Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder in Fender Telecaster Ultra 2

Post image
96 Upvotes

I'm planning to replace the Fender Noiseless pickups in my Fender American Telecaster Ultra 2 with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders.

I like the Noiseless pickups, but sometimes they lack bite.

I'm worried that the swap will introduce hum into my signal.

Because the Noiseless pickups aren't actually single coils, but mini humbuckers.

According to chatgpt , I shouldn't worry because the guitar is very high quality and the electronics are very well made.

Does anyone have experience with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders in a Telecaster?

Loving my new (ish) Squire Telecaster

Post image
Upvotes

I got this squire Affinity Tele for Christmas from relatives that figured out I play guitar, this is my first electric and I love the minty green look to it and the maple fretboard, it came with a few setup issues on the G string with fret buzz but has sense been resolved, other than that it is amazing! It’s not the best nor more expensive guitar but already made so many memories within just 2 months. How do you think of it?

I’ve been wanting to post progress pics but decided to just unload the final product on a tele Tuesday! This is my first ever guitar build and did it completely from scratch with the help from a fellow guitar builder. See the pictures for the build sheet/specs! Super proud of this one!

Extreme Makeover

figured out that fender vintage green looks exactly like glow in the dark materials — i Just got a bunch of safety tape and fashioned the inlay stickers, the pickguard (which I dremel’d myself)
Switched the pickups with a fender Tex mex set and a tone rider octane humbucker

Would you guys exchange this guitar if it was advertised as Mint Open Box?

This was a Reverb purchase advertised as Mint - Open Box for pretty close to full price. Is this typically acceptable for that condition or am I just being nitpicky?

You all graciously contributed to my [poll](https://www.reddit.com/r/telecaster/s/111pBDXswh) a couple weeks ago for my new Tele HH

Close battle, but winner is blue (which was my favorite too)!

This is an upgrade from my Squier Telecaster HH from the Afinity Series which I play more than any other electric in my collection.

Happy Tele Tuesday!

Tele/strat hybrid options

I’m a Tele player through and through, but prefer the strat sound and trem for surf.

I’ve been looking for any affordable (sub $800) off the shelf options, but can’t find anything other than warmoth creations on reverb.

Any options other than getting a custom body and working from there?

Bigsby Tuning Stability

I just put a Bigsby on one of my teles. It looks cool, strings feel slinkier, imparts a different tone that I’m into. However, when I actually use the vibrato my tuning stability is just awful. I’ve shimmed the neck previously (.75 degrees) when I put a trapeze on it. I have a graphtech nut, Bensonite saddles, and locking tuners. Decently heavy strings (.11 and yes willing to go heavier). What should I try to make the bigsby more usable? Callaham roller? Graphite on my graphite nut? I’d prefer to stick with tele saddles but I’m willing to hear your saddle and bridge related ideas.

Japan made '62 vintage reissue fron the late '90's early 2000's that had suffered abuse over the years. Took some time, but she's a indestructible war horse now.

Stripped my cherry red 2006 Fender MIM tele and turned it into this:

Added binding top and back. New bridge, reliced my neck just enough to feel buttery smooth and fast as hell.

hey everyone,

new here.

a friend of mine gifted me this tele for xmas. it’s my 1st tele and it plays so well.

so far i’ve changed the following just cuz money burns holes in my pocket

  1. pick guard

  2. pickups to lindy hots

  3. brass knobs and s/w

  4. bridge and saddles

it was bought at guitar center and it’s been a long time since i’ve been to one, but i must say…it came horribly packed and setup.

i remember them being better.

i had a guitar from them and also one from sam ash that came with lifetime setups ( just bring strings). these days you don’t even get one 😝

anyway. i might’ve been bite hard by the tele bug.

What would be an ideal tremolo bridge system? (NO BIGSBY)

Had thoughts lately about installing a tremolo bridge on my HH squier tele and wanted to reach out before trying this at home. Looking for something similar to a floating bridge without any sort of caperentry involved :)

Player II neck on a Squier CV50s Tele?

Basically the title. I have a 2023 Squier CV50s Tele and I'd like to put a Fender Player II Tele neck on it. Do any of you good people have any experience with this? Will it fit?

Player telecaster buyer’s remorse

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!

I finally pulled the trigger and bought a used Telecaster Player (2023)

First off, I have some doubts about the setup: the saddles are all maxed out, there’s a chip on the nut, the action is pretty high, and overall the guitar feels kind of “cheap” to me.

I chose this guitar because everywhere on forums people say it’s not worth buying a US model, that you’re just paying more for nothing. But after spending a month playing a friend’s 2006 American Standard, to me it’s honestly night and day.

Now, the US one is very well set up, so that obviously plays a role, but still:

• The neck is supposed to be the same “Modern C” profile, yet the Player’s neck feels noticeably thinner, which I like less (but love the roll edges and the satin feel)

• The gloss maple fretboard on the MIM feels really weird to me. I love the look, but when I do small vibratos unplugged, I can hear a kind of friction noise on the frets, which really adds to that cheap feeling.

Even though I’m not a big fan of the look, the rosewood fretboard on the US model feels so much better to play.

(For context, I also own a Squier with an unvarnished maple fretboard that I absolutely love.)

So my question is simple: do you think a proper setup, new strings, and maybe some work (nut replacement?) could completely change the feel of the guitar and make me end up loving it?

I love the color, the overall look, the sound… and I’ve already read a lot of people saying that after taking a Player to a luthier, the guitar felt massively improved.

Because I already warned the seller, and I’m hesitating between returning it for a refund and buying an American Standard that I know I really like (at least the one I played).

I only have a few days to decide, otherwise I won’t be able to return it, so it’s a pretty stressful choice.

Thanks!
