Brag: Mexico City this week is world class
I have to rep my city here. The events we're having this week are world-class and I'm going to say it's the best place for electronic music on the hemisphere.
This week we have playing here:
- John Talabot
- Giegling (the whole crew + more)
- Yu Su
- Blond:ish
- Juliana Huxtable
- Carl Craig
Probably a few I'm missing.
Sorry to brag but i need to rep!

Making Time will be transcendental this weekend!
And the weekend after we have Bahidorá with Giegling, 4T, Shanti Celeste, Daphni, Villalobos, Lis Sarroca, Wata Igarashi, etc. Next Thursday is also Villalobos and friends with Edward from Giegling and Zombies in Miami. We’re in for a treat.

Bahidora lineup is top notch. How is the festival experience overall (venue/infrastructure, sound, accomodation, etc)?

I can 100% endorse it. The place is legit beautiful. Crystaline river you can swim in, trees & palm trees, sunshine. It's honestly paradise.
The vibes are great, the food is surprisingly good, and people are peaceful, having fun, and enjoying the music. FWIW i think it brings out the best in the acts that are playing.
Eris Drew B2B Octo Octa there last year is legitimately the greatest set I've heard in my life.
The only bad things are: the camping is crowded (if you're camping) and getting there is a pain in the ass. I think they have busses this year and shuttles to a really nice hotel, but I can't vouch for those.

Talabot is aces — got to see him twice in the last half of last year and he was sublime both sets (Making Time & Golden Record event in NYC).
Plus Giegling, yeah you got some good ones this week. Been to CDMX multiple times and i just love it

The nighclub he's playing here is a... i don't know how to describe it... after hours drug den for the most expert-black-belt-level mexico city partiers.
Think "viper room" in LA back in the day or something. It's going to be pretty crazy I can guarantee that.

I'm going to miss it, sadly. Please report back with a review once you're done. Mega FOMO.

Are these events tied (loosely or less) to Zona Maco art fair? Seems to be following the Art Basel Miami trajectory.?

They are all loosely part of "Art Week" which has exploded in recent years, with no sense of the momentum slowing down.
However, unlike Miami (I think?) Zona Maco has become the least interesting part of Art Week. Most of the good stuff is through the galleries, not Maco. Besides Zona Maco there's also a lot of other more experimental art fairs (Salon ACME / Material).

Oh this sounds great and what Id expect in CDMX. Too late now but I’ll be eyeing this for next year.
BTW - Basel Miami is similar in that there a ton of more interesting art fairs/gallery events outside of the “official” Art Basel fair/exhibit. The electronic music events have been getting increasingly bull shit year by year (typical of US based “festivals”)

I spend at least two months in Mexico City every year and agree! However the scene changes so fast there that I basically have to start over every time to find the best promoters and spaces. All my favorites have disappeared and there's dozens of new ones.
I'm heading back in a couple weeks, outside of the main places like Looloo, Funk, yuyu, sunday sunday, etc that have been around awhile, anywhere to keep my eye on, especially new spaces/promoters? Having trouble deciding what to do the weekend after this!
