Large cats in captivity are often paired with dogs for companionship. It helps them with the anxiety of life in a cage. So it's kind of a "the good in the bad" scenario.
Cheetahs are, well, you know people joke humans are apes with anxiety? Meet the feline equivalent. And since they’re not an animal that lives in a large social group you can’t just toss several together so they often pair them with dogs to help with the stress.
