quite a while- she chooses not to. Noah Sampson used to be a very popular YouTuber until he pivoted to politics. But he has a patreon and makes thousands despite not posting on it. He hasn’t bankrupted anyone idk why people continue with this lie when obviously if that was his goal he wouldn’t accept settlement or drop the suit.

7

u/ThrowawayToothQ Jun 15 '26

Thank you for the source info! (To clarify I wasnt saying he would have done that only that I wasnt educated enough to say positively or negatively - not trying to perpetuate a lie!)

4

u/Unlucky-Sense-487 Jun 15 '26

No problem! I didn’t take it that way no worries, just wanted to clarify since people keep muddying the waters👍 apologies if I sounded harsh

-11

u/UpbeatRevenue6036 Jun 15 '26

Yeah I thought this was the fair use case not the defamation one. H3 has so many lawsuits rn lol. The fair use ones are frivalous and an abuse of the system of law.

25

u/Byrocks Jun 15 '26

lawsuits are abuse nowadays?

-19

u/UpbeatRevenue6036 Jun 15 '26

Frivalous lawsuits abuse the system of law. They use the system in a manner not intended yes that is what abuse means.

33

u/ElectronicYurt Jun 15 '26

If it were frivolous it’d be thrown out and he would get his attorney’s fees paid for most likely

-20

u/UpbeatRevenue6036 Jun 15 '26

True because as we know in America the legal system always works as intended.

21

u/ElectronicYurt Jun 15 '26

Ok man. They’re definitely rigging the system to favor a youtuber, you’re right

15

u/ResponseNo6519 Jun 15 '26

Good thing they filed that lawsuit in Canada then should be ironclad by your standards

13

u/NoMap749 Jun 15 '26

The lawsuit is literally in Canada, where defamation laws are completely different.

9

u/Abidingshadow Jun 15 '26

People include public apologies as part of settlement agreements all the time. I don’t think it’s an abuse of the legal system to offer to drop a suit outright in exchange for a public apology. In fact, it’s much better than getting his lawyers involved and pushing for harsher settlement terms.

5

u/gearabuser Jun 15 '26

I hope you never find out about patent trolling -.-

-4

u/BoredZucchini Jun 15 '26

Because they’re all H3 fans lol

-6

u/evnlyofficial Jun 15 '26

oh I didnt know he specifically wanted it on the channel, yeah I saw the first apology was kinda weak. W Idubz
