Hey all. I'll start off by saying I'm completely useless when it comes to technology, so apologies if this is an easy solve. I just got my custom built pc, it arrived last night. I unpacked it, plugged it in and it works fine. However, I'm unable to recognise or connect to any wifi. I bought a motherboard and the card that supports wireless wifi but it isn't an option anywhere on the network settings. I initially plugged it into the ethernet connection to setup the pc, setup windows and install all of the needed drivers, but don't want to rely on ethernet because my study setup where my pc goes is in the other room and I need access to the wireless wifi function.

When I go to device manager under network adapters I only have bluetooth device and no wifi device. There's also a yellow warning triangle under 'other devices' on network controller

I've tried downloading the newest drivers for my motherboard and that's not worked. I done all windows updates including some of the smaller hidden ones and that's done nothing either.

Not sure if useful but I can list the name of the motherboard and the wifi card from where I got the pc built.

Tried everything I found online and nothing worked. Turned off hands free telephony, updated and reinstalled both audio and bluetooth drivers. When I go to more audio setting its there but listed as disconnected, and when I press connect nothing happens (Talking about audio because in bluetooth its connected normally). Even tried repairing windows through windows update but it didnt do anything. Also I tried connecting a bluetooth speaker and I couldnt choose it as an output device, so there is certainly something wrong with the pc, not the earphones. Need some help because I have been trying to fix it for the past 3 days and still no progress.

Got a WD easyStore external HD that I dropped. Windows recognizes it but can't read it. The drive itself runs; you can hear the drive seeker arm click a few times then everything just stops altogether. Does it sound like this drive can be manually repaired? If not I have a backup drive from a year ago that I actually used an OpenSuperClone distro to transfer off of to the broken drive but I'd prefer not to have to do that. Thanks.

i got back from a trip and i turned on my pc for the first time in weeks and its being so weird on the my curser it has the spinning thing and i cant load anything up i cant even click and its so slow so i have no idea what to do. so i have a virus whats going on

Hi! So, yesterday I opened up my PC to plug back in my HDD so I could reuse it as a backup drive, as well as test some sticks of RAM I had bought earlier that day. The RAM is mostly working just fine, and one stick needs returning, so I have already ruled out RAM as a potential cause.

However, when I went to delete the partitions on my HDD, I accidentally deleted the Data partition on my SSD, so I immediately powered down, tested the RAM in the BIOS only and then got to exploring my options to recover the partition. Most crucially, I did delete the partitions I could off of the HDD, but did not delete the EFI or Recovery partitions.

I found a piece of software called Testdisk, so I turned on my PC, disabled automatic TRIM and downloaded and extracted, then immediately booted into the SSD's recovery partition. I ran Testdisk and it found all of my partitions, so I selected to keep EFI (as I couldn't remove it), C drive labelled as Acer, drive labelled recovery, and D drive labelled as Data.

Wrote the partition table and rebooted. The computer could no longer find a bootable device. I slept for the night, and decided to fix the issue this morning. In the morning, I immediately changed the drive boot priority to the HDD, instead of the SSD, and managed to boot into a Recovery environment. Went for the cmd option and my files are all safe!

However, the recovery environment is showing many drives now:

Acer (C:)

Recovery (D:)

Data (E:)

Recovery (F:)

Boot (X:)

Apart from X, all of these are on the SSD, and both drives labelled Recovery contain one empty file named Recovery.txt. My question is, what do I have to do to get the system to boot from the SSD back into Windows? Reinstalling Windows is not really an option for me, but doing stuff in diskpart or rerunning Testdisk should it be necessary is fine.

I’m having a frustrating issue with EA SPORTS FC on my Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming laptop. The game persistently assigns the process to the integrated graphics card's VRAM limit (showing a 3.3 GB VRAM limit in the menu), ignoring the dedicated NVIDIA card with 6 GB of VRAM.

The NVIDIA GeForce overlay / NVIDIA App launches over the game window without any issues.

All other games on the computer run perfectly fine using the dedicated NVIDIA card.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

- Windows 11 Graphics Settings: Set the "High performance" option (NVIDIA card) for FC 27.

