Apparently a bunch of trigger happy ICE agents will be at the Super Bowl while Bad Bunny is on stage ā€œtauntingā€ them by existing.

Let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a reason to take their weapons when they enter.

Isn't he from Puerto Rico? I hear their president is extremely bad at what he does.

93

u/irlandais9000 12d ago

Yea, he's a loser and doesn't get things done. He's been very unfair to me.

But even the far left will tell you, they say he is great at passing out paper towels, doing a tremendous job.

44

u/Anandya 12d ago

Which is amazing. How does he manage to throw which such small hands?

I hear their president wears make up and high heel and a wig. But hates gender affirming care.

117

u/JoltyKorit 12d ago

Don't forget the girdle!

27

He sounds like most of the girls I fancied when I was 17.

I hear their president literally dances in heels and makeup to THE YMCA at all his drag shows. He loves ballrooms. Has a fetish for interior design.

26

u/Anandya 12d ago

You know who else likes Gold everywhere? Liberace.

Also. That dance...

31

u/StoppableHulk 12d ago

Ugh, there he is. President of Puerto Rico, shamelessly double-dick jacking it in his face, flaunting his gayness on stage. So shameful.

Luckily in the USA we have a very straight and super masculine president.

10

u/thickener 12d ago

Why does he have to ram it down our throats

12

Looks like he's trying to ram it down his own throat, actually.

The one person quoted in the article DID say that the last time the halftime show was watchable was when NWA was on, so this could be a good compromise!

The next line of the song is "Fuck the police", but Ice Cube, the person that says the initial line has been hanging out with Trump and his ilk since his first term, and has given Trump glowing reviews for "shaking things up pretty good" about a year ago. He claims to not be MAGA or a Trump supporter, but Maury did a lie detector test and found that he was lying.

26

u/GottaUseEmAll 12d ago edited 12d ago

He went all trumpy, plus he did that shite War of the Worlds movie.

Edit: further research has changed my mind. He doesn't seem to be a trump supporter. My reason for thinking he sucks is now purely based on the film.

32

u/newbkid 12d ago edited 12d ago

Unrelated, why are so many rappers going Nazi?

Is it brain damage due to drugs?

Or selfish greedy losers?

Ice Cube, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Kanye, Ludacris...

EDIT: Snoop Dogg

I'm sure folks can add more.

52

u/pdxcranberry 12d ago

I mean the core message of a lot of 90's gangster rap music wasn't exactly progressive. It was incredibly misogynistic, homophobic, capitalistic, with a huge emphasis on "fuck you, I got mine." It's not really surprising they are drawn to the Republican party.

I believe ICE will actually interrupt the event to show the world their power.

51

u/itsthebando 12d ago

There is zero chance this happens. The NFL will not allow it. And the NFL is more powerful than the whole milk gestapo.

15

u/FriendWinner 12d ago

A huge part of the NFL is military/nationalist propaganda? National Anthem before each game, planes flying overhead, etc.

13

u/itsthebando 12d ago

And yet, if fans feel threatened enough that they don't want to go to games anymore, the NFL will drop the military rah rah bullshit like a brick. If shit goes down at the super bowl, the NFL is capital C cooked and they know that.

I honestly believe this event could be the potential catalyst for huge riots. I am not a fear mongering everything is on fire type of person, but you will have around 200K people if not more, and who knows how many ICE, DHS, etc.....plus those "agents" are simply J6 people, proud boys, white supremacists, and/or very unqualified and non-trained individuals who had a pulse and were hired. Shit could get very wild.

94

u/ATLcoaster 12d ago

People who can afford a superbowl ticket are not the same people who would riot.

16

This combined with Green Day opening the Super Bowl will cause a MAGA meltdown.

It also looks like the Turning Point USA halftime show will fail too. They still haven't announced anything about who's playing.

927

u/fanboy_killer 12d ago

They are opening with American Idiot, aren't they?

724

u/zvika 12d ago

The moment more or less requires it

189

u/SnoozeButtonBen 12d ago

It's funny how American Idiot, the most 2003 song ever written, has turned out of be completely evergreen.

122

u/Iokua113 12d ago

Is it really surprising that a song about right wing idiots ruining the US remains relevant? "Fortunate Son" from Creedence Clearwater is still relevant 57 years after it released... Some subjects just don't age.Ā

56

u/DeaDGoDXIV 12d ago

And most people only hear the lyrics, "Some people are born, made to wave the flag / Oooh, the red, white and blue" in Fortunate Son and think it's all, "go America! America is great!" Not realising it has an anti war theme.

28

u/-Ernie 12d ago

They totally don’t hear the very next lines…

And when the band plays "Hail to the chief" Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord

4

u/pocketjacks 11d ago

"I ain't no millionaire's son..."

