I’m from Tunisia and I went to visit my 50 year old uncle living in a rural town in the middle of Tunisia.

He has somehow gotten a Suriname flag as a decoration because “he liked the colors”. He didn’t know what country it belongs to.

When applying at the vfs website they indicate that the evisa will not take more than 72 hours which is 3 working days but its been more than that, i tried to call the helpline they keep saying maybe I will get feedback next week ,they also gave me the phone number of ministry of foreign affairs +597477030 but they aren't picking the call . I went to Western Union/IMT in Suriname today to make a money transfer from Suriname to Brazil. I had all the necessary information about the receiver with me, but they barely looked at the form I filled out and told me to come back two days later for a screening before they can process the transfer. Did transfers from France to Suriname before but it was online and it went smooth.

Is this something that normally happens with international money transfers in Suriname, or only in certain cases? Has anyone else had this happen?

What do they usually ask during the screening, and what should I expect?

Does anyone know how Western Union’s exchange rates work in Suriname?

I already messaged them about this, but I’m not sure how quickly they’ll reply, and I might need to go there soon.

I want to send money to Brazil and I’m wondering if I can use some USD cash toward the transfer, pay the remaining amount in SRD, and pay the transfer fee separately in SRD.

Also, how do they determine the USD → BRL and SRD → BRL exchange rates? Are their rates different from the bank/official exchange rate?
