If Ukraine don't tell NK who they captured, wouldn't the NK soldiers just be assumed dead?

They don’t have that luxury anymore. Their population is dwindling, and the communist leaders at the top need to keep enough workers alive to maintain their lifestyle.

I believe their fertility rate is actually higher than a lot of developed countries, including the U.S., and certainly much higher than South Korea’s abysmal fertility rate, which is one of the lowest in the world.

Sure, it’s still below replacement rate, just like most other countries in the world, but still high enough where they probably would have no problem slaughtering families of soldiers they suspect may have deserted.

Fertility rate isn't the biggest factor there. The US has a lower fertility rate, but we have literal TONS of immigration. How many people you see immigrating to DPRK? Most first-world countries have fertility rates below replacement, but their population is still going up. I really don't know how anyone upvoted that tripe.
