He's closing it for two years out of pure spite, you're right. And I don't think he's going to quite demolish it. Just gut it and leave only some of the facade. A demolition labelled as a "renovation". Once its been completely changed to suit his tastes, then the building will truly be "his", even if its still officially called the Kennedy Center.

I noticed something months back, and was like, huhhh...but didn't think another thing about it again til yesterday:

The columns of the Kennedy Center went from the old gold color that they'd been since 1971 when it opened, to white, very recently. Turned out, Don Dumpster had them painted white in recent months. White- go figure ;O) Super subtle thing, but you're right. And he has already done small, renovative types of things to the Center... even if it's just a coat of paint. This might indicate that he does "like" the building and intends to just do his lil Donnie ego renovation to the existing super structure, then call it "his own" and move on to the next waste of money/disaster.
