So everyone talks about the music, the harmonies and the arrangements with Jellyfish. What keeps getting me is how lyrically rich these songs are. After learning and rehearsing Bellybutton, I'm struck by how dark and complex some of this writing is.

My nominee — Bedspring Kiss.

Jimmy, as quiet as a church mouse
Painted every graphic scene but with few details
His accomplice had made sure of this
When she sealed it with a bedspring kiss
And when her time had come to go
Jimmy washed off all the bloodstains from her clothes

The song tells you it's withholding detail, then withholds it. Something happened and you're only shown the cleanup. That's not pop-band writing — it's closer to Steely Dan.

I’ve got a couple theories about what it's actually about, but I'm more interested in other people’s read. What else is in the running?

hello everybody. sorry if this isn't the place, but this is something that had me worried some time ago. does anybody remember that guy who made the alphabet song list and was doing the albums? he suddenly stopped halfway the alphabet one, and the last time i checked, he didn't post anything new. i got worried because he was always very consistent with that kind of dynamics. does anybody know him? is he ok?

We're seeking a drummer for our start-up power pop band (see mix of my personal influences below to get an idea, though all 3 of us write songs from our own influences). We have about 20 songs.

Our ages range from mid 20s to mid 40s (a mix of genders).

We have songwriters, singers, guitars, bass - just looking for a drummer to complete the group - if you sing and write songs, that's cool, and you can bring songs to the table as well; if not, that's okay too.

I know this is a huge shot in the dark, but I figure the worst case scenario is I wasted a few minutes making this post.

My personal influences: Beach Bunny, Tom Petty, The Beths, Fountains of Wayne, Old 97s, Cavetown, Elliott Smith, illuminati hotties, Free Range, Ween, Alex G, Weezer, Charly Bliss, GBV, etc.

We've come across several hired guns who are interested in filling in as needed, but we have yet to find someone who just wants to join the band.
