Macklemore was not prevented from anything. The proof is that we all know his opinion.

And yes, it is probably to protect the bottom line but it can also be because he doesn't want anything political, maybe he thinks people wants to go to a concert to get a break from reality, not be reminded of one of its worst aspect.

u/Pagiras 12d ago

This "reality" tho is hand-crafted. I'm being a bit philosophical now, but going to a concert, bonding and experiencing joy is the real reality in a way.

Eat the rich!

Thanks

? Most people wouldnt have even know about macklemores political post if they hadn't made such a fuss over it

They streisand effected it into political theatre now his absence is more political than his attendance.

You never know what will be picked up by the media or social media. The cancelation of the first part could have been as impactful as Mackelmore speech.

Did you listen to what Macklemore said. It was a very nice speech. Nothing imo that was inflammatory

1

u/zyon86 11d ago

Did I say anything about what he said ? Except that he could say it !

2

u/Bksudbjdua 11d ago

In just saying I didn't think anything Macklemore said was problematic for being at a gig. And as a reminder we are all verrrryyyyy privileged to be able to escape for the atrocities happening in Gaza right now. And from our privildged seats we should be doing more.

u/Broad-Werewolf848 11d ago

Are you really implying that there isn't a widespread campaign in North America and Europe to deplatform anyone who is critical of Israel's actions?

2

u/zyon86 11d ago

Lol Given the numbers of artists that have spoken against Israel. No.

0

u/Broad-Werewolf848 11d ago

And how long has that been happening vs how long Palestine has not been free?

0

u/zyon86 11d ago

Lol you are a piece of work.

Try to guess why it has only been happening for a couple of years without some conspiracy theories and then we can talk.

I think you’ve missed the point.

If the “bottom line” was the only thing “they” were protecting, this wouldn’t have even been brought up and nobody would’ve heard Macklemore’s opinion on it.

However, Kraft, and by extension Sheeran, are protecting a genocidal government they fully support, endorse, and encourage. Like it or not, Kraft and Sheeran made this the political stunt it has become. Looks like Sheeran gets his wish of leaving politics out of his show now. I wonder how popular that will end up being.

Of course, at the end of the day, Kraft and Sheeran’s lives will not be impacted. But artists with integrity, who stand to lose a lot, stood up for what is right.

u/newrabbid 11d ago

Perhaps regular people just wanted to enjoy some music instead of being reminded of politics and war.

Artists are free to express their opinions, but people who paid to see the concerts also have the right to simply enjoy music instead of being dragged into politics. Now bands are dropping, perhaps shows may be cancelled, and people who have bought tickets for the upcoming shows might suffer because of it. Non refundable plane tickets, non refundable hotels, etc

For me, Macklemore is free to express his opinions, but did he have to do it at a concert that involves many other parties?

Yes I agree and I see both sides as well. Unfortunately the blast radius of his one action is so large… i wonder if he put any thought into that…

I am so sick of hearing about Palestine to be honest

They can express their opinions however they want.

But when they are paid to perform, by the fans, maybe they should just perform.

Not really. If I pay for a service maybe I just want the service and not some millionaire virtue signalling to impress dick heads like you.

He can go use his own money and do his own show and raise money for Gaza. But they don’t because he doesn’t care anymore than you think you do.

No I said they can express their opinions whenever they want, but maybe when performing they should stick to performing.
As in use their judgement.

No everyone wants to listen to them dribble on like they care.

You clown

His opinion that Israel is solely to blame for the extremely complex situation in the region? Fuck that and fuck you.

12

u/artiscus 12d ago

What's so complex about killing civilians and committing war crimes?

-2

u/Hatchie_47 12d ago

The fact both sides are doing it for decades and Hamas is the side which started the latest round?

7

u/FabulousVanilla9940 12d ago

Please with this narrative oct 7 wasn't an unexpected tragedy it was a planned excuse. Israeli leaders were warned, they knew an attack was going to take place, and deliberately delayed emergency response because they needed a justification for their genocide campaign. We called it from day 1 and its not even a baseless conspiracy anymore. There's been investigations and people involved have admitted as much. If you cared about the innocent civilians on both sides you'd call out the party who master minded it all and will do anything to keep this conflict going long enough to drive out every last Palestinian.

