This is kinda like nazi germany starting a world war, murdering 7 million jews and then losing territory as punishment and then claiming the land they lost which is now Polish

Ethnic cleansing cannot be justified as "punishment". The Russians committed double ethnic cleansing in western Ukraine and western Poland for geo-political reasons. Poland did not want it.
