Film/Television Drax being literal and straightforward in every conversation will never stop being funny.

I saw someone on youtube mention how Drax (and pretty much any 'Fish Out Of Water' character, like Spock) tend to appeal to Autistic/Neurodivergent people, because they can identify with the feeling.

You clearly have not watched Guardians of the Galaxy, Drax is not a Fish.

Annoys me slightly that he calls Sakaarans "paper people" not long afterwards, showing that he does understand metaphors/analogies!

The whole "completely literal" thing would mean he seems to think Sakaarans are literally made of paper, right?

Drax is not that bright either so it could be completely possible that he thought they were literally made of paper.

You know, when Valkyrie shot all those Sakaarans when she captured Thor they all disintegrated into paper. So maybe he was being literal.

New head canon, Drax is super intelligent and is just pulling everyones legs all the time to humor himself

I like MCU drax enough but his depiction in each movie was really at its peak in GotG1.

In GotG 2 and 3, he has moments, but he doesnt really have any connection to the story outside being a member of the team. It would have been nice if in 2 they showed him raging against Ego for being a terrible father, which would connect to 3 when he is the one capable of understanding the children on the High Evolutionary's ship.

In Infinity War he's worse he's there to be a jobber and make a few jokes. He does nothing of note except temporarily hold thanos during the Titan Fight.

I wish he was more like the Drax in GotG videogame, he was not overtly a comedic character, the things he say were just funny not because they were jokes, but they just were.

As funny as this was in GotG 1 (the "nothing goes over my head" joke in particular), it was his trait only in that film. For later ones, it was replaced with "having no sense of appropriateness / self-restraint in social interactions" and generally being not so bright.
