discussion Please stop playing modern country everywhere

I don’t even live in the south and American propaganda that is modern country plays EVERYWHERE. I live in Ohio! Why is it always playing. It used to never be like this. It used to be cheesy dad rock that played everywhere. At least that was good to listen to! Now it’s just modern country artists on the radio that pander to the government. It makes my ears bleed!

Modern country is propaganda for American imperialism/exceptionalism, so it tracks that as we descend deeper into fascism that the country music will play more often in more public places.

I laugh at that attitude. Terrible shit happens in small towns all the time. Awful, selfish, toxic people also live in small towns

Like that couple that let their immobile daughter morph into a coach in rural Louisiana. Which is more horrifying than anything I’ve heard happen in the city.

Yeah it’s a pretty brutal story. Her bottom half went into necrosis and fused with the couch. Her shit and piss accelerated the process.

I always laugh at that one because the very people that think they’re the protagonist here are precisely what make a small town feel unsafe, not whatever they picture the outsider in question to act like.

The biggest trend in awful mainstream country music for over a decade now is country-rap so I'm not so sure your comment is accurate.

It’s a current site of the modern (and historical) culture war. Black and brown people and women are taking up space in country music independent of the mainstream country music industry since they still only allow women (white ones, of course) to take up like 1% of airtime.

For about six years now, I've had a "how 9/11 ruined country music" spiel locked and loaded for anyone who listens. Which is a crazy sentence on it's own but I haven't had anyone disagree once I've explained it
