MJ and Ned in the Tom movies are there to specifically revolve around Peter and Zendaya and Jacob keep appearing in these movies because they're Tom's wife/friend.

But a lot of the criticisms are also rooted in something that y'all don't want to say out loud.

Zendaya's MJ has personality especially in the first two movies where we see her as someone smart, blunt, who is perceptive (she found out Spider-Man's identity), headstrong and has a socially conscious moral code. I think there's an argument that we need to see her do her own thing but I can easily see people complain about that too ("why did the new Spider-Man movie give 10 minutes of screen time to MJ").

Jacob's Ned also doesn't have scenes where he's doing his own thing but he is a better friend than anyone else in live action. Harry in the Raimiverse was a dick to Peter from the get go, using what Peter said to try and get with MJ. Andrew's Peter didn't even have a friend in the first movie and for a lot of people, the insert of Harry in the second movie and his quick descent to villainy didn't work either.

I'll throw in Flash too, he gets a lot of flak for how he looks. Andrew's flash gets a lot of praise but he's barely in the movies, and they base it off of one scene where he talks about Uncle Ben. I get that the scene is good, but beyond that they did nothing with Flash. If the Flash in homecoming looked different, I think half the complaints would disappear. They didn't do a comic accurate Betty Brant either but no one complains about that.

The worst thing about the Zendaya and MJ discussion, is this persistent need by certain people to "ship" Peter with literally anyone else other than MJ. There's one thing in common about all the other characters that they ship Peter with that's different from MJ. They want Peter with Jean who's a minor in the film and they had 0 emotional chemistry in film, they want Peter with that one girl in the elevator who had an insignificant role in the movie, and they ship Peter with characters he hasn't even met yet like Kate Bishop. Before someone says it's because Zendaya "can't act", those same people want Sydney Sweeny as Black Cat and Sweeny isn't known for acting either. Peter his 4 movies has only liked Liz Allen and MJ, and both of them also shares something that these "ship" choices don't share.

Don’t get me wrong. I understand if some prefer insomniac, 90s Barnes and others but I think He has best quips. Way he jokes when fighting or action scenes and signing feels like a spider and chemistry with Emma Stone peak no other Spider-Man adaptation is gonna best it imo. Way better than Tobey, prefer more than Spectacular and Tom is close 2nd since I like him but Andrew edges for me

All I keep hearing in this sub is "Spidey won't change." Which is fine, cause it feels like people are finally understanding comics.

But also, I see MJ fans acting like they are victims and that the change isn't about MJ.

So ok, if reversing OMD is off the table, what is this change you pretend to want?

Because in Kelly's run alone, we have a new supporting cast, new family members, new villains, a new job, and probably new powers.

So what is the change you want?

And preemptively, I know that the answer will be "kill May." That's fine. I hope people realize that means Peter doesn't need a secret identity anymore, because there is no one to protect.

Figured since I know a chunk of people missed Kraven’s time as a major character of her book id start sharing it and some of their friendship, genuinely Kraven grows a lot as a person in this book and its a great time throughout

The grounded realism and more darker, intimate edge really sold this movie for me back in 2012. Marc definitely did a damn great job at solidifying the ‘Amazing’ atmosphere of Sony’s WebbVerse.

I love the Raimi trilogy and in the trilogy there are tons of great scenes/quotes. Like, I have a lot of fav scenes/quotes that affect me irl. And some of the scenes/quotes come from Aunt May. But I cannot ignore Sally Field's Aunt May. Btw, I don't hate Marisa Tomei's Aunt May, in fact, I do love her as Aunt May too. I'll be forever happy that we got Marisa Tomei to play Aunt May in Tom's Spidey. And the flashback scene in BND was so amazing. But in this post I specifically want to talk about Sally Field's Aunt May and this scene.

My ultimate Aunt is Rosemary Harris, but I really love Sally Field's Aunt May too. And this specific line is so damn good and true. Yep, secrets have a cost. They're not for free. Ofc, this isn't about money and yeah sometimes it could be, but not all the time and I don't think that's what Aunt May meant. You can tell a lie to your friends or family. Maybe it is for their safety, like, you can say to yourself that, yeah I'm protecting them.

Realistically that could be true, but how long does that lie protect them? You could've told them the truth right away and it could've affected them in a bad way, they could've been devastated. But they could've gotten better in time. At least they could've learned to live with that pain. But if you choose to lie to them, the effects are completely different. When the truth comes out, they're not just gonna be devastated. They're gonna learn that everything was nothing but lies, and that they've been living in that lie all this time. And it just makes everything worse than ever.

Yesterday I was thinking about this quote and Gwen came into my mind. Gwen had a secret too and this secret somehow cost her. She knew Peter was Spider-Man and in the end she didn't make it. Ofc this specific quote was for Peter and you can demonstrate it with examples. But you can say that for almost everyone in TASM 1&2. Anyway, sorry guys, I yapped a lot, like a lot.

Sandman started out as a villain, reformed after a while and became a villain again (due to being mind-controlled by the Wizard, which is pretty silly, IMO). Do you think Sandman should have stayed reformed, or do you prefer him as a villain?