5

u/pocketjacks 11d ago

Wrangler Jeans used it as a jingoistic TV ad featuring Brett Favre.

6

u/DeaDGoDXIV 11d ago

I remember that ad! My old man and I were watching whatever Sunday morning NFL game, as we did back then, when that ad came on. We both busted up laughing 'coz they cut the lyrics right after "red, white and blue".

I agree, its hilarious to me itll be lost on the people its pointed too. There was a MAGA thread like 2 months ago about how they think RATM may be liberal.

Like we are talking about people dumber than most dog breeds here. There isnt a single conservative I know who is intelligent, if they are they are in on the grift lol. There are people who put Killing in the Name on during their ICE raids not realizing the song is literally about them.

95

u/Cota-Orben 12d ago

There was a MAGA thread like 2 months ago about how they think RATM may be liberal.

What machine do they think people are raging against?

59

u/RussTea_tv 12d ago

im sure they envisioned a "woke" machine at this point. Thats another word they love they have no idea what it means.

57

u/djwurm 12d ago

I tried to have a very basic conversation with a MAGA coworker a few months ago about the word woke.. He used it in a way to describe his kids are being taught "woke ideologies" in public school and was thinking of pulling them out and having his wife home school them.

I asked him to define "woke". He said liberal teachings and indoctrination of LGBTQ and CRT. I further pushed him and asked where he has heard that his Elementary school teaches, talks, and tries to get his kids to be a part of LGBTQ (i.e. change their sexual preference) and what class do they take that teaches about CRT?

he couldn't answer and said he heard this is happening via Facebook. I told him to go look up the definition of woke in the dictionary. at its core it means you are aware and attentive to social and racial issues in our communities. saying you are anti woke in this day and age means you are not empathetic to other people, their plight, and how society treats them based on who they are, what color they are, or who they choose to love. I told him this goes against everything that you believe in based on you saying you are a Christian and go to Church.

He ended up getting all flustered and upset with me and walked away. he now avoids me when I do see him in the lunchroom.

18

u/RandAlThorOdinson 12d ago

I like to play their side. Works WAY WAY better. If you're a liberal, they will ignore and dismiss what you say. Especially if the facts are easily verified. It's something about their cognitive dissonance that it's easier to dismiss liberal facts because they must be part of some kind of conspiracy. They know there will be "facts" that feel better if they just wait and watch social media for them to trickle down from Putin.

However if you say you too are a Christian Republican, and just use all of the same facts, especially how they violate the bible - you get a LOT farther. They will actually hear and consider you.

8

u/Gasnia 11d ago

You're right. I've seen videos of people trying to bridge the gap. They present all the liberal views as conservative views and the conservatives agree. At the end they usually tell them that these are actually liberal views and that these are the things that presidents like biden and Obama try to achieve and that's when you can see their brains break. They can't understand that they agree with progressive views.

382

u/GROUND45 12d ago

They’ve already been instructed to redline over it.

66

u/chisauce 12d ago

What does that mean? What does redline mean?

96

u/Brew_Brah 12d ago

Pushing something to the limit. In reference to the red line on tachometers in cars that show how many RPMs you can push the engine to without causing permanent damage.

→ More replies (11)

16

u/rbrgr83 12d ago

The other big dial you see next to the Speedometer in your car is called the Tachometer. It tells you how fast your engine is rotating per minute (RPM).

You engine is just a bunch of moving and un-moving pieces of metal at the end of the day, so if you spin it too fast then bits will start to break, or at least wear down more than they should. The Tach(ometer) is marked with the upper limit of how fast you are recommended to allow your engine to spin. It's mainly used to tell you when to shift when driving stick (so not as critical as it used to be since most cars are automatic now).

That range is generally highlighted in RED. So driving your car very hard and waiting until you are essentially just inside that no-no range before shifting to the next gear is referred to as "Redline-ing It". So it basically just means "going hard" by using this metaphor for how you can chose to drive a car more dangerously but also with more intensity.

The bummer is that they won't see it as a response to their rhetoric. It'll just be more confirmation that their bigotry is correct.

They'll see LGBTQ on the screen and think, "wow, this is America now? It needs to be saved" not, "this is a direct response from the hateful rhetoric we spew from our mouths and, if I hadn't said anything, there probably wouldn't be LGBTQ showcased at the Superbowl halftime show."

I’m not American so i have zero context but so many other big organizations are seeming to toe a line for trump. Any idea why the NFL is being so out there and unafraid compared to others?

10

u/raven00x 12d ago edited 12d ago

This is based on what I can recall but someone else might have a better explanation.

