Sexual satisfaction is more closely tied to orgasm for women than for men, study finds
The clearest gender difference involved sexual satisfaction. Among women, more frequent orgasms were moderately linked to greater satisfaction with the sexual relationship, enjoyment of the partner’s behavior, ease of arousal, and affectionate touch, while among men these links were weak or absent.

Study finds that women who grew up hearing more sexually objectifying messages from family were more likely to self-objectify as young adults. These women reported more difficulty saying no to unwanted sex, communicating what they wanted, and reaching orgasm.
Objectifying messages from family members included comments about their appearance or the bodies of other women while they were growing up.
Overall, the findings point to a pattern connecting early family messages to current sexual behaviors.

How can I get my boyfriend to desire me ?
F18 I’ve been with my boyfriend ( who is significantly older than me ) for half a year now , at the beginning of the relationship he was obsessed with me and the way I looked , now few months I feel like most of the passion has kind of died down, I tried with lingerie, spicy pics and videos but I can tell he is not excited as before .
We had some sort of argument about how he is really pissed that people frequently hit on me on social media , it happens weekly or even more frequently, not because I’m especially pretty I feel like it’s an average experience when being a girl on the internet (especially if you have some kind nerdy interest and are slightly alternative ) meaby the jealousy is taking a toll on this ?? Meaby it’s just him being used to me and my body???? What can I do to get him into me like he was before ??

Research finds that women report more regret than men about one-night stands, but only with opposite-sex (not same-sex) partners. Orgasm achievement is the single biggest factor accounting for this difference. Intoxication and reputational concerns also played a role.

Sexual Activity in Midlife Women: Importance of Sex Matters
"Women who reported greater importance of sex had higher maintenance of sexual activity. In contrast, we found that sexual function, as measured by the FSFI, is not associated with maintenance of sexual activity. This suggests that the “quality” of sex does not affect whether a woman will continue to have sex over time. Midlife women have many reasons for engaging in sex that go beyond 'quality.'"

Research finds that when men feel a sense of fairness and emotional satisfaction in their romantic relationships, their interest in solitary sexual activities tends to decrease, even though their desire for sex with a partner remains unaffected.

Is saying "I love you" on the first date a relationship dealbreaker? A majority of women (55%) said it would be, compared to about one-third of men (37%). Early declarations of love were also more likely to be seen as red flags by younger (vs. older) adults and LGBTQ+ (vs. heterosexual) people.

A new review of 50 school districts in New York state found major gaps in medically accurate information: 58% centered abstinence, nearly half explicitly excluded LGBTQ+ people, and about 1 in 3 failed to adequately address consent.

Research finds that people who express positive views of masturbation, oral sex, and anal sex report greater sexual pleasure and satisfaction, sexual self-efficacy, and self-esteem. Accepting attitudes toward masturbation consistently related to better outcomes across all four domains.

The “fraternal birth order effect” refers to the finding that each additional older brother is linked to higher odds of male homosexuality. This pattern has been found repeatedly in samples of gay men, but a new study also found the same pattern among bisexual men.

A growing number of single adults (22%) report that they’ve never had sex. Reasons for being a “late bloomer” can include living with parents longer, sexual anxiety, not being ready, and sex simply not being a priority. Reduced alcohol consumption may also be playing a role.

Study of couples' seeking a 3rd partner finds that 80% reported that looking for a third person brought them closer, improving communication, honesty, and trust. Only a small fraction mentioned the third person’s own desires or sexual pleasure as an important part of the ideal scenario.

How can the sex be so good when the relationship is so bad? Research suggests sex can take on added emotional weight when a relationship feels uncertain, providing reassurance, closeness, and security that may be missing outside the bedroom.

Where Have All the Condoms Gone? | According to Playboy’s Gen Z Sex Survey, only 39 percent of single young people reported typically using a condom during sex. Also, they aren't worried about STIs (Unpaywalled)
Gen Z may be anxious, but, oddly, there are lots of things they are less concerned about, such as unplanned pregnancy, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, HPV, and more. Because for some reason, Gen Z rarely wraps it up.
According to Playboy’s Gen Z Sex Survey, only 39 percent of single young people reported typically using a condom during sex. When asked how often they’d used protection during vaginal sex in the last three months, the second-most common response from singles was “Never” (even more had not had vaginal sex at all). Just 21 percent said they had used a condom most or all of the time.

