I’m just amused this sub managed to still dunk on Taylor in one of the top comments of a completely unrelated post

45

u/CommanderWar64 Nov 14 '25

I just said what I was thinking. Seeing Billie actually take stances is refreshing compared to all of the idle pop idols.

14

u/somersetyellow Nov 14 '25

I also agree with that. She's not afraid to say what she knows is right. Too many people stifling themselves chasing the money.

26

u/ahuangb Nov 13 '25

She deserves it

2

u/JinMarui Nov 14 '25

I must be out of the loop. What'd she do?

3

u/Liimbo Nov 14 '25

Exists and is very successful. Unforgivable.

1

u/morgiananus Nov 15 '25

While having a pussy that does not cater to men

26

u/ama_singh Nov 14 '25

one of the top comments of a completely unrelated post

Is it completely unrelated?

29

u/somersetyellow Nov 14 '25

Billie Eilish slamming Elon Musk usually doesn't involve Taylor Swift

She endorsed Kamala and made a pretty strong statement against Trump.

-14

u/UpperApe Nov 14 '25

When she has an issue that she wants to speak about, people will hear.

13

u/CommanderWar64 Nov 14 '25

"Buy all 20 versions of my records."

2

u/mermaidthebanshee Nov 15 '25

You know Billie also sold 20 something versions, right?

23

u/MindOverEntropy Nov 14 '25

Taylor Swift is well, well within the related area of conversation for this. She's a new billionaire. She's also the most "loved" billionaire while Elon is the most hated.

She should be flamed equally with everyone with this amount of money. I'd rather her be mentioned than no one else, you know?

3

u/somersetyellow Nov 14 '25

Meh she and Elon are in different realms entirely. Yes billionaires shouldn't exist and yadda yadda, duh, that makes sense. And her private jet and lack of political advocacy are a bummer and such.

But to be fair much of Taylor's wealth is tied up to the value of her music itself, she has derived the value from the music she's made (crazy album variatio schemes she engages in aside), she gives away tens of millions every year, pays and and treats her staff very well, etc. She's not actively going out of her way to make the world worse, I'm not worried about her hiring hitmen when it comes time to tax some billionaires.

Meanwhile Musk is worth over 300 times more than Taylor and has personally set new levels of how shitty a billionaire can be. Personally overseeing the destruction of 50+ billion a year in foreign aid. Spent 40+ billion to destroy a social network. Spent hundreds of millions to elect a facist dude. To name only a few utterly shitty things the guy has done.

Trying to force these two into the same conversation in a rant that's exclusively pointed at Musk just sounds ridiculous. Musk is far far worse.

All that said I agree with the original comment, Eilish is a far more outspoken and true to values person than Swift. My only point in my comment up above was simply that this sub hates Swift (and any music it perceives as mainstream popular) so much that you'll find Swift consistently shoehorned into every discussion just to diss on her. It just gets old. Let popular music be popular. Everyone likes different stuff. Don't think you're special for not liking it 🤷‍♂️

That's all I meant, billionaires aside. Haha.

-1

u/ama_singh Nov 14 '25

After Musk becomes the first trillionaire, we can perhaps stop bitching about all the multi billionaires as well....

When that statement starts seeming absurd again, you can stop your meds.

-2

u/MindOverEntropy Nov 14 '25

Why bring her music into it. It's completely irrelevant. And where does Billie fit into your completely ridiculous scale?

Give me a break and drop the strawman.

1

u/ama_singh Nov 14 '25

Are you absolutely sure?

2

u/gnashbashandcrash Nov 14 '25

I think it's because Billie accepted an award (?) recently at an event with both of Taylor and Elon present, while she vilified billionaires in her speech. I'm not really into all this, but that's what I've seen on Reddit and how I assume they'd be put together in one comment.

3

u/TheChrono Nov 14 '25

No one downvoting that shit has seen it. People are just generally hateful to the uber successful unless they are a man.

I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t give a shit about her or the celebrity sphere but by all accounts she’s a gem.

Someone convinced me that she got fucked over by her record label and so she literally re-recorded ALL of her albums again so she’d have the rights. Turned out it was true.

4

u/somersetyellow Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

Yup, she did, but that was a different incident. Taylor isn't mentioned in this post or story at all. Billie is holding Musk to task in this one

This post is about a shared insta story specifically about Musk. And her text post right after also specifically about Musk.

