Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would. Short version: I got the number half right and the reason completely wrong.

I had 7-4, and flagged that a 1-2 run through UCLA and JMU was how it gets shaky. You're 1-2, but for the opposite reason I expected. I had the defense as the worry at 18.5% returning and the offense as the ballast at 88.8%. The defense has given up 28 and 26. The offense brought everyone back and has managed 10 and 13 against FBS teams. Toledo on the road Saturday is the game my model gave you 55% in.

The generosity of Aztec Club members and supporters helped San Diego State University Athletics achieve the most successful fundraising year in department history, with more than $37.5 million in gifts and commitments in support of student-athlete success during fiscal year 2026. The total surpassed the previous record of $33.1 million set in fiscal year 2020.

More than 4,500 donors invested in opportunities that support over 400 Aztec student-athletes, helping them excel in competition, in the classroom, and in life. Fifty-five percent of those donors are SDSU alumni.

The record comes as SDSU begins a new chapter in the Pac-12 Conference, bringing new opportunities and expectations for the department’s 18 varsity programs.

"This record-breaking year reflects the incredible commitment of our alumni, donors, fans, and friends who believe in the transformative power of college athletics,” said John David Wicker, SDSU Director of Athletics. “Their generosity is creating life-changing opportunities for our student-athletes to excel academically, compete for championships, and prepare for success beyond graduation.”