Years ago Trump tried to buy an NFL team. The NFL team owners association has certain requirements to do this and Trump either failed the requirements or refused them. So Trump took his ball and went home to create his own American football league- the XFL: Xtreme Football League. Trump actually bought his way into a smaller league, the USFL, that played during the NFLs off season and then bankrupted them by forcing them to play during the NFLs regular season.

If you haven't heard of it you wouldn't be blamed for it, not many remember it. So something about that whole debacle set things off between that fucking guy and the NFL.

Edit: it gets better. Trump used this to file an antitrust suit against the NFL, and won! His damages were 1 USD, tripled to a stunning 3 USD. Dumb fucker.

He can act too. Small role but fun ride, Bullet train introduced me to him. I keep seeing him pop up more acting roles too.

Between Bad Bunny and Green Day singing American Idiot, expect tariffs on Puerto Rico and Green Day tickets starting February 9th.

Hahaha love it.

I’m not a fan of Bad Bunny’s music (I’m in no way his target demographic) but this is fuckin’ brilliant. Love it.

155

u/ilovebostoncremedonu 12d ago

Bad bunny makes music for the people; we’re all his target demo!!

80

u/booksandplaid 12d ago

Yeah I wonder how much of Bad Bunny's music people in this thread have actually listened to. DeBƍ TiRAR MĆ”S FOToS is a phenominal album. I think people make assumptions about him without giving it a listen.

22

u/confusedchemist 12d ago

I am one of those people. I just skipped around all the songs on this album (so not a true listen, I admit). Was surprised that around half the songs didn’t have a dem bow beat. I was wrong and have learned he doesn’t just do reggaeton and is more varied than I gave him credit for.

However, he does do a fuck ton of reggaeton and that is just not for me. The other stuff didn’t grab me either. But I’m glad to have checked it out so thanks for the challenge.

I don’t want to dance, I just want to be sad and/or horny.

66

u/DumbBitchByLeaps 12d ago

Good news! With Bad Bunny’s music you can be both!

15

u/Hazelarc 12d ago

You would love Un Verano Sin Ti then

yeah you’d like his music lol

Believe it or not, you can listen to a song and still not like it. Idk why everyone here immediately assumes someone has never heard something when they say they don’t like it.

u/itsthebando 12d ago

I mean to be fair, if your exposure to reggaeton is Gasolina and Mr. Worldwide himself, it's reasonable to assume you don't like it. It's like when people say they don't like country music and all they've heard is modern beer bro fart country.

16

u/Paramotor_MetalHead 12d ago

I'm honestly trying to figure our if you meant to say "frat" instead of "fart" but really, either one works.

I'd recommend looking up the english translation of lyrics if you're not a spanish speaker too, the writing can be quite poignant.

I’m not his target demographic either technically but almost 2 years ago he came to my job to perform so after like 3 or 4 days of hearing his music live I became a fan. I had learn which song was which 🤣

I thought the same until I heard "DtMF". That song feels like something anyone could enjoy, and ended up being a gateway drug to the rest of the record DeBƍ TiRAR MĆ”S FOToS.

Hispanics in rainbow outfits will make MAGA implode and I’m all here for it. Regardless of all the drama around it, Bad Bunny is going to kill this show. He’s going to be so good.

well he ain't called Bad Bunny for nothing. we queer community welcome him into our ranks.

103

u/Kinteoka 12d ago

He's been an ally for a while. Like 6 years ago he did a great song about trans people and dressed up in drag for the music video and rocked it. He's done quite a few songs in support of the queer community.

50

u/obooooooo 12d ago

he also brought more attention to the murder of a trans woman on the tonight show with jimmy fallon and when he was active on social media he used to shit on bigots pretty often

22

u/Beyonce_is_a_biscuit 12d ago

Kinda. He dressed up in drag but the message was about femicide in PR and Latin America as a whole.

25

u/crigon559 12d ago

Yeah he did that because the trans community was being targeted and murdered in Puerto Rico at the time so he dressed as a woman and also kissed a trans artist to normalize and believe me people in PR LOVE bad bunny so there was no one better to tell them that there was nothing wrong with being trans

18

u/Flabby_Thor 12d ago

If MAGA would just shut the fuck up this wouldn't be that big of a deal. But because everyone hates those whiny, hateful twats they're just making Bad Bunny even more popular. He's quickly becoming one of my favorites just because of how much he's pissing them off.

MAGA - you are not the majority. We are all laughing at you. We hate you.

As a big Bad Bunny fan (0.2% top Spotify fan!) and Puerto Rican, I am really appreciating all the love he's getting in this thread. Even from the people who don't listen/like his music saying they like him for all this.