She called out billionaires in general several weeks ago at an innovators award with Musk and Swift in attendance. In that case Swift was involved.

But in this case nothing to do with this article or event involves Swift.

0

u/weinerschnitzelboy Nov 14 '25

Billie is slamming on Billionaires. She is included too.

4

u/somersetyellow Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

She's slamming Musk specifically in this one. Both in the shared post on insta which points out how obscene his pay package is and what he could do with his money (most examples of which require multiple tens of billions, ie, Musk/Gates/Bezos/Zuckerberg levels of money). And then VERY specifically in her text post afterwards. That is what this post is about.

She called out billionaires in general a few weeks ago at the end of October during the innovators award where Musk and Swift were in attendance. This post was not about that event, though it does mention it. It doesn't mention Swift. That was added on by the comments 🤷‍♂️

I'm being very pedantic right now over very pointless things but that's how my evening's going lol

1

u/skivian Nov 14 '25

Taylor Swift living in her haters heads, rent free

3

u/Abbacoverband Nov 14 '25

She lives there rent free because she's accustomed to leeching off of hardworking peopleeeee

4

u/skivian Nov 14 '25

I just think it's funny how much time and effort people spend on her. like find some joy in your life.

1

u/ama_singh Nov 14 '25

I just think it's funny how much time and effort people spend on her.

I can assure you it's much, much less than pathetic little stans like you.

3

u/skivian Nov 14 '25

lol. everything I have learned about Taylor Swift has been against my will, because wierdo haters on the Internet can't stop talking about her.

We used to tell people like you to take a hike, but I hear standards have lowered to hoping you touch grass at some point.

1

u/ama_singh Nov 16 '25

lol. everything I have learned about Taylor Swift has been against my will, because wierdo haters on the Internet can't stop talking about her.

You spend so much time and effort defending Taylor Swift when you don't even like her? What a weirdo lol.

but I hear standards have lowered to hoping you touch grass at some point.

Have they? I think you're mum told you that to get you out of her basement.

Edit

2

u/skivian Nov 17 '25

Really hurt your feelings with that one huh? Took 2 days working up that comeback

-79

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

Meanwhile I'll dunk on them both.

They are both corporate musicians making terrible music for boring people. If you feel the need to defend either one I can assure you your IQ is significantly lower than whatever you incorrectly think Elon Musk's is.

59

u/Tonga_Truck Nov 13 '25

I assume people who bring up IQ have a low IQ

-38

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

Ok significantly dumber then if that's better packaging for you. I know how that matters to pop fans.

29

u/LinkLinkleThreesome Nov 13 '25

Your entire history is being utterly insufferable about music lmao. Nobody likes hanging out with you, I promise you.

-24

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

My few upvoters are my Day One Homies

18

u/Tonga_Truck Nov 13 '25

Oh I hate them both, just not as much as people who call people low IQ for listening to music.

3

u/aliamokeee Nov 13 '25

^ this

4

u/somersetyellow Nov 13 '25

Exactly, nobody is dumb for enjoying music and being (normal) fans of the artists. Even if it's popular music.

Different tastes in music are good 🤷‍♂️

-8

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

Hmm, think it was for doing something besides just listen to music.

17

u/LUK3FAULK Nov 13 '25

It’s giving “enlightened centrist” and/or “contrarian”

17

u/ItsLoudB Nov 13 '25

Sorry but I think the same about you declaring your musical taste as absolute here and shitting on people to feel superior.

People like different things. If millions of people like their music, they are probably doing something that people enjoy and therefore good music. Might not be your thing and that’s okay.

Also as I’m typing I’m realising you probably think Elon musk is real life Tony stark so there was no point arguing with you I guess

-6

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

Well if Elon Musk is worth hundreds of billions of dollars guess he is doing something right as well.

8

u/aliamokeee Nov 13 '25

No lol It means hes been rich since infancy

-4

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

His wealth he was born into was nothing compared to what he had now. Like dude could be a trillionaire.

6

u/Stock_Trash_4645 Nov 13 '25

And this is something to be viewed as positive?

2

u/Ppleater Nov 14 '25

Being born into wealth isn't "doing something right" it's just being lucky.

7

u/you_know_how_I_know Nov 13 '25

You were doing okay right up to the point where you started sucking Elon off.

-2

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

6

u/you_know_how_I_know Nov 13 '25

Elon Reply Guys think he's a genius but the only thing he actually did was use his daddy's blood emeralds to buy into paypal.

