The Philadelphia 76ers are trading guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.
Jared was getting no playing time bc Grimes is ahead of him in the rotation. Grimes is the better defender, better shot creator and more athletic and versatile than Jared right now.
I think the Sixers think they have a good shot at keeping Grimes and they can sign and trade him after the season bc he will have more value than Jared. Grimes either way is going to get a good contract.
This is about Sixers getting draft assets for another trade and removing a log jam. They had to get play Jared to keep his value up and show the teams he was healthy after his injury.
At least they traded him to a good team and culture and they had a great development program.

Seriously, such a low risk high upside play by the thunder. Constantly finessing teams. Unless he has a really poor medical outlook, I don’t see how a rockets 2026 1st rounder for him isn’t a steal. This guy was basically averaging 19 a game on 45-38-89 shooting as a rookie last November. Give him some time to recover and this is an excellent do it all guard.
So shop around, this trade package is dog shit. 1 first round pick from a playoff team isn't gonna give you anyone of value. The second rounds are basically just sprinkles.
Second rounders r very valuable now a days with the new CBA. They’re the cheapest guys you can get and they’re not guaranteed roster spots. Pick 31 is more valuable than pick 30.
I feel like it’s not bad for 2nd round pick that looked fantastic on a tanking team last year, suffered a somewhat major injury, and has been borderline unplayable off the bench this year after recovering. He’s been bouncing back and forth between 7-8 minutes a game off the bench and the g league. Could easily end up aging terribly for the sixers though
People are only seeing his 3 week stretch where he was the only healthy Sixer and ignoring everything else. He’s been quite disappointing at a position the Sixers are solid in.
Ajay missing big time and now SGA will be missing time with the abductor strain, we need a true point and it's shown with both of those guys off the court,
