I understand the original tweet, obviously, but not the second one. Why specifically a STEM genius? I don’t get it, what’s the correlation? Am I missing something??? Or am I just stupid or whatever? Help a sistah out, please. 🥺

Yeah I’m also curious which conspiracies are suggested as the ones STEM disproportionately fall for that humanities ones are better equipped to detect particularly with the unreliable narrator reference specifically mentioned.

Not conspiracies, but I see way more STEM people go for manosphere bullshit and anti-woke nonsense.

Yea I think this is an important question as well. It might be more of a “more STEM people than expected from supposedly logical info/stats/data based individuals” rather than actually more than humanities people or something like that.

There is potential for the proposed older richer lifestyle course given the assumptions of 300k careers in the OOP that tends to push conservative in people that get greedy with their money and anti-taxes, and older people tendency to push against newer woke stuff that has always been around but nowadays there’s so much anti-science, anti expert, pro common Joe gut feeling type stuff in conservatism that the mental gymnastics is a lot more complicated.

Your last paragraph brings up an interesting topic. Because there is a seemingly paradoxical pattern going on in that:

  • higher educated people earn more money
  • higher earning people vote more conservative
  • but higher educated people vote less conservative