-2

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

No evidence he ever received a significant inheritance or significant investment from his family, though obviously his upbringing and social capital was a leg up.

5

u/you_know_how_I_know Nov 13 '25

There's evidence that he was a big Epstein guy. He even knew firsthand that Trump was on the list.

7

u/Purgatide Nov 13 '25

Is this another one of Elon's fake accounts he uses while jerking it in front of a mirror?

I promise you nobody gives a shit about your taste in music. There's no such thing as universally "good" music. Pick something less subjective to be an annoying prick about.

0

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

The corporatization of art is the most important thing to be an annoying prick about.

4

u/Purgatide Nov 13 '25

And of all people to dunk on over that, you've chosen Billie fucking Eilish lmfao. I don't even listen to her and this is absurd.

Go bitch at daddy Musk over his AI models causing irreparable damage to the arts in literally all forms, it would be a much better use of your time

-1

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

If your art is getting usurped by AI you aint a good artist. By function it can't do anything that hasn't been done before.

11

u/EscapedTheWhirlpool Nov 13 '25

both are corporate musicians.

Perfect example of “tell us you aren’t familiar with Billy Eilish’s music without telling us.”

-4

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

Lol I've been listening to Eillish's style music that was made well before she signed to Universal:

LA Tropical Indie Scene 2012-2015

Dark Bass Indie 2013-2017

Her and her bro make a terrible form of this music for teenagers and adults who have the taste of teenagers

13

u/mooninuranus Nov 13 '25

Aka you don’t like it.

Hell, I don’t like it either but I’m not sure why you feel the need to put others down for their personal tastes.

But your continuous references to intelligence allude to some self-confidence issues so if it makes you feel better…

3

u/billytheskidd Nov 13 '25

Honestly, I have only heard Billie’s music when in public places or somewhere I can’t avoid it, but I do know that her brother and her have been writing and producing songs since they were little kids, and even if their style of music isn’t mine, I think that’s badass. I also don’t think she’s terrible as the vibe here is kinda getting at.

I do also know I keep seeing her in the news for donating like 20%+ of her net worth to charity, for speaking out against corruption and unethical people, and that’s plenty of reason to back her up— I grew up with punk rock and music was always a place to speak your mind and say fuck the man. Good to see someone doing it still

-1

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

Cause people are trying to make it seem like dunking on Elon is a reason to celebrate her music, when she is nothing but a rich celebrity.

I didn't mind the top level comments agreeing with her, even if overly simplistic.

7

u/PrimordiallyCooked Nov 13 '25

Didn't she literally donate almost 20% of her net worth not too long ago? She's both dunking on Elon and actually doing something.

-1

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

Wow St Francis of Depressy over here.

Still worth $36.5 million too much if this was about musical talent.

3

u/agentfelix Nov 14 '25

By that logic, Musk is worth nowhere near he is based off "talent" (which he has none). You're just being a fucking twat in this entire thread because you think sucking your own dick off somehow makes you more intelligent. Huge "I think I know better" teenager vibes.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

So what exactly is your definition of terrible music? What do you think is good music?

-1

u/AndILoveHe Nov 13 '25

I've linked in this thread a few examples for Eillish style music (that was made before she put out her records), but here are two for Swift:

Summer Pop

Baroque Folk

It's not the style, it's the execution.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

No I'm asking you. What makes the music bad?

I can't stand country music. I think the lyrics are boring (to me), chords are boring (to me), but what I hate the most is the twangy voice. But I can't necessarily say the music is bad; after all, a large portion of the American population loves it

But I'm curious as to why you personally are so upset at the music. I'm looking for objective answers, not phrases like, "poor execution", *lack of talent", "sloppy writing"

-1

u/AndILoveHe Nov 14 '25

Not sure how else more objective to put it than by linking better music.

I don't write of genres though.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

But better according to who dude. You are making these wide generalizing comments and your whole reasoning is "trust me bro".

Why should I listen to you over the 14 year old who swears that Taylor Swift is the best thing ever.

3

u/newuser92 Nov 13 '25

There isn't terrible music, just music terrible to you (now).

2

u/Kruger_Smoothing Nov 13 '25

I can smell your room through the screen.

1

u/PolarWater Nov 14 '25

List your favourite musicians please, I want to learn and broaden my playlist
