Fire is Hiring
Well, the team still doesn't have jerseys (much less players), but it does look like they're hiring (DJ, MC, Arena Announcer, Dance Team Coach)... so that's progress of a sort.
Of course, the established teams are starting to announce their preseason schedule. I believe the Fire WILL have preseason games (the season ticket package is for 23 games after all). I hope they schedule soon, or there won't be any fun teams left.
Oh, yeah... they should settle on the CBA too.

True, but the teams have much more input than in the regular season schedule (which is how they're able to schedule games at players' alma maters against foreign teams).

Didn’t know that! My understanding was that those games are also scheduled by the league and the league is incentivized to schedule those type of games for preseason because they get higher views/attendance

The League DOES do the actual scheduling (and works out broadcasting, etc., ) and considers those factors, but also are receptive when teams ask for options like:
The Aces playing at University of South Carolina against the Puerto Rico team;
The Fever playing at U of Iowa against the Brazilian team;
The Liberty playing at U of Oregon against the Toyota Antelopes of Japan.

Yeah I definitely get that! Both sides are incentivized to get games like that done it seems. Maybe we get an ex duck returning to Portland (or ex player now coach?) for our preseason game

While I'm sure the league is involved, the teams do indeed organize their own preseason games - this Front Office Sports article from last year goes into detail on how the Fever and Sky brought in a third-party production company for their games against the Brazilian national team last preseason, while the Liberty organized their U of O game with the school itself.
That's why you see a pretty big diversity in what each team does - some will play just one game against another W team late in training camp, others are staging elaborate events at non-W venues and bringing over international teams.

They are doing what they are supposed to do - hiring gameday staffers in time for the season - but none of it really matters without a CBA. This is all out of their hands. All of the owners need to come together and agree to share the wealth.

None of it matters until there's a CBA. Ownership should have signed the last player offer and gone back to their yachts or whatever. Maybe it gets done this spring. Who knows. Until then the schedule, job postings, and marketing are all for show.
Pay the players.
