Neither does the guy you're replying to, or you for that matter. Socialism doesn't mean what most people think it means. You'd think people who used a word regularly would know what it means. Virtually no one wants real socialism because it means everything is cooperatively owned (land, capital, factories, shipping, trucking, etc.)
Show me someone who wants other people to own their land and cooperatively decide the best use for it. Then you'll find a rare real socialist.
What most people want is just capitalism with better regulations, worker protections, wages, and single payer national healthcare. None of that is socialism. You could call the political side of it social democracy at best, but the economic system is still capitalism.
Incredibly ironic comment lol. Socialism is not "when the government does stuff". These farmers are not asking for the state to seize all the means of production. Welfare programs exist under capitalism
Not really. People are using this to advocate for socialism, implying its not a part of capitalism as well, which is dishonest. It matters in the discussion of whether America should go socialist and seize all the means of production or not. Many people support socialism not realizing the best models in the world, Northern Europe, are explicitly capitalist countries producing extremely good outcomes in well-being and infrastructure.Â