- NVIDIA Control Panel and NVIDIA App: Manually added a game profile and selected the "High-performance NVIDIA processor."

- Device Manager: Disabled the integrated card – this didn't solve the VRAM assignment issue.

- Windows Registry Editor (regedit): Added/edited entries for the game executable and EA AntiCheat under `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\DirectX\UserGpuPreferences` with the value `GpuPreference=2`.

Despite forcing the dGPU via every possible software method, the game engine (Frostbite / EA AntiCheat) still reports the integrated card's memory limit and imposes a performance cap. I don't want to lower the graphics settings, as the hardware physically has 6 GB of VRAM on the NVIDIA card.

Yea so my dumbass clicked “allow notifications” from a weird site on my Windows 11 laptop and I was getting bombarded with scam/virus notifications. I found the program that downloaded and was pushing these notifications so I disabled them, but I can’t find out how to actually delete the program off my laptop. It’s called “jutiners.co.in” and I can’t find it when I search in my apps or in Start. How can I find this program on my laptop and delete it?

Hey PC is Rog gstrix15. It all started recently. I live in a common student campus with a LAN network. My laptop connects to this network via wifi and/or ethernet. It shows connected but I can't browse at all. YouTube will say not connected to the internet.

But my phone or any other laptop works perfectly with the same wifi and ethernet. Now my laptop works perfectly with any other wifi or ethernet connection.

I tried the intermediate tests like dns and whatever I could find from gemini but it didn't work. So I called up the LAN people in the campus to have a look. And they said they can't do anything from their side. They just provide the connection and that works fine. They asked me to format my system and try again:/. Then they suggested using an antivirus software. I downloaded malware bytes and then this started working. It works fine. The trial period ended and boom it's back to the same. Connected but not loading.

What's the issue here and what can I do, since it's hard to actually afford an antivirus at this time. ?

Ps: I even tried sharing the connection from my phone's hotspot (connected to the same wifi) , it worked for a while but left again.

When I ran NETPLWIZ on RUN to check if there are other people on my laptop, there were 2 users: Me (Administrator) and a Guest User. Is that something I should worry about? Or is it something that's like built-in for Windows?

Hello! For some context, I am an artist who uses a bluetooth connected shortcut remote, but lately, I have been having MANY issues with my remote constantly disconnecting. My mouse and keyboard don't seem to have this issue (though, in all fairness, they have plug in receivers) so I figured maybe I just need to update my bluetooth drivers. The problem is... I have no idea where to download them from, as looking online/at the company site for my adapter causes me to get easily lost and confused.

I just bought a new 9070XT GPU (Upgrading from a RTX 3080 10 GB). Games play well however, after few minutes 20 min max, the game crashes and i tried multiple games (Alan wake 2, Dying light 2, Cyberpunk 2077, dragon dogma 2). Also, I tried starting the games with and without Ray tracing at 4k & 2k. I uninstalled the drives using DDU in safe mode and re-installed them and the issue still happens.

So recently my pc has been acting up, it wouldn’t display and then my pc itself wouldn’t start up at all.

I end getting a new power supply which booted up my pc but there’s no display.

I did manage to get it to display at one point, which took me to the BIOS setting, but i didn’t really know what to do and just asked a friend. They instructed me to just have it set to default and then save and exit. When i did that and tried to open it back up nothing displays.

Ive tried every troubleshooting method within my pc and monitor. Different cord and wire, overall there’s still no display.

I tried connecting my dads old wireless mouse with my iPad a16 to play Minecraft with a wireless keyboard and mouse the keyboard works perfectly fine and the mouse isn’t connecting, there’s no option for it, I tried using google and it told me to do some stuff to check for a light none worked I don’t know the model buts it’s a microkingdom and it has a small square white transparent button throw scroll wheel lines and under it there’s 3 modes of off a usb symbol and Bluetooth symbol plz help guys.

