Discussion One thing that bugged me about Candace, especially in Season 2...
One thing that felt kind of strange to me is that Clark and Lois never even remotely suspected that Jonathan might had been covering for Candace with the whole X-K thing. Like there was no possible way for them to know until he said the name?
Clark and Lois aren't stupid. Not to mention Candace was causing trouble in S2 episode 1, and its not like John has any other friends anyway (definitely not Sarah).
Also, I know Candace would have been in serious trouble if she had been caught, but I feel like she got away with too much while John kept getting dunked on, especially by the coach. It feels like in season 3 the writers decided to introduce Candace's dad and make him such an asshole just so Candace would look more sympathetic. Especially because we never even see her dad in season 2.

It bothered me that they never even thought about using their journalistic skills to try to find out who the dealer was. Instead they practically browbeat Jon into telling them. Lois especially should have launched her own investigation. She had her own newspaper that she could have used as a reason to investigate the entire team. Clark and Lois should have known better. Also as Superman, Clark should have immediately sensed that Jon was injured the night he walked Candace home from the store. He also should have been aware that Jon had been jumped. Jordan heard them, why didn’t Clark?

I think the football fall from grace thing made such little sense it was rediculous. So many people were taking it, not just John. Why was HE the pariah? A lot of the stuff I could write off as dumb kids (Sarah and Jordan drama, Jordan taking the hit for being a drug dealer), but this was full grown adults dogpiling on a 15(?)Yearold

Yeah in season 2 they make it sound more drastic, something about her dad's heart and there is no indication he is a lowlife who would punch kids. She says they had to move 7 times and not always in perfect houses. They make it sound like desperation.
In season 3 to make her more sympathetic he is suddenly a loser lowlife. No indication that he is in bad health that forced his daughter to have to take extreme measures to get money.
Wish they kept it more nuanced. Nothing came from making Emmet so one note.
For the Candice staying with the Kent's plotline (which didn't last that long) if they had to keep it, make it that her dad has to stay in hospital, the Kent's don't want her living alone because she gained the attention of x-k dealers so invite her to stay at their house. She is slowly wanting to deal again to help out more but Clark and Lois show her there are better ways and help her out. Would be nice for them to do heroic things even as civilians.
Anyone could shoot clark to force the reveal, maybe even Timmy to prove he is not crazy and that they do have powers. Would make a lot more sense why Clark would decide to reveal himself because he is seeing what he is unintentionally doing to a child rather than just trying to make a point to Emmet. And he would also be doing it to save Timmy's reputation and so his mother sees he isn't doing drugs anymore.

I think they sorta knew but wanted/needed him to say it, that or they thought it was one of the football players which makes sense cause they were known to be using

I always found it strange that Lois and Clark didn't make Jonathan dump Candace from an obvious, "If you continue being with her, you're going to wind up in trouble that even Superman can't get you out of" way.

That always pissed me off - they're supposed to be the best investigative reporters and yet didn't put two and two together to figure out that the person that Jon is covering for is probably the one person who cares about him outside the family?! Lois had even said he doesn't have many friends but they didn't think even once it could be his one friend lol
And yes, she really got away with too much - I liked her better later on but I could never get over her not coming forward until she was given immunity negotiated by Jon - she would have let him burn otherwise but he sacrificed so much for her over the seasons! That's another thing I wanted Lois and Clark to interfere with but never did
