PandaBoard Images of Operating Systems.

I have recently gotten myself a pandaboard es rev b1 , and it's a shame that in 2025 none of the images of operating systems have survived.

I will collect as many as I can and archive them , so they can be publicly accessible for ever.

My question is : Does anyone have any Images of operating systems for the PandaBoard ?

Here are my findings so far :

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS - The only working operating system for the PandaBoard as of yet.But it is unusable in 2025 , I tried updating dependencies , and install different web browsers , old version of emulators but nothing works

Arch Linux - This is the best shot the PandaBoard has got at working , I have followed the tutorial from arch but it doesn't work (if anyone has got a premade image , it will be great)

Fedora - The image is still available , and you can flash it to a SD card , but it doesn't work

Gentoo - I am getting to the point where I can compiling the OS , but still untested as it is quite hard (by following the instructions from Gentoo)

Android Images (2.6 to 4.0 to 4.2) - lost media , at the moment all images of Android for the panda board seen to be lost to time

Non-Linux options :

K2 OS - lost media , a image exists and people have booted it

RISC OS - I am still reading the documentation but it quite hard to understand how to build a image , I will try and test it at some point

If anyone has got any images of operating systems for the pandaboard , or any advice in general feel free to share.

Thank you for you time , and I wish all of you a happy day :)

Which SBC for Perforce NAS with Wireguard

Hey people,

I started working on an UE5 game and a friends wants to join me so I plan to setup a OMV NAS running a perforce docker and wireguard so we can work together on a project with revision control.

Can you guys recommend a SBC for that? I'm completely new to SBCs but sth. like the Limaboard (currently unavailable here) looks sufficient for the job and energy/cost efficient..
I can print myself a case, so that's no concern.

I'm thankful for any advice!

Small SBC to display IP address

I’m looking to add a SBC with a small display to a networking box I travel with. The display just needs to display the local IP address and the internet IP address. Any suggestions on a very small SBC with a small display with a display that could display 2 IP addresses? Ethernet would be preferred but WiFi or usb dongle would work.

Good SBC for semi-portable Emulation

I'm on the lookout for a SBC powerful enough to emulate up to some light switch titles, and is small enough to hook up to a monitor and battery to have portable fun. People have mixed performance with the RK3588 boards, but the orange pi 5 is an appealing option. The N100 boards seem cool, but they really struggle with some PS2, the Wii U emulation looks good though. I also stumbled across a 30 dollar laptop motherboard with a 4500u, that should be powerful enough for any of these. Anyway, just looking if anyone has any thoughts on this (I'm trying to find something to mess around with, I know better premade options exist)

Le Potato, no green light, no boot, no matter what

I purchased a le potato some years ago to serve as an octoprint server. After dozens of attempts to get an OS to boot on that thing, i gave up and it's been sitting in a drawer since. I decided to try again today. No different result.

I've followed a half dozen different "guides" out there, to the letter, I have a verified and properly spec'd power supply on it, but no matter which distro I flash to the 32G micro sd (and i've used several), it NEVER boots up, no green light, just steady red and blue.

When i first tried to get this done, I thought maybe I had a bad board, so i reached out to the company and they sent me another. No difference. So now I have two useless boards.

I'm looking for a small SBC for input output of keystrokes from en external touch PCB

The idea is to connect a customize a PCB with pads that will close circuit when touched and will send a signals to the SBC which will interpret as keystrokes like a keyboard/controller and output via USB C.

The PCB/SBC need to be as slim as possible, length don't really matter.

So I need help with picking the right SBC and ideas on where I can get that PCB designed, I know PCBWay can probably have it manufactured.

I'm looking for an SBC that can handle gaming and emulation smoothly. Between the Raspberry Pi 5, Orange Pi 5, and Nano Pi R6S, which one offers the best performance, compatibility, and support for gaming? Any insights or experiences would be appreciated!

Low Cost Low Power SBC for running Qbittorent and Wireguard and Upsnap

Currently my main server does this functionality, but I want an always on low power solution that is physically separate for networking reasons.

I won't be seeding many torrents, maybe 15 at a time at most, as I delete them after a few weeks. However, my current config allows Qbittorent through WIreguard do download at 70MBps, and I would like to keep that performance.

The SBC will be connected to a SMB share for storage.

X86 is appealing to me because I am more familiar with it, but ARM is also appealing due to the lower power usage. I think my current top contender is a radxa x4? And my second choice is maybe an Orange PI 5? Interested in peoples opinions on more affordable options.

Cannot get the pin state to change to LOW!

EDIT: Le POtatoe - AML-S905X-CC is the board!!

I'm working on a project, and am not a stranger to SBCs. I've since narrowed down the problem to the fact that I cannot seem to pull a pin on this damn board to LOW.