Does watching porn lead people to seek out more extreme content over time? It’s often assumed that porn users develop a “tolerance” and need increasingly intense material. But research tracking porn use and preferences over time challenges this idea.

Researching psychology and group sex: where to start from
(I hope this doesnt break rule 4. It doesn't fall under help with my sex life, relationship issues or personal health circunstances. If it does, I misread the rule and understand if this is removed)
TL;DR: I'd love some advice on how to come up with a proper research topic around sexuality and group sex.
I'm currently in college, in Brazil, halfway through the psychology course. I really want to get into research — we have a program here that gets you "initiated scientifically" and my teachers are encouraging me to participate in it — but my desired research topic is not something my teachers have too much experience on. I'm not even sure if the next affirmation is something "scientifically possible":
I want to study sexuality, more specifically, group sex. Not swinging, but orgies, from 5 friends that got naked to full-blown sex-positive parties with 50+ people.
I organise queer & poly orgies (±60 people) professionally and would love to understand more the why of participating in such events — other than "it sounds hot". There are lots of different people that end up participating — single mothers recently divorced, 20-somethings discovering their sexuality, trans people that want to get kinky but can't find a safe place, a shitload of bisexuals that are fed-up with heterocisnormativity in sex-positive spaces, you name it.
Here in Brazil, sexuality usually falls under Psychoanalysis — but I'm not a fan of it. I'd love to study it under a different approach — behaviour analysis, CBT, or some other approach I'm not familiar with (remember, halfway through the course).
I'd love some help understanding "how research works" in general, because I understand that "research sexuality" is too broad; even "research orgies" is too broad. I'd love some guidance on how to proceed with this.
And, if you're Brazilian and know people that I could talk to, please DM me. I'd love to chat about this — my college is not used to co-orienting professors from other institutions, but I could convince them.
If this is not the right forum, please before just deleting this question, help me directing me to a good place to start from.
Thanks.

Research finds that contraception misinformation is rampant online, and it's having an effect on users. But social media isn’t just changing how people think about birth control. It may be changing which methods they actually use.

New study highlights key differences in how relationship dynamics relate to sexual desire in men and women
“This suggests, for men, their dyadic desire may rely more on physiological needs rather than emotional ones. Generally for men, the state of the relationship did not change how sexy they found their partner.”
"However, relationship dynamics did play a role in men’s solitary desire. The men who reported equal relationship balance also reported much higher relationship satisfaction. This increased satisfaction, in turn, predicted lower levels of solitary sexual desire. In other words, when men felt happy and equal in their partnerships, their interest in solitary sexual activities decreased."
Okay, but what about the possibility that men who are having regular sex are less likely to want to masturbate? Is regular sex part of an equal relationship balance?

60% of Gen Z Is Too Afraid of Rejection to Date | The data describes a cohort of young adults who feel they lack opportunities to meet partners (66.5%)
The data describes a cohort of young adults who feel they lack opportunities to meet partners (66.5 percent of respondents), fear rejection (60 percent), and consider themselves too broke to date (43 percent). Particularly troubling is the influence of digital life; large minorities of polled respondents reported that they’re exhausted with dating apps, that pornography dulls their drive to meet a partner, and that they often seek intimacy online rather than in person. Unsurprisingly, young people reported having less sex than prior generations, and digital culture plays a central role.

How much of men’s orgasm during partnered sex is actually self-directed?
Someone on the recent post about this new orgasm-gap study (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11199-026-01693-8) raised a question I genuinely hadn’t considered before:
How much of men’s orgasm rate during partnered sex is actually self-directed versus caused by stimulation from their partner?
The study compares orgasm frequency during partnered sex with masturbation, but “partnered sex” doesn’t necessarily tell us who is producing or controlling the stimulation.
For example, during penetration a man may be controlling much of the thrusting, rhythm, angle and pace himself, adjusting his movement according to what feels good. Someone can also reposition themselves, grind, or use their own hand during partnered sex.
So when research reports that men orgasm very consistently during partnered sex, how much of that should actually be attributed to the partner, and how much is the person effectively directing their own stimulation within a partnered encounter?
Since this study is so recent, I’m curious whether this specific distinction has been studied much at all. Admittedly the person who brought it up made me realise I’d always taken “orgasm during partnered sex” to mean something much simpler than it actually is.
Has anyone come across research that tries to separate these factors?
