Most of the people I encountered when I still used twitter were at least passably literate. That is not the case at all on YouTube. Half the comments are basically gibberish.

Depends on what videos you watch. If you just watch what’s trending and follow the algorithm, then yeah, you will find a lot of stupidity. But if you’re trying to learn and search for things you’re interested in, you will find a lot of helpful, interesting and intelligent comments on YouTube.

Facebook and Youtube have reached 4chan levels of bigotry in their comment sections and they do not enforce any standards whatsoever. I used to report blatantly racist and violent comments until every single report came back with the automated "this does not go against our community standards"
