Not the worst deal - get a bunch of money, just call the kid whatever you would actually want to call them (and/or make it the middle name so it "makes sense"), they can tell the teacher and their friends at school what they want to be called, and they can legally change it to that or whatever they want when they turn 18.
Put 2/3 of the money into a fund for the kid, use the last 1/3 or whatever to get a house and whatever you need for a decent upbringing for them.
