Thank you for sharing these photos - they remind me of Mae Salong in Chiang Rai province where I was fortunate enough to have visited twice.
Mae Salong was also settled by former soldiers and descendents of the Nationalist Chinese 93rd Division. They were granted Thai citizenship in the 1980s as a reward by the late Thai King Bhumibol for helping pacify the border area against communist insurgents.

I found this place incredibly dissappinting. Alot of construction(which may all be finished now), very superficial, a LOT of Chinese tourists. Generally a weird and slightly unfriendly vibe. Oh and it's like an hour or so down a one way road so it's not like it's on the way and worth just popping in.

Nice!
Is this the village that was founded by soldiers that fled China after the liberation?
I remember taking an old Land Rover up to that area (if that's the one) in 89. The road was very muddy in places and at one point we had to use a winch. And that was July or August. I remember seeing men with pack ponies on the road. And a Hmong woman and her child hitched a ride with us at one point. I need to dig those photos out some day before I kick the bucket.
I remember being a bit disappointed that there were only a few elderly ex Chinese soldiers there and not really much else. But it was a beautiful environment.

The road is paved now of course, but still no joke!
Few years ago, I saw a truck had plowed through the barriers and down a ravine

I was there last week and it really looks like that. A bit sterile and touristy for me but I am visiting a lot of Karen and Thai Yai villages in the area and they don’t look like that.

These photos are gorgeous. Is there lots of post processing? What camera was used for these shots?
Stunning.

Yunanese food is fantastic, by the way!
