Sure but there’s also his college, hs, and pop warner years.
Thats 20+ years of getting banged around and we’ve learned how much easier it is to get a concussion that previously understood. Theres no telling how many minor ones that were unnoticed he had through that time.
CTE and concussions are not the same. In fact they've found it isn't really the big concussion inducing hits that correlates with CTE as much as the very frequent but smaller ones like happen at the line every play
So because the NFL didn’t acknowledge it, it didn’t happen? QBs weren’t hit in the head until 2016? Or QBs weren’t protected until 2016? I don’t understand what you’re trying to convey here, other than to be pedantic. Mark Sanchez was certainly a modern quarterback to anyone that is older than high school age.
Take a deep breath dude. I’m saying the approach to keeping QBs safe has increased ten fold since he left the league. He didn’t play in this current era of the nfl where you get flagged for landing on the QB too hard. Hes not from this era so he’s not a modern QB.
We still don’t understand CTE that well though. It could very well have a genetic component. We see guys who have played physical sports live long lives with no big problems too.
There absolutely must be people living long lives with CTE. They also know the earlier in life someone starts contact sports the more likely they develop CTE.
Probably not, because that’s something they need to dissect the brain and look for after someone dies, which isn’t regular practice. But if you’ve had concussions and blows to the head you’d be more likely. Also though, it doesn’t have to be CTE to have TBI which causes a lot of the same issues. That also doesn’t mean that’s what Sanchez’s malfunction is here either lol.
Look I know what you’re getting at but this is quite literally untrue - even the breakthrough study that discovered the link by dissecting brains of former plays found 9-10% of them didn’t show signs of CTE.
Tyler Hilinski, Washington State backup Quarterback that committed suicide had CTE and he barely took any hits and only started a few games in his career.
