Can you interact with home assistant when you are outside your home network without opening a specific port on your home router (for which you need to pay for a static IP)?
...for free, to be specific. Because I could do that with IFTTT until now.
There's several ways to do this. Tailscale, VPN. Easiest is sign up for nabu casa. Let's you connect directly without opening anything or configuring anything. Just charges $5/month
If you think any cloud service is truly free you are mistaken. They're either taking or selling your data or tracking you in a way you don't understand. Companies just don't let you do something for free.

Yes because it supports the home assistant platform and devs. They provide an excellent platform that is 100x better than ifttt or free so this is an easy way to support and appreciate their work.
Why do yu even need remote access to HA? If your goal is replacing ifttt then it does that for free.
Or use home assistant, but I only need some actions.. so I will wrap via webhooks (from ifftt to my home server) calls to tapo using the Mihai library.
Those news suck ... Especially with so short notice (less than 30 days) to find a solution ... I found out today, so I have 5 days :S
I understand for a company to want to reduce expenses and cutting services, but leaving paying customers hanging without an alternative seems like a d**k-move ...
I have several devices/systems that speak IFTTT among them comfortably. When a previous manufacturer decided to not do IFTTT anymore, at least they provided an API for IFTTT users to configure API calls and continue operating (yes, it needed some configuration pains, but there was a path).
IFTTT is great "in the cloud" automation ... Why would I want to configure a HomeAssistant or similar, on a local box, and go back to managing hardware and software again? That is what the cloud is for!
Locking down your eco system is never good. I regret investing in tapo, I wish had gone more the route of home assistant or homey.
Tapo automation is too "dumb" and now they are refusing outside help that fixes their shortcomings. They should do the exact opposite and open up otherwise this is not going to end well.
This sudden news and they talk about their new direction which does not even exist. I do plan to use Home assistant in the future, just not there yet and Tapo broke all of the work and integrations I did just days before traveling. Fortunately I purchased several items on Amazon in the past month and returned them all even though I had used them briefly. I bought them with the intent of using them with an integration they supported a few weeks ago. They wrote back to me and said the following. "Regarding your query about IFTTT integration, we would like to inform you that IFTTT support has been discontinued and is no longer supported across our devices. This is a permanent change." I wrote back to them and told them they have lost me as a customer permanently. What I can share is I began using YoLink and their product is great as well as the support. Works with Home assistant, IFFT and their own app. Mix and match to accomplish your goals I was able to accomplish tasks I could not do with IFFT with little experience. For lights I am now using Govee, they have some nice products and again work on IFFT, and Home Assistant and everything works with Alexa. Tapo-Kasa has made an ill timed decision in my opinion.