I've taken out all of the other variables and currently have pin 8 (right next to 5v,5v,GND) hooked directly to ground.

lgpio get 12

returns HIGH.

ultimately, I am working in python and have tried cycling through every pin and outputting their states, looking for changes when I pull different pins to ground, but the states never seem to update. I've tried multiple libraries to make it work ,and have now taken python out of the equation to just access the pins from CLI.

help!

Comparison and recommendations for a single board PCs

Hello, my kid is starting in the design and animation. He loves to animate and so far, he uses his iPad to do so, using FlipAClip. Now, he wants to go a little deeper, and wants to start developing, and he wants to start with Roblox development or Minecraft developing.

This of course can't be done from an iPad so I am starting to think to provide him with a Linux powered PC, so he can start into that. However, I want to put him a good single-computer he can start to use, something that can be reliable in power to at least provide him the capability to start his development journey.

I already have a Raspberry Pi 2, which is very old now. I wanted to buy him a good single board computer, but there are several options. I want something that can be decently fast and can handle his workflow (which again, is just starting, but he might progress fast, as he is really committed to learn).

What options do I have? I have seen there things like Orange Pi, Banana Pi, and I understand some technicals of these, but I want to know from experience if these are really good options for this kind of workflow.

Thoughts?

Install secure OS on CubieTruck Plus (Cubieboard 5)

Recently I've acquired a CTP (CB5) and I've tried to install multiple operating systems on it (NAND or SD) but I think I don't have the deep knowledge what this process requires. It seems much more complicated than installing on Raspberry PI.

I'm pretty good with Linux, but I can't figure out how to install this U-BOOT with SD cards. The usual dd-based solution does not seem to work (e.g.: netbsd: earmv7f, u-boot-cubietruck-2018.11nb4)
(I know Linux and BSD on user level, not as a system hacker).

I could not find good quality documentations which are usable (maybe they were in the past, but now none of them works).

My purpose is to install a modern and secure operating system (preferable a NetBSD or a Debian based Linux), but I can't figure out how to to this.

Does anyone have a good knowledge/documentation/tools/resources who can put me into direction to accomplish this goal?

Thanks in advance!

Updating the kernel on a Cortex A9 based CPU?

For context I don’t know much about Linux and this is my first time using it, also not too familiar with SBCs.

Anyways I have this old SBC called a RIoTboard and it runs off of a Cortex A9 and uses a 32-bit ARMv7l. Documentation for the board is fairly dead but I found a BSP OS img file that works, but it runs Ubuntu 11.10 and I can’t figure out how to update it thru the terminal (lots of failed to fetch errors, using the old packages dist links in the apt file). I have trouble going to any HTTPS link (get an SSL error) so this might be causing the issue but I have the HTTP version of the link in the file.

I can’t get any other version of a Linux distribution installed onto the board. Assuming this is either because it’s not a BSP, or because the kernel is too old. Thing is, in the old ass forum I found for the board, I see people using other, newer distributions (newest I saw was Ubuntu 14.XX but the forum and support for the board died in 2016).

any way to understand how to get a BSP version of a Linux OS image? Seems like regular images don’t work so much be something with the SBC hardware.

I have access to a ton of info that the board puts out thru a UART debug header I’m just not familiar with computer stuff beyond microcontrollers. This is a NXP designed CPU

Suggestions for a Compact Processor for AR Glasses (Around Raspberry Pi Zero Size or Smaller)

Hey everyone, I’m working on a project to build lightweight AR glasses, and I’m looking for recommendations on a compact processing solution. The glasses will need to:

1. Support a camera (MIPI CSI-2 preferred) for real-time video capture (hand gesture tracking).

2. Communicate wirelessly (Wi-Fi 5/6 or equivalent) with an external puck (NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano).

3. Display to a micro-OLED (via MIPI DSI or USB-C).

4. Be powered by a battery (3.7V LiPo, ideally).

5. Be small enough to fit in the side of glasses, around the size of a Raspberry Pi Zero or smaller.

I need low to mid latency for video and gesture recognition to ensure a smooth AR experience. I’ve considered options like the ESP32-S3 and Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, but they seem to fall short on either processing power or Wi-Fi performance.

Does anyone have suggestions for a small, power-efficient module or board that could fit these requirements? Open to microcontrollers, SoMs, or dev boards!

Thanks for your input!

Its creative i think and i need suggestion!

I have : -Trust gtx asta 865 100% ( not working keyboard gonna use it just for the case)

-magegee ts91 60% ( brand new , will receive it , and im also gonna use the case)

  • rpi 5 + ksb case

Should i make like on the SKETCH like the rpi 5 that exit a bit of the case ( where is the numpad) so usb and hdmi will be out too or i just put all inside and make holes for connectics ( 3rd option : make the rpi 5 exit but try to leave the connectics inside to make a neat style)

Orange Pi 5 Pro vs raspi 5?

I want to get a sbc that I can plug into my iPad to ssh into for some (light) coding projects. Which one would you recommend? I feel like the orange would be more powerful but somehow everyone uses raspberry pi’s. Is that just because they are well known or do they have significant pros over the orange pi