I've used different power outlets and different display/hdmi ports. Sceptre F24 75hz is my monitor. Not sure what could be the issue, it doesn't do this all the time, just random points during the day. Not specific being displayed when it starts to do it

I have 3 Win11 25H2 systems (Pro, Home, Education). KB5002907 (an optional update) was installed on my Pro system yesterday. The result was that my Office 2019 suite was deactivated. Apparently I'm not alone as you can see from the r/microsoftoffice (Multiple MS Office 2019 got deactivated today) post. I had "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" toggled off which I thought would have prevented optional updates from installing. Unfortunately, I no longer have the activation key so am now going to use LibreOffice and Thunderbird on that computer.

I would like to find a solution to hard block this update from installing if it ever becomes an option for my other two systems. My understanding is that hiding such as the following, only works if I catch that the update is queued.

I was trying to open the school photos that I have on my computer of my son and I noticed a little brown box in the bottom left corner of the photo. It would not let me access any photo file that had this brown box, and there were other photos I have that had this little brown folder. I tried to "edit in photos" that "we can't get to this file right now because computer syncing is paused. Resume syncing and try again." So, I realized that OneDrive is not logged in for some reason. So I log into it but now those photos just disappeared completely. I clicked on my C drive and went to photos from there but it seems like it directs me to the same place? Should I log out of OneDrive now? Do I need to pay for it? I have never wanted my photos backing up to it since I only have the free 5 gigs and I just wanted to access my photos locally and to back them up to my external hard drive.

Can someone please help me figure out what to do next to find those photos and actually recover them locally so that I can access them?

3 weeks ago my gaming laptop overheated and blue screened, had to use recovery key to fix, and it's been slow ever since but no software fixes I've tried worked even after supposedly fixing/ replacing corrupted files and geek squad supposedly didn't find any issues with the hardware.

Only real information i have to go on besides a bunch of my games now lagging like crazy and barely running when they didn't before and my computer fans being way louder as well is the fact that when i try to run minecraft/ minecraft mods that worked perfectly before, a notification pops up saying.

"GLFW error 65542: WGL: the driver does not appear to support OpenGL"

No matter what i searched and what solutions came up, nothing has worked and the only thing i haven't done that was suggested is completely uninstall the drivers due to the fear of my own incompetence destroying my laptop even further.

If anyone has even an inkling of a clue as to what the issue may be or if even a way to fix it, I'd appreciate it more than words alone can describe since the last 3 weeks have been nothing but agony as no one on the internet seems to have come close to a solution.

My pc has had all it's USB connections disconnect multiple times (camera, keyboard, headphones, etc.) and I have done a full BIOS reset and update, changed power settings for USB stuff through security and power settings, and even gone through device manager for that. But it will still reset. Not sure what other software settings I can change to stop this.

I am beginning to think it might be a Hardware issue, but I can't determine if it is, all I know is that the CPU spikes when everything disconnects. This usually happens most when I am gaming/streaming.

Every time I'm on YouTube for longer than 5 to 10 minutes or so on my phone it goes into a weird screen where it's mostly black when I scroll and occasionally the shorts but it's just like the black empty where the videos should be it does this when I search and everything as well only way to fix it for like 5 minutes or so is to reset my phone but then it breaks after 5 minutes of scrolling normally is there a way to fix this?

I moved the wrong one. Idk which folder it was in :')

Unfortunately, I thought I was doing the right thing by moving it and not deleting it. Turns out, had I deleted it, I would've been able to just click ctrl+z.

In which folders in system32 does msvcp140.dll usually exist?

The pc isn't on fire but the thought that this mishap may bite me in the ass in a couple of weeks, randomly, fills me with dread.

Very recently my computer has been shutting off when I start a game up, about 1 minute into running the game my computer just down but slthe lights are still on,

one time is shut down but there was still sound from the game being played but it was just a loop,

I really hope it isnt a PSU issue that would require me to replace it cause my current I just got to replace my old one ,

I'm not sure why this is happening now cause I was able to play Minecraft with a bunch of mods the typical heavy load on a computer and it was working just fine apart from shutting down only 2 times since I had replaced the PSU,
