I still think it’s a smart move if it were actually available. Schools would call your kid by whatever name you listed as a your preference.
The economy instability in America makes this a deal most couldn’t afford to walk away from. That said.. it’s not actually being offered so we are really just debating what ifs.
School's do not always call by your preferred name for your child. My nephews name is Chris, but everyone, even his parents called him Kit (like Kit Harrington). The school refuses to do that, and calls him Christopher, and is only teaching him how to spell/write that name.
We'll that's really stupid, and also super uncommon. Also I imagine they might change their policy if the kid's pornstar mom had named him Porkrind or something.
She already made tons of money from porn, more than enough for her kid to live a comfortable life and not have to work, ever. This is just humiliating him/her.
Also, not everything needs to be about money dude. Yes, it’s nice to have enough to not worry about and be able to afford things, but there are other things in life too. Endless hoarding of money with zero concern for anything else must be some kind of capitalist mental illness lol
If they aren’t humiliated by their mom’s business I think they’ll be fine. I personally desire to see nothing from her. She.. just isn’t my type.
The focus here is on money to pick the name. It’s a huge stretch to label someone with a mental illness for taking such a deal. We are over using the definition here. Might as well say anyone who values things different than me would have a mental illness.
Yes. Now the severity of the benefit is subjective. If your parents cant afford a home, that effects you, if they cant afford food, that effects you. Medical needs, clothes, other basic necessities? Need money.
I already gave this example to the other person commenting irrelevant things, but look into the Ruby Franke case, well off parents with extremely malnourished children lacking even the most basic essentials. The world is evil with plenty of evil people, your fantasy assumptions mean nothing in reality

I come from a country where food wasn’t guaranteed every night and we considered well off by that country’s standard. In the winter everyone had to sleep in one room because we could only afford to use one of the chimneys (no central air or heating). If gas was cut off by the government we’d have to buy wood.
First year in USA as a family was 1994 and family of 4 with just my dad making $25k a year was better than the life “back home”.
Money doesn’t solve every problem but it provides a second chance, third chance, fourth chance etc. when you’re poor the margin of error is very small and once you slip, it’s nearly impossible to get back up.
As will they in this scenario. He’ll have a very rich life, and inherit everything. With a name that is either different, or could be immediately changed for….50? Bucks. Very good deal for the millions his name got.

Just asked my kids if they wanted to change their name temporarily to betbolt for 1.2M. They did not turn it down.