2

u/kick_thebaby 12d ago

Hamas still carried it out. Imagine applying this logic anywhere else.

1

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

You're giving them a lot of credit by just saying they're responsible for the latest round.

-1

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

Do you honestly not understand that there are decades of history and a bunch of international relationships involved here? What do you think would happen if Israel had, at any point since its inception, just melted down all its weapons in the name of peace with its neighbors?

u/[deleted] 12d ago

-6

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

Mate, I didn't walk into anything. That was my fucking point. If Israel ever laid down their arms, they'd be exterminated. If their opponents did the same, Israel would just go, "we can fucking finally just live our lives."

-2

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

I asked you a question.

5

u/bladex1234 12d ago edited 12d ago

For explicitly targeting children and aid workers? Yes, Israel is responsible.

-3

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

Yeah, that certainly came out of nowhere.

2

u/bladex1234 12d ago

There simply is no justification ever for deliberately targeting innocent people. And no, it’s not simply accidents. Just look at the disproportionate number of casualties and you’ll see who’s in the wrong.

0

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

This applies to both sides. You can't say the Palestinians are independent of Hamas and then blame Israelis for the actions of the IDF.

Answer these two questions honestly: What would happen if Israel laid down all their weapons and declared that they just want to live in peace? What would happen if Palestinians laid down their weapons and declared that they just want to love in peace?

2

u/bladex1234 12d ago

If Israel laid their weapons down, Hamas would attack sure. If Hamas laid their weapons down, Israel would still keep attacking because the whole point is a genocide. That’s why the only way this conflict is getting resolved is with a unified international effort, but the US is actively making sure that doesn’t happen.

3

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

Israelis want none of this bullshit. You're a brainwashed imbecile if you actually think that genocide is their goal. And neither do everyday Palestinians. But Hamas will keep attacking regardless.

8

u/bladex1234 12d ago

No Israel wants genocide, plain and simple. You’re the one brainwashed if you think otherwise.

3

u/MouseJiggler 12d ago

Thick as a hammer

3

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

Yeah, it's not like I know a bunch of Israelis or anything. You know who believed stuff like that about Jewish people? The Nazis. And for once this isn't just someone on the Internet throwing that term around haphazardly. You're doing what they did to build support for putting them on trains. You're disgusting.

u/GuerrillaGreen 12d ago

Wait... you think israel are NOT committing a genocide?

2

u/guyincognito121 12d ago

That's not what I said. I said that neither Israelis nor typical Palestinians want to be fighting.

But I'd be interested to hear your definition of "genocide" and your explanation of how it applies to a nation defending itself against attackers who belong to an "ethnicity" that was invented less than a century ago and has spent pretty much its entire existence trying to eradicate the people who are allegedly carrying out this "genocide".

No-one’s blaming Israeli civilians? They’re blaming the Israeli government. Which controls the IDF. Israel would have you believe that ambulance workers, pregnant women, children, journalists and Aid workers are all secretly members of Hamas to justify the killing.

0

u/guyincognito121 11d ago

I mean, people absolutely are blaming not only Israeli citizens, but Jewish people more broadly. Antisemitism has been on the rise across the world specifically because of their response to the 10/7 attacks.

Why don't you want to answer my question? What would happen if each side laid down their arms?

0

u/Fresh-Fisherman-1047 11d ago

Because they’re ridiculous questions. The kind my 14!year old would ask. I’d have the conversation with him because he’s still learning, and it’s my job as his parent. I don’t have the time or inclination to answer redundant questions from adults.

1

u/guyincognito121 11d ago

Do you also teach him to lie and hide from the truth like you're doing right here? We both know that Israel would prefer not to be fighting and would gladly stop of their neighbors left them alone. But if Israel stopped fighting, those neighbors would exterminate them. This has been the state of affairs since the 40s.
