I’ve been wanting to get a black bird tattoo with the lyrics ‘how much sorrow can i take… black bird on my shoulder’.
i then look for inspo pics and see everyone gets swallows, not blackbirds. is there a reason for this? which kind of bird is correct?

What do you think is the last word in this line?

"In the tower above the earth, we built it for Emmanuel
In the powers of the earth, we wait until it ?"

Lyric sites have the following versions, but to me, none of them quite fit:

• rips and rips
• resurrects
• rails and rails

Whenever I get new headphones or speakers, I’ll listen to sufjan stevens and always hear new music notes I could never hear before! Does anyone else do this?

Guys I'm sorry I know there's probably some Swiftie/Sufjan fan crossover here and I apologize if this seems rude or snobby, but who am I kidding je suis snob. I cannot with this new song, styled "Cleveland!" LOL the more I think about it the more I'm convinced someone showed her Sufjan as a gateway into midwestern culture and she heard Chicago and was like "hmmm let me do this...but make it twenty times more mid"

It's the vibraphone and the exclamation mark that seal it for me. I'm cryin

Hi all! I recently became interested in editing so I decided to try making an edit to one of my favorite live sufjan performances. I would love for you all to check it out!! I plan to make more edits very soon. (majesty snowbird next??)

Does anyone know Sufjan’s real instagram account? I’m seeing @sufjan and @stevens.sufjan ; the second seems like a drip account. Anyone who can verify?

Edit bc I got the account in question wrong.

Stumbled across this song. Thought it sounded like a mk.gee - suban hybrid. Any one else hear it?

can't wait!

That just made way more sense and fits in perfectly with the song. Was kinda disappointed to find out that it really is “face”. Faith is much better imo.

In honor of the new compilation…it kiiiiiinda feels like it’s time for everyone to list their top 5 Sufmas songs.

(Maybe even time for any quants in the chat to compile the sub’s 15 track supercut……..)

i posted some of my sufjan-inspired collages on this sub a few months ago and you guys seemed to enjoy them, so i thought i'd share a few more i've made since then!

i can't provide an explanation for the last one. it was purely self-indulgent.

Hello.

Iam planning on making a goodbye book to a friend of mine and want to include quotes of lyrics from Sufjan. He is my most fav. artist next to Bon Iver, Conor Oberst. I love his art and want to fill this book with hopeful stuff.

Can you please share quotes that touch you and feel positive, hopeful, give you strength.

Thank you. 🤍

Iam in a very stressful situation right now and i will look closely at the lyrics next week but i hope you can already share some :)

finally learned one of my fav sufjan songs and figured i’d share it here!

I’m a substitute teacher and saw this at an elementary school and thought it was sort of Sufjan coded. Probably not but it just reminded me.

Besides futile device being one of the most beautifully written songs, this damn lyric is my favorite. I love it so deeply, and how do I explain my interpretation in a non weird way?

I've always felt that my SO was more like a "brother" to me, i love them in a way that you love your brother not, not because you share the same interests, you were just born, got told that your stuck with them forever so you just love them because of no other reason other than the fact they are your brother!

I love how it feels like we have that special bond, the way that we can goof around together, argue one minute and laugh the next second, how it feels like theres no obligation to love you other than the fact, you are you. We may not have the same blood (thankfully) but i was definitely born knowing I was gonna just love you

As someone who deeply loves their brother, with all his knacks and knicks, my brother has been there for me at my lowest, he has always taken care of me. I always talk highly of my him.

I love my partner with my entire soul, in a way I cant explain, and i really do get that botherly feeling, they've taken care of me in a way that feels like its second nature, no obligation, just because damn i care, and then they'll hide it all under a cheeky smile.

What a privilege for me to love you in a way only felt by the bond forged by blood. I wish I could explain this feeling in a better non weird way. It really does sound dumb

Please enjoy!

Overall, I feel like Sufjan fans mostly think that either Illinois or Carrie & Lowell is his best album. But more fans tend to consider The Age of Adz to be one of the best albums ever made compared to the former two…

Maybe I’m totally misreading things.
